    It'll be interesting. Students aren't always the best judges of what's best for them but they missed him and wanted him back. What the students need mid leaving cert course should matter in some way, so he could have a point, they used a hammer to crack a walnut. But........... i guess wilsons ground down by years of having no control over him. Any reasonable push back seems to embolden him in his stance. He's not restrained at all by court, his employers, media hazing. Who'd want him on their staff.

    • @kateisblue
      @kateisblue ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I don't think this is the case; it's what he's claimed but I've seen no evidence of student support, but definitely some evidence the other way - the student council wrote him a letter asking him to stop coming back to the school because it was disturbing their schooling.
      He may have been a decent teacher, I don't know, and it can be crap getting a replacement halfway through your leaving cert; but I don't think they miss him, I'd say they miss the stability.

    Thanks Terry for letting me keep up to date to this without feeling overwhelmed with anger and confusion. It's really lovely to actually see how the courts and legal system are set up to be as fair and stable as possible. They don't always manage it, but they do seem to work continuously to improve.
    I do not like or agree with Enoch Burke in any way, but I always appreciate how the judges do consider any actually valid points he makes and don't just gloss over it because of the rest of his nonsense. With people who are actually discriminated against for disruptive behaviour like travellers, mentally ill people etc, it's heartening to know that their arguments will be heard properly.
    Also as annoying as all his appeals etc are, I still appreciate that there's so many paths to reassess whether an injustice had inadvertently been caused. Having many voices independently reassess a case if needed feels like a much safer system than one person; as an engineer it reminds me a lot of quality assurance! 😁

    • @kateisblue

      I went through a deep dive of court systems a while ago and it's also cool to see how the European Courts work with the Irish courts! They sometimes disagree but the vibe seems to be "lets figure out together what the right thing is so we know for the future" instead of "how DARE you tell me what to do" or "Ugh youre so terrible for thinking that's right"
      It's actually so nice to see positive human communication and cooperation. Reading the citizen's assembly reports are really nice for the same reason! They're genuinely trying to hear each other, consider every issue and its potential impact, and come to solutions together.

    This video is a disgrace Enoch Burke whome I do not know is entitled to his Religious belief. I support him along with many others. It is not the job of a School to decide the gender of any child. It is a long process involving professional people. Many children regret their decision later in life as in media reports. Enoch Burke is the adult in the room here . The huge financial burden on Enoch Burke, imposed by JUDGES is a disgrace. He has sacrificed his career. His religous belief should have been given due process and discussion by his Principal and proper treatment of respect given. All this could have been avoided in my opinion. Children move on from school in the process of their education and usually their Teachers are settled in their chosed career. This episode will not help the students. Good Luck to Enoch Burke and to his loving family who support him so publically.

    When you consider how well Burke has been treated - & the tolerance proffered by the various members of the Judiciary, is it any wonder that this (latest) Judge has exclaimed, "Mr. Burke, you'd try the patience of Job..." - an understandable comment for how Burke has behaved on previous occasions within the Courthouse; if nothing else, he's a recidivist - & seemingly does not acknowledge the rule of law in regard to himself & that of his conduct thereto.
    It is understood that his objections are no less valid, but the way he goes about such remonstration does not serve his purpose well - & doubtful the Judge will find for him in the endgame. I'd say sequestration of his assets was a foregone conclusion. Many of my compatriots in Ireland concur...thank you for the clarity in regard to "substantive" claims...

  • @Goldenfawn

    Alas, Mr Burke's behaviour is not the substantive issue, his instructions to call a transitioning child with a neutral pronoun is, perhaps Mr Burke's response was strong but once again that's the effect not the cause, the cause is the substantive issue, the fact that the Courts deflect and claim the effect to be the cause is neither here nor there as the Courts are corrupt, and Mr Burke is right to call them out. If you or l considered we had a right to breathe and suddenly were told we could not and reacted strongly would we then be brought before a Court under disciplinary proceedings and told in very strong terms that we were out of order for attempting to stay alive. God help us too from Solicitors who swallow bricks and toe the line, and duly accept in an unquestioneing manner all that they are told just because it's a Judge telling them. These types of people are a disgrace.
