    Wow, subbing. That boat is a beauty. I was lucky as a kid I was able to grow up spending 25 years as boater on Lake Michigan with my parents. Thanks Mim & Dad😘😘😘. RIP TO BOTH OF YOU. My Dad would have loved this. We had many boats over the years, the last one was a 42ft Chris Craft. All wood, not nearly this fast. It had Twin V -8’s and probably had a top speed of around 25 to 28 MPH. It was an all wood boat, so it was beautiful but heavy. Our friends had the sister ship. It had twin 470 cu V-8’s and it would fly past us, I think his boat would hit about 40 MPH which was FAST for a boat of that size. Man I miss boating. However, I recall my Dad had a hanging on the bulkhead in the salon that read, Definition of a boat, it’s a hole in the water that one pours money into. LOL! That’s why I don’t own a boat, LOL.🤣🤣😂😂.

      Hello DJ, we might have met sometime on Lake Mich. We also owned a 41' Concurer w/lincoln 431's, all wood. This boat was out of Saugatuck. My last boat on lake Michigan I kept up in Charlevoix was a 44 ocean sport fish. Live in AZ now. Miss the lakes!

    • @troy9er
      @troy9er ปีที่แล้ว

      Rite, ours was the sister ship to that boat with smaller V-8’s guess ours was also a 41 ft. Too! Some friends had the same boat with the big V-8’s like yours, we would go to Michigan for the weekend. They had a big party weekend that we would attend. It was a blast! We would reserved the same dock space a year in advance. It was really cool. They would have a boat parade of lights (which we were in twice.) it was a big party weekend. The last year we attended I brought my girlfriend ( who is now my wife of 35 years! ❤️) what great memories. Maybe we did meet. There were thousands in attendance. It was a blast! We were docked out of Portage, In. So it was a pretty big trip for us. Thanks for responding to my post!😉 boy was I a lucky kid at the time. We spent the he weekend at the boatyard every weekend for about 25 years. Dad and I took the US Power Squadron boating course at a local high school one winter. It was really cool. I was a teen at the time. We learned how to chart courses and tons of other cool boating stuff. I was the youngest of 4 kids in my family. Started boating when I was 9 yers old. When I was a baby, my Mom & Dad had a small speed boat (we would take to the chain of lakes in Antioch, Il.) they would put be in the bow of the boat in a bed of life jackets and I would fall asleep the minute that Mercury motor would fire up! LOL! My older Brothers and Sister would ski/tube while I would sleep in the bow. Guess that’s why I never got sea sick! 😉 I was used to all the bouncing around from a young age. We would spend a month of weekends scraping and painting the boats ever spring. I was the bottom man, who would paint the belly of the beast with Tropicop anitfouling paint. Learned a lot about boats and their maintenance. Good times. 😉 I was docking that boat before I had a license to drive a car. When I was 16 years old. Thanks for responding to my post. You brought back some great memories!

    I’ve already got engine power, generator power, and fish ability blueprinted. I know what I want and don’t. I know what I want and roughly where I want it.
    I know what the vessel will be doing, and what she’ll be avoiding!
    After riding on Jarrett Bay, Bertram, Viking, Hatteras, Post, and other notable custom manufacturers, I really
    I hope that in 10-15 years, she will be a Jarrett Bay hull, design, and just a touch of my own flair to make her mine, and I am not priced out of the market. Her name is to be determined, but I plan on using a very hefty chunk of my retirement!

    • @JarrettBay
      @JarrettBay  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When initially built and tested with original engines it was a bare boat with few furnishings and no tower, so it's not an apples to apples comparison on those numbers.

    • @Regal2800
      @Regal2800 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JarrettBay The MTU is a bigger engine and assuming the latest version, the MTU will always produce more HP than the CAT. What made the owner choose the C32 B as opposed to the MTU 16v2000 M96? And the boat had room for the 16v.

    Do the gyroscopic stabilizers put unduly force and stress on the hull? Localized reaction forces large enough to stabilize such a large hull must be pretty structurally damaging?

    • @JarrettBay
      @JarrettBay  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The forces of a gyro on a hull structure are indeed great, and, as you inferred, they can be rapidly shifting.
      There are (probably) always upgrades to the mounting structure when a gyro is added into the equation. Our laminate and distribution drawings are derived from the data in the Force (moment) charts provided by the gyro manufacturer.
      I was not directly involved with this project so I can’t speak to the scope of it, but we tend to favor the robust side of construction.
      The truth is, the math is less magical and more boring than it may seem to the outside world. This is a great tech question. Thank you!

    • @Prototheria
      @Prototheria 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Off the cuff and based on what I know of repowers in the 500-700 HP range, I'd imagine this one was somewhere around $750k all said and done. Excluding everything else not related to making the engines run. If the total price of getting that thing to where it is was $3M+, I wouldn't be surprised.

    • @JarrettBay
      @JarrettBay  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The performance numbers shown were both taken during initial sea trials for the respective engines. There are some big differences from the initial launch (competitor engines), such as back then the boat did not have a full tower or most of the interior appointments that it has today.
