Yes, wasted years is about they're World Slavery Tour (1984/85), where they played 190 dates in 11 months.
At the end obviously they were drowned...

Adrian Smith said this song is a message to the listener to stop worrying about the time wasted in the past and instead focus on the present and the future that awaits. Nothing to do with the world slavery tour. I was at that tour on the 15th and 16th of September 84 at Newcastle upon Tyne City Hall.
