You could shoot a short video for each machine type showing the routine maintenance and grease points. Then have these linked using a QR code which is on a plate / sticker on the machine. Then the operator can refer back at any time to guidance on how to maintain it. The plate / sticker could be next to the control panel so there can be no excuses.
In my opinion this is one of the best utube channels out there shows you everything and how hard these men work well done bazz and director and of course your great crew of men
I was the same with that grease point to Baz on the side of the belt. Been on crushers for a year now and I only found that grease point because of your video a few months ago. They didn’t show me it on my in-house ticket training!
Me my wife and son all had the same flu over the last 2 weeks. I’ve never felt so ill in my entire life Baz. Brutal. Still coughing shit up over a week later. Hope you are back to full power now 👍🏼
Re the issue with the hidden grease points, haven't McCloskey dropped the ball by not having all the nipple's grouped together along side the jaw ones? Great video showing plant fitting as it is. Hope you're back firing on all cylinders soon...
1:00:00 , love that mans shop, I worked in a similar shop that was started in 1934, with the train tracks less that 8 meters from the building..... lots of old school machines, we did repair and some new parts manufacture....... the big lathes, drills and mills were also great to use, we had a 1x16 meter lathe that was adapted to weld build up, the gun was fed by the lead screw, and the rpm could down to about 1/4 rpm.......slow baby......it did one heck of a job on MIG weld build up on shafts.....
I’m a work through it mon as well, but I’ve had 1 bout maybe 10 years ago where I couldn’t move from my bed so I know the feeling and 3 days on the sick in 20 years isn’t too bad. I’ve not had this one somehow while everyone around me has had time off.
Your work evokes great delight and deepest respect. Your skill and hard work are above all estimates. Your hands rotate our planet in the right direction. Thank you for the opportunity to follow your projects. Health and good luck to you!
Brilliant way you showed the operator the grease points and explained the layout of the machine. He will know what to look for on the next machine and hopefully share his knowledge to others. Be Safe!
That flu bug really floors people. Good to see you finally getting over it(slowly). Fair play to you going to lie under a crusher when you feel rotten. As usual another great informative video. Hope they get a practice in place that all operators know where all the grease points are on the crushers(expensive lesson to learn). 👍
Always tricky when you get ill like that. I run my own business and like to set an example of being in unless I’m properly ill, and it’s really easy to convince yourself that you can’t be that ill, keep on going, then end up properly floored with it!! Been there and done it! Know what you mean on the “3 days off” too, you tell yourself a day at home and you’ll be right, but a day in you realise that’s not happening!! Hope you’re feeling better now Baz and keep up the good work!!
Haven't messaged you in a while. But just want to say, that your videos keep getting better. Every time i watch them . Amazing content, and very addictive to watch. Can't say enough about the A TEAM .
You need to make a folder up for each machine with colour photos of the grease point locations on the machine and fundamental maintenance checks. A separate sheet or computer based record with dates and times that the greaseeing is carried out, operator to intial this every time they carry out greaseing and checks. Any half decent operator will know the grease points on a 360 but a crusher is a different animal with hidden grease points, some remote from were logic would say the bearing location or pivotpoint is. Trouble is when dropping off a machine a simple walk around can be easily forgotten, and frankly, those unnloading often have little operational 39:43 experience of specific machines.
I think we shared that bug - started on the night of the 12th shivering like no tomorrow, then coughing up crud like you have never seen, keep them coming - drive safe!
BAZ, looks like you could use one of those sanding belt planishers /sanders/grinders that guys who do hand rail use to grind welds....the ones that have a belt with a splice that can be opened up and reattached, to you can get on those shafts that need some soothing out for bearing replacement...... by the way, I have the same Sanp-On dead blow ball been you are using at 56:00, and got it used in 1982.....the compothane is still holding up, I do not use very much, but all the other Dead Blow hammers I have bought have disintegrated , possibly due to oil or grease, some by just sitting in the tool box.....both Snap-On and other major brands.... I love my Sanp-On tools....started buying the in 1973....and still have the first 10mm socket I bought, but the rest of the set have gone feet and went on Walk About....... cheers my friends, Paulie
As usual, another great episode! Director is stretching his creative wings! Very nice music to accompany the job(s)!! Glad you are feeling better! But don't disreguard your health so much!!!!
so happy BAZ that you and the Director and Lads in the shop are feeling much better..... being sick is not fun , no matter what the weather or temperature is...... stay healthy.......PB
nice episode again That's the great thing about a McCloskey that you can push it off the ground. With a power screen you always have to drive him onto blocks. often done know what it is. and then it starts to rain. all that water also comes out of your jug
Hi Baz love your videos and your knowledge of the plant game is amazing. As I have said before I am retired and feel your pain in every job you do. Just a quicky for future. When you emery a shaft give the emery a full turn round shaft and then you will cover diameter giving it a clean in every revolution I have no doubt you know this👍good luck in the future. I am going to the Lincon truck show and was wondering if you guys will have a stand there. If so hope to see you maybe. I have booked the full weekend👍👍👍🏴
Hello again Welderfabber, l was a weebit hasty in my last reply because it started with that large bearing replacement but l did not watch the video to the end, my mistake! I also would have seen that have had the flu and watch replace that bearing in the rain, all l can say is RESPECT man absolutely love the vlogs/chapters.Regards also to the Director/colleagues.
At the start it confused me and the missing pictures but with u making it clear helped it doesn't take much to confuse me Baz. How many times I have seen u working on crushes thinking gona be same thing. Honestly speaking always pick up on something different and you working with your team never scared of dirt or rain and same with kaal and Luke you guys definitely work well together. Well done guys, great video as usual. May be get big dog Fox to splash some cash on bearing heaters & pullers, saves a ton of hard work, saves you smacking that pillar block to an inch of its life. Get well soon.
Watching the bearing replacement on the crusher, and lack of maintenance, it seems that Fox Group should make a check list for their equipment, that shows greasing points and intervals, instead of relying on manufacturers placards.....in hard to see places.....just a thought.... and also any other sort of field preventative maintenance that might be need, like inspection of belts, ect.... best wishes, a concerned viewer.... always great content, and capture Mr Director....and choice of Music.... Does the company clean your work wear or do you have to do your own,I would imagine if you did your own you would get through a few washing machine's 😊

Hi team, I really appreciate how you don’t fill the chronicle with advert’s like most channels, but to be fare I think you deserve to put a few more in especially the longer vlogs it’s only fare the effort you boys put in. As reference to the greasing education I’ve been on a few jobs now where operator shift hours/maintenance and hour logs have been in an app format, maybe specific grease location’s can be added to such a system when an op logs in and out of a shift on a numbered piece of plant. It’d be a large undertaking to set in place but like your main sponcer Autovolt stream lines the other side of the company’s management to great effect maybe I could be as successful managing the plant hire side.
wouldn't be difficult for Fox to implement but i imagine you could only do it for machines with your own operator supplied, if you just hire out a machine you can't make them use an app to log tasks, maybe if you give a hire discount, could also put how to guides on TH-cam for each machine, easy to access and refer back to,, maybe even more in depth to show other things to look out for that go wrong regularly
Hi, the app’s I mentioned was implemented by the main construction contractors who either hired the plant or hired a sub contractor company to do the work and I was on hire to the subby. The benefit to all participants is if a fault is reported and past on to the plant hire firm or contractor the liability of the expense to the main contractor is greatly reduced if any further damage or wear was to be caused. And in the case of machines ie digger’s etc etc there’s a manual supplied of each machine and in most cases a large information sticker on a cab window of greasing schedule of each of the grease point’s but most don’t even see they are there or understand how to interpret them. It’s the same with the lifting and dig parameter charts. As for greasing points it’s quite simple, if there’s a joint, knuckle, bearing or pin the chance’s are there’s a nipple. At some degree the blame is down to the op unless they are brand new. The video idea is good as simply put a lot in construction can’t read well. A QR code system would be useful for a little video to each type of machine but that’s on the manufacturer and not the one’s purchasing or leasing like fox. A system for the operator to be accountable and register that they have done daily checks and greased at recommended intervals and log machine hour’s is needed. The app would also notify the yard when service was due and faults found it could notify the op which points were due to be greased the paper system rarely works in a timely fashion wether it’s an op’s fault for not handing them in or an office not actually processing them but mainly they just don’t care as they are rarely brought to task and if they are they just move on to become someone else’s problem a app and data base could also cure that issue over time. The level of op knowledge is frighteningly low these day’s most don’t even understand to check an air filter let alone clean it from dust. As for adoption, agencies are the main supplier of operators to the industry so if firms like fox insisted agencies have the op’s use a system or be off hired for that client it’d roll out fast in my opinion.
Loosen the belt, drop the roller and change both bearings. You only do more work to save some money on parts and the other bearing is gonna fail soon so you do the same work on the other one later. Company ends up paying a lot more on work and other costs
Great video director. Glad to see yous got over the flu fairly quickly i know lads that its took 2 weeks to get over. How much weigjt did Baz loose. I reckon bout half a stone. Think a maintaince manual with a few picture showing at all the points that need constant looking after should be made up for all the machines not just the crushers. And getting the maintaince guy sign and date when its done. Won't be long finding out who slacking . Not great weather to crawling around in after yous were SO sick. I was wondering about the log wash plant. How come there is fabric on the logs? Take care guys and stay safe.
You boys work hard. Not many folk comming up behind you that want to do this work. The screen manufacturers couod do more to high light the grease nipples on the machine and guard them so they don’t get covered with grit. Pain the locations red and number them.
Those power harrow rollers are on the wrong way round, they should be shark fin profile cutting into the ground. Not sure how much difference it makes as the soil would be broken up.
Mate , I have my professional head head here. You should always put a personal lock on the isolation. HESE will jump all over you 👍 put in in your rams. If you need any help let me know 👍
Great episode baz director u nead to tell people to look after the plant I know things break but if they look after the plant it won't b so bad well keep up the good work and hope your cold goes and the director as well good episode from baz and the one and only director
You would think the Crusher manufacturers would put a big ass caution sticker on the machine expressly showing where every grease point on it is and with them grease points a procedure on how to access them.
If you are going through the trouble of replacing the floor of a bucket, why would you not at least use AR wear bars? I know you have your reasons, just curious as to what the rationale is.
