Beautifully played. I am 65 years old and still remember how to play this piece. It was my recital song when I was in the 9th grade. My best friend and I played it together during the two-piano performance of the concert. I still have the program. Great memories.
My dearests, thank you for watching! Please, don't hesitate to like and to comment - it's so great to get a feedback! I make my videos for you - subscribe to keep me motivated;-) Thankful, Anastasia
This was the piece that gave me the desire to learn piano when I heard it as a young boy. Your masterful and proud performance has now inspired me, as a man of 63, to re-learn this piece. I will never play it with your excellence but it will bring me great joy to make the attempt and return to my musical roots, so to speak. Thank you for the inspiration, Miss Huppmann !! :-)
Smiling...I loved seeing your comments, gabithemagyar! My sister playing "this piece" (four years older than me) was also what inspired me to at age 14 begin learning piano. I had begun at age 7(?), but after one year at recital goofed so badly that I quit!!! I went on to learn "this piece" eventually and played it at my last recital at about age 17. Years later my wife bought me a grand...and I began to relearn some of the music (including "this")...I was about age 54. I recorded "this piece" back then on cassette and later had someone put it on a CD. Recently(?) I was able to upload it to my youtube channel. The recording quality is very poor and likewise was never able to play it like Miss Huppmann...grin.
Who knew that a slightly honky-tonk piano could still produce such an enjoyable experience with Chopin. The performance was quite impressive, very clean.
She clearly breathes this music! It's probably the best I've heard! Most pianists rush through Chopin Polonaises, pounding out the notes - technically perfect but without understanding its lines- where it's going or how it returns home- and triumphantly so! I played this piece in my early teens, but only now see the difference the pianist makes! Bravo!
At twelve years old (in 1952) I heard this for the first time while attending boarding school in Kimberley, South Africa. Fabulous piece, beautifully played here by an inspired Anastasia, Bravo!
Loved the comment about the forearms burning. I played this work at my last recital in 1969 and my piano teacher did not attend because she was jealous that I could handle the long reach chords Chopin used and she had small hands and could not. Still love listening to this piece.
I`ve heard and seen all of your numbers that I can pull up,and guess what,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, You have exhausted my vocabulary for adorations ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, How can that be ?? First time in 80+ yrs. that has happened.. You are a record breaker, if there was ever one !! All I can do is cheer you on to higher goals, which I`m sure you can accomplish,, your talent has nourished me.............. Bob
When it sounds well played Chopin I immediately imagine beautiful Polish landscapes. This is how Chopin created his music, imagining beautiful Polish landscapes.
If Chopin knew about you playing this polonaise, he would have forbidden anybody else from playing it. Amazing elegance and brilliance!!! This is Anastasia :)
We can listen to this beautiful piece as many times as we wish. Those who heard it in Chopin's time, perhaps heard it two or three times in their lifetime - and that was if they were lucky. Now, we take classical music for granted because it is so accessible. I am now your fan for life!!!!
With all due respect (of course), I think this wonderful Chopin piece would have sounded a bit better (if that is even possible) if you had worn a much, much shorter dress. Yuja Wang is not the only pianist who has beautiful legs after all and great audacity to match her talent..... Bravo!!!!
Shikazu: i did say "with all due respect" - the female human body is not shameful. It is God's Masterpiece. If you look around, you will notice that the female form is used universally to attract attention, whether by artists, writers, sculptors, composers, or advertising agencies. Yuja has broken a barrier and so has Anastasia. Violinist Rusanda Panfili has also broken that barrier. One of her TH-cam videos has over 700,000 views. For classical music, that is huge.
Violinhunter2 ... Your words should have been prefaced "Without due respect " - to Anastasia & to Frederick. You listen with your eyes? What do you think with ? The music stands on its own merits ( performance & compostion ) without a requirement to wear a mini-skirt. Your other comment - re modern recording - was a much more interesting observation.- Thanks .. The things we take for granted !
Well: Well, yes, I actually do "listen" with my eyes pretty much all the time. If I were blind, the dress would be immaterial but fortunately, I am not. I avoid Joshua Bell and his ilk (Nigel Kennedy, Ara Malikian, Gilles Apap, etc.) precisely because they look so shoddy. I try not to think too much though; I feel the music mostly.
Ms. Huppman - You have done it again. This is yet another masterful interpretation of Chopin. You always seem to tackle the more challenging pieces and you do so with great artistry. It was a pleasure to see you in this live setting and to see you enjoy this piece as you played. Thank you again for sharing your remarkable talent with us.
It is delightful to see someone who is entirely "one" with the piano and the music...from the nuance of playing the notes to sharing your enjoyment of the way the composer turned a phrase. Thanks for sharing your talent with those of us who can't ever dream of creating the beautiful sound you do!
Merci.

Amazing and delightful. Distinct and dignified, but not heavy. Brilliantly composed and performanced. Very good video editing. Multidimensional beauty: 1. music and composition, 2. pianist - perfectly harmonized with the music: arms movements (e.g. 2:27, 2:37), hands movements (e.g. 2:40, 3:25, 4:17 - the right finger drills the sound), facial expressions (e.g. 1:13, 5:20), head movements (e.g. 2:05, 4:13) are charming, subtle, exquisite, not artificial. I see and hear that the pianist feels the song deeply (e.g. the smile that starts in 5:02 becomes serious in 5:05 like music at this point). Chopin's masterpiece is beautiful, but this performance gives an extraordinary charm - the music is enriched by ethereal style of playing. And all this - on the basis of synergy - provides such an amount of beauty that it can make the listener/viewer very addicted. Poems can be written about this performance, and if it were possible to access to whole recordings from all four cameras - dissertations can be written about this performance. Thank You! Regards from Chopin's fatherland - Poland.

Love it absolutely. A pretty pianist is nice too. I've got the music, got a broken wrist, can't play now. Drat. This Polonaise pumps up a patriot's heart. Have served in uniform. Have stood against the Soviet tyrants. Now American "soviets" want to take over. Not on my watch! From a son of Wojtek (Joyous Warrior). "Order of the day" from Holy Spirit: "Work out of your Prayer Closet, Son, Not your gun closet." (Yet, keep your "powder" dry and your "pipes" cleaned.)
This IS a stirring piece that is so very familiar to listeners of the Classical eras of music. The more I watch, listen and "feel" to expression of this master in piano Classics (Anastasia), the more I am glad to refresh my soul with unexplainable deep feel of many of the Masters of the Classical age. I like Chopin's repeating theme in notes and rhythm of this number: "Military Polonaise" OP 40 #1 in A Major.
Powerful and very pleasant chords, crystal clear notes, well-emphasized melody and a slavic super beautiful presentation! All the best, thank you for sharing!
Hello Anastasia, I really love your interpretation ! I played that too fifteen or twenty years ago, I don't remember well, but what I remember is that I liked this Polonaise a lot. When I saw you smile from time to time, it remembered me that I smiled too when I played it. It's very enjoyable, not only as music but also technically. There are few other pieces that made me feel that (like that, I would say Orage or the first Étude transcendante, the fifth and the eighth Étude-Tableau Op.33, mmmmh, I really love to play those). All the body is involved, not only the hands. And the brains too, of course. I always have shivers when I listen to this piece, no exception with your interpretation. I saw that somebody in the comments didn't like the sound of the piano but it's not my opinion. It's refreshing to hear a Fazioli rather than a Yamaha or a Steinway, even if it's not perfectly tuned. That sounds very clear, forte without being to loud and much more "musique de salon" (and it was what Chopin himself liked). You manage to keep not only an intimate feeling but also the martial aspect of this Polonaise and I really love the mix ! And that rythm… It's not even human. I'm sure you eat a metronome every morning with your cereals ! :D In one word : it was fan-tas-tic ! W.
Years of hard practice, and still I question how does a mere mortal do this? How?i, of the same species can inadequately appreciate what my eyes and ears witnessed.
I prefer listening to it than playing it. It's quite difficult to learn it. Fantastic playing. I would say that this is one of the best performances of this piece I've ever heard 👏👏👏💕🎹
I also played this in addition to Beethoven Sonatas as my other comment. This particular Polonaise caused my downfall in my senior year in high school, I froze somewhere after about a minute or two or three, total humiliation, I finished but never took another piano lesson again. Took it up casually 4 years later but then life happened........dear don't ever give it up!!!! You are talented~~~~
Beautifully played. I am 65 years old and still remember how to play this piece. It was my recital song when I was in the 9th grade. My best friend and I played it together during the two-piano performance of the concert. I still have the program. Great memories.

One of the bests perfomance ever. Lady Huppmann feels Chopin's soul. I'd like her to play in Poland.

Merci pour ce magnifique moment ! Bravo. .. Superbe . Vous vivez ' votre ' musique , c'est aussi beau de vous regarder jouer !
This staccato in the Polonaise beat gave it a very intelligent percussive aspect.
My admire to Chopin is immense, and your performances are splendid, a multidimensional experience, a High Culture.

As a Piano technician and tuner, this instruments needs work. The Pianist is wonderful! Not a easy piece.
Paul Sobus I agree totally. Did you hear the temperature of this instrument? It's just a pitty. (I'm also piano tecnician and tuner)
I am not a tuner, but I totally agree with you. The sound is annoying.
Is it too bright? (Honest question)
@@johndavolta3124 I don't remember replying to this, the piano sounds great, so does the pianist.

Exactly one year later on June 24, 2019 the last gift arrived. Anastasia is infinitely precious and inspiring.
Very talented lady. She has great hands and I have never seen anyone play with such energy and feeling.
Frederic Chopin is the best

This is just wonderful!
Saludos desde Perú 🇵🇪
I also played this in addition to Beethoven Sonatas as my other comment. This particular Polonaise caused my downfall in my senior year in high school, I froze somewhere after about a minute or two or three, total humiliation, I finished but never took another piano lesson again. Took it up casually 4 years later but then life happened........dear don't ever give it up!!!! You are talented~~~~
🙏🏻
ELEGANTE E MERAVIGLIOSA COME SEMPRE. BRAVA, BRAVISSIMA 💐
An absolutely magnificent performance.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
Bravo!!!
The very favourite piano componist and the very favourite female piano pianist - amazing and impressive.
Sos una genia... Ojalá algún día llegara a tocar como vos! Saludos desde Argentina!
