As an athlete, he is on another level. What a player.
When Mackinnon is on his game, especially in the playoffs, he is on an entirely different level. A born competitor, through-and-through. He's a blast to watch.

He also has a partner of choice during the off-season since Nathan MacKinnon is used to working out with Sidney Crosby, All of his teammates, including his captain, Gabriel Landeskog, consider MacKinnon to be one of the hardest workers in the league and he is always looking to be the best at what he does. He is as good offensively as he is defensively, unlike others, he has a lightning shot, he can shoot from very far.
The fact this guy has never won a Hart is an anomaly. Hopefully he gets a full season to paint his masterpiece this season. Injuries have prevented him from being there at the finish with the guys who end up winning it.
Nathan has to compete for the Heart with the likes of McDavid, Draisaitl, Kutcherov and Mathews Similar to Steve Yzerman in the 80s had Gretzky and Mario to compete with. Nathan MacKinnon has been top 3 to top 5 in the league for the majority of his career.
Yeah the one year he was very clearly the best player in the league, they gave it to Taylor Hall for literally no reason. Avs are just too hated I guess, hopefully that cup woke them up

Playoffs, late in the third, tie game. If St. Louis hadn’t scored after and the Avs hadn’t choked in OT, that would’ve been a series clinching goal. But yeah in terms of raw skill, Mcdaddy’s goals are better.

MacK's first 4 seasons were developmental still. He was a 50-60 point guy, and then in 2018 he broke out. Since then, he's been slightly under McDavid in PPG during the season, and slightly over him in the playoffs.

5:30 is what makes Colorado so dangerous. When you have a defenseman who can step up as a forward like that an catch the defense flat-footed, it's usually game over. Makar is Mackinnon on defense.
Recently rated #2 center in the world 2nd to McDavid... but McDavid has nothing on his strength and would never drop the gloves against Mackinnon or anyone like MacKinnon would... makes him the best elite player in the world...

Then MacKinnon is better at literally every other aspect of hockey. MacKinnon's defense, physicality, checking, forechecking, competitiveness, acceleration, leadership, and of course WINNING SOMETHING are all better. I don't care if the other two score a few extra points against mediocre teams

He just doesn't have that kind of power. Matthews could only dream of being able to skate like MacK. Matthews doesn't have MacKinnon's hands either. Neither Mcdavid nor Matthews plays defensively as well as MacK. MacK is also better at maintaining puck possession and offensive zone time than either player. They cannot "do literally everything Mackinnon can". Matthews and his 0.84 points per game in the playoffs is pretty pathetic. He shouldn't even be compared to the other two.
