Blondie is a band, the singer is Debbie Harry. They were one of the early bands of the New York 70s punk/new wave scene (watch the CBGB film for that), and basically they created dance-punk.
Blondie is an American rock band co-founded by singer Debbie Harry and guitarist Chris Stein. The band were pioneers in the American punk and then the new wave scene of the mid/late-1970s New York City. Their first two albums contained strong elements of these genres, and although highly successful in the United Kingdom and Australia, Blondie was regarded as an underground band in the United States until the release of Parallel Lines in 1978. Over the next three years, the band achieved several hit singles including "Heart of Glass", "Call Me", "Rapture" and "The Tide Is High".
The band name came about after she dyed her hair blonde. she would be walking through the streets of NYC and men/construction workers would cat call her and say “hey blondie”
"Rapper's Delight" was an underground song that became commercial, over 4 millions copies sold of a Rap music 12" inch single so it was first. "Rapture" by Blondie was the first Rap song performed by a white Rock-Pop group.
Got to check out Call Me and Hanging On The Telephone. Debbie was absolutely stunning back in the day and had a real charisma. They’re still going strong today even though Debbie herself is in her mid 70’s.

I was 18 when this was splaying in nightclubs and the band are legends, Debbie Harry's voice is Angelic! She was 33 when she recorded this at club 54 in New york. ........... This is disco at it's very best, track produced by Graham Chapman in 1978 and it is heavily produced. Glad you discovered it. You need more 70' 80's and 90's music in your life believe me as you don't know what your missing out on.....Cheers
