I am 68, and I started on jazz flute when I was a teenager. After studying for 30years I was at this sort of level - but then contracted a neurological illness which makes playing flute extremely difficult, so I know what you mean. I can still imagine the phrases and lines just as I used to - but the fingers and embouchure no longer deliver reliably.
