That was a perfect example as to why Kinnan is so powerful and so consistent That start was incredible and you can really only go up from there with kinnan Great shit guys! Loving the Kinnan content being dropped!
Eh, as Tyler pointed out, he drew the Seedborn muse the very turn it was needed, and that's what won him the game. Without that 1 in approximately 91 chance, he might have just sputtered and struggled that game. So to me this seems as a perfect example of why Kinnan is NOT consistent.
@@LegacyTangent that's not wrong, but theoretically whatever else he drew would have also fed into the strategy and wouldn't have been an entirely dead draw Now in that hypothetical, we'll never know what is drawn instead But Kinnan regularly has tons of consistency and when it comes to the specific strategies you want to attain with him he's got tons of similar cards in there to help out- where there aren't other Seedborn muses, I don't think he wouldn't been dead in the water with how much mana he had already at that point
Great game fellas. Really glad that you sequenced this video to coincide with the Kinnan deck tech you did earlier in the week. Makes me want to build the Kinnan deck now.
My first time playing Kinnan ever I went infinite on turn 2 with basalt and treasure vault. Absolutely nutty how fast it can happen when it's unchecked. It's great in longer games, but still has early game potential with the right hand.
Kinnan has found its way into my Verzol, the Swift Current casual deck since your podcast episode and it has been an amazing addition. It really ramps the deck and helps me dig for some really cool creatures when I'm threatening to flood out. It's an amazing card and super versatile! I'm liking it more and more.
It was great to play against Dylan and have you both sign my Braids, Arisen Nightmares! I need a rematch with Tymna Kodama … when it’s Thalrog (Thalia and The Gitrog Monster). You guys were all chill as hell and Tyler was hysterical for the two seconds he talked to me - great time all around at MagicCon!
The first thing I said to myself when Tyler took his first turn is "Dylan is gonna go for winota and get swept and Tyler is gonna run away with mana". I know its the bad play because its a 1 to 1 trade but using the goblin to blow up Tylers sol ring before he got to use it seeing that all he needed was a land to play and activate kinnan, definitely a risk reward situation.
You should Brew Thalrog. I've been seeing lots of Hulk lists, but mine is creature stax (that I can sac with Thalrog) and Chain of smog + Witherbloom Apprentice and Raz
If I learned one thing from this comment section it's that if you have a question about an interaction, or something happens in the video that you think shouldn't work, you should probably scroll through the comment section before asking the question ^^
The problem with Winota. Ppl see a single non-human on the board and Winota and go "omg we're losing next turn, let's get rid of it"... Despite having 0 stax or any kid of board for that matter. IMO, that vapor was really "premature, precocious"? I'm sorry, not a native speaker. Point is, he could have held onto that Vapor at least 1 more turn cycle.
I know you may not see this comment but I was wondering if there any new Momo Color cedh gameplays? Like K’rrik, Son of Yawgmoth for Black, Godo, Bandit Warlord for Red, Selvala, Heart of the Wilds for Green, Naru Meha, Master Wizard for Blue and Ao, the Dawn Sky for White
you could argue Thrasios/Tymna has to actually "build the boardstate" though still slapping lands on field for free. Kenrith the returned king and kinnon are the only two commander options right now where "your turn is their turn" and Kenrith even moreso because of the extra ways he can interact and protect stuff that kinnon can't. it really becomes "blow up the seedborne muse or lose" and i love watching someone be like "i'm gonna do this, cast this, triggers this, do this, win" like at a certain point, i'd rather watch someone throw down a Lotus Petal, a chrome mox with a blue or black non artifact card, and either a swamp or island, cast demonic consultation, then cast thassa's oracle than watch a kinnon or kenrith player win the game. and OMG i hate coming across those commanders in a tournament because i end up being the only one who knows we're just watching the kinnon/kenrith player win. i feel like the only commander option that can compete with that is Godo. That would be an interesting game episode, Thrasios/Tymna, Kenrith the returned king, kinnon, and godo. Could argue Gretchen Titchwillow is in the same catagory so maybe her instead of Godo.
Last game I played I had Leyline of Anticipation and Wilderness Reclamation at the same time. Would have had a flawless victory if the table didn't scoop.
The-the-the bruise on your head, I know how that happened. You told me the whole story. You were standing on your toilet and you were hanging a clock, and you fell and you hit your head on the sink. And that's when you came up with the idea for the flux capacitor..... ... which is what makes time travel possible.
I really thought you were going to bust out the spice girls there at the end. So I'll tell you what I want. Put the videos right here so I can watch them. As always, love your content.
Great game. Also, a great example of 'just because you can, doesn't mean you should." I am not sure the one Winota trigger was worth the card at that moment, especially with Kinnan about to untap with a ton of mana.
Triggered abilities are formulated as "At..", "When.." or "Whenever..". Seedborn Muse doesn't have that - it has a static ability instead, that is "simply true". What you're describing would work with Wilderness Reclamation, though.
so i have one question does u tapping your permanents with seedborn muse go on the stack because if so i think tyler could have had two kinan activations in the early turns with the metamorph giving 2 untaps
Here’s a dumb question but I’m going to ask it anyway. How does Seedborn’s untap ability work? Does it go on the stack or is it a state based action? Because for a second I was thinking with 2 Seedborn you could tap all your lands, activate Kinnan and then untap again but that’s clearly not the case
Triggered abilities always use the words "whenever", "when" and "at", so it's not a triggered ability. It is a static ability that essentially gives you an untap step during other player's turns.
Wait, question. Since Tyler copied the seed born muse with the phyrexian metamorph, couldn't he use Kinnan once then let the other seedborn muse trigger go off? Untapping again? Or does that not work how I'm thinking?
No, because it's not a trigger. Seedborn Muse says "Untap all permanents you control during each other player's untap step.". (That's not a trigger: triggers begin wiith "when", "whenever" or "at".) It just happens and it doesn't use the stack.
@therealax6 gotcha. Thank you! Magic can be very complicated alot of the times. Still wondering why he didn't copy the Winota or even more mana to dump into kinnan at that moment.
@@Kallastinsimply having seedborn down mean I was generating inevitability very quickly. Copying other things might have gotten me there a smidge faster, but having a backup seedborn made it so that a swords or solitude or pongify or drake wasn't going to stop me from activating every turn. In short - the more conservative play, but I stand by it
Couldn't Tyler have been activating Kinnan 2 times per turn with the double seed born muse? Since 2 triggers to untap hit the stack, couldn't he tap and activate in-between each seed born muse?
No, because they aren't triggers. Seedborn Muse says "Untap all permanents you control during each other player's untap step.". (That's not a trigger: triggers begin wiith "when", "whenever" or "at".) It just happens and it doesn't use the stack.
Wait I thought it was Impossible to hold priority at the beginning of combat before attackers without any triggers hapenning. I always thought it was either pre combat or after attacks, so dealing with attack triggers pre combat would come with the risk of them coming back. Wtf.
There isn't priority holding happening, there is a "Beginning of Combat" step during the combat phase which gives everyone a round of priority before the "Declare Attackers" step.
