What an amazing review! I’m not Brazilian but a fellow South American living in Britain and I will be very proud to see “I’m still here” winning the International feature trophy (especially over “Emilia Pérez”) 🤞🏾❤️🇧🇷

Dude, the president of Rio carnaval association just announced yestarday that they will screen the cerimony in the middle of the parade. ITS THAT IMPORTANT 😂❤
@@AustinBurke haha right? And its hilarious bc last year, Fernanda was saying for everyone; "Calm down, you dont have to cheer like it was the World Cup final" lol Well, we arw gonna do what we want, Nanda
I love how even ppl that are not aware of how terrible was this period of Brazilian history, the lack of rights, the tortures....even so, they still love it and by the end of the movie when they understand the story is REAL then love even more and want to know more about it ❤❤❤
We're already proud of Fernanda Torres, no matter what. She is an amazing actress and human being. And as she said a few months ago... We're sorry for the rest of the world, for not knowing what we know (our culture).
Austin, you're still in our hearts, bro! Thanks for the kind words! We're still here watching your videos and soaking in everything you say. The whole of Brazil loves you back!💛💚💙🤍
Austin Burke da Silva, we love you! and I don't know if you saw but your reaction when Ainda Estou Aqui got the BP nomination appeared in the most watch channel in Brazil. I'm a subscribe for at least 3 years in your channel and is so great to see you watching this wonderful movie made in my country.
SOME INFORMATION 💎 I'm Still Here is the first Portuguese-spoken movie to be nominated to the Oscar of Best Picture and the sixth that was nominated to Best Foreign Language (the fifth representing Brazil). 💎 Fernanda Torres's mother, Fernanda Montenegro was the first latin actress nominated to the Oscar of Best Actress (Katy Jurado, Rita Moreno and Norma Aleandro had already been nominated as Supporting Actress) and, to date, she was the only Portuguese-spoken actor nominated to the award, but her daughter just repeated this. That was in 1999, with the movie Central Station, also directed by Walter Salles and nominated to Best Foreign Language Film. 💎 Fernanda Torres, Selton Mello and Fernanda Montenegro played in Four Days in Septemper, brazilian movie nominated to the Oscar of Best Foreign Language Film in 1998, also about brazilian dictatorship period. 💎 Fernanda Torres, aged 20, won the award for Best Actress at the 1986 Cannes Film Festival by the movie Love Me Forever or Never (tied with Barbara Sukowa, by Rosa Luxemburg). She was the first brazilian actress (of two) to win an award in Cannes. The second one was Sandra Corveloni that, coincidentally, was directed by Walter Salles. 💎 Fernanda Torres was the fourth brazilian actor nominated to Golden Globe, but the second with a Portuguese-spoken performance. The first one was her mother. The other nominees were Sônia Braga (Kiss of the Spider Woman, Moon Over Parador and The Burning Season) and Wagner Moura (Narcos). 💎 Fernando Torres, father of Fernanda Torres (yes, they got the same name), played in Kiss of Spider Woman (4 nominations to the Oscar 1986, William Hurt won Best Actor) 💎 I'm Still Here is the fourth movie of Walter Salles to be nominated to the Golden Globe of Best Foreign Language Film (Central Station won, and the other nominees were Behind the Sun and Motorcycle Diaries) and the second nominated to the Oscar of the same category (Central Station was the first) 💎 Fernanda Torres gained a pop star quality in Brazil because her performances in the sitcoms Normal People and Slaps and Kisses
I'm still here é um fenômeno aqui no Brasil. Já foi visto por mais de 4 milhões de espectadores. Fernanda Torres é muito popular e amada por nós brasileiros. É maravilhoso os americanos estarem descobrindo essa atriz maravilhosa.
As a brazilian this move is all we can think about and talk about for the past few months, extremely proud of our country, hopefully we can bring home some hardware
fun fact: even though Fernanda had already done some great drama works in the past, she’s more known in Brazil for her comedy sitcoms, and for being funny and quirky in interviews. So it is an amazing surprise to see how versatile she can be by her work in this movie. Loved your review
Austin Burke! You really put all the weight of your heart into your comments, that made us proud, very proud of your work... Oh! Just to give you an idea: the Slogan of authoritarianism was: "Brazil - Love It or Leave it" Seriously...How can anyone love tyranny?... Eternal congratulations deserved to you ✨✨✨✨✨ 👏👏👏👏👏
Austin, what a great surprise I´ve had with your channel. Clearly you love movies as much as I do. Even being quite young. Thanx for understand and support a movie that we, brazilians, have been very proud of. Despite of being a very emotional and important movie for us, It also gets the zeitgeist of this moment of the world, falling down on hate, prejudice, violence, intolerance... Great review. ❤
Thanks for your review! this film is a masterpiece, and yes we are very proud, you can't imagine!! and the best part of all this: the Oscar will be on carnaval sunday here in Brasil 😊🎉 if it wins we will not sleep for 4 days, just partying kkkkkkk
It really feels like World Cup in Brazil. The best part is that the victory is fully deserved 🎉 P.S. Have you ever watched the legendary “Central do Brasil” featuring Torres’ mother? It’s one of the best movies I’ve ever watched.
As a Brazilian, I still think Demi will win best actress but I'm Still Here has a real chance of winning best international feature film after all the controversy and drama with Emília Pérez
You asked about us being proud, and that’s the perfect word to describe it. We are so happy and proud to see the world acknowledging our movie, and I can’t even explain how I’ll feel if we win any of these awards. For me personally, it’s about more than that. It’s about getting to see a movie with the icon Fernanda Montenegro win something, and for her to be an Oscar winner
So many things to say about this movie. It's almost incredible how it shows even in little details exactly how middle class people lived in Rio in 70's. Fernanda Torres is not Fernanda Torres: there's someone else behind the character. And there's Walter Salles: he's so great that i have no words, cz only now i realize what he's really doing: he has a trilogy in which he talks about tragedy and loss. The tragedy forces displacement. He talks about Brazil. Thank you for the review!
From Brazil: thanks for your review and your lovely words. We appreciate. Better: we will try to correct you and flood you with awesome suggestions of other movies. And maybe you will spend time reading Wikipedia and listening to our music, maybe one day you may start to read “Machado de Assis” and searching a good place to eat feijoada.
The first third of the film when you’re just spending time with the family with the dictatorship in the background made the father’s abduction so much more impactful, I felt for this family and felt like the father was taken from me too.
Oh yeah!! We’re very passionate about his film over here, so you can have an idea, it will be carnival in Brazil when the Oscar happens, for the first time in many years the biggest open channel of the country will air the OSCARS and people will be partying at carnival and then stopping at a bar to see the awards 😅 it’s going to be wonderful!
Hi. We, here in Brazil, are excited for people from other countries to learn about our TRUE culture and history. But this movie, most of all, shows a reality that is not in the past, but seems to be spreading more than ever throughout the world today. It is sad, it is dangerous!I’m Still Here is also a warning for people to pay attention that devastating dictatorships can begin without the majority even realizing it.
Hey Austin! I would like to recommend "Blindness" 2008 with Julianne Moore. Also directed by a Brazilian director called Fernando Meirelles. It's the same feeling management type of movie. I think you'll like it. ❤
Amazing review! Thanks for bringing in your expertise! We are already so proud for all the nominations, but if the movie and Fernanda wins, we will declare national holiday 😂
Man, i'm from Brasil and answering your question, we gonna feel very proud. Its like Fernanda Torres said, we now your culture but everyone out there doesnt know ours, so is like we showing a part of our cuture that we feel very proud about.
What really got me in this movie is the total respect and attention to details. Acting focused on the real people behind the story, photography and directing totally on point. The whole cast is realistic in the idea of being real family and friends (and they are a group with the best actors in Brasil). It really pays tribute to the real people that the film was representing, and in this specific awards season, this is a refreshment.
I know I have written this before, but I'll go ahead and say it again. I'm Still Here does have a good chance to win Best International Feature with the controversy surrounding Emilia Perez and the fact that it also got into Best Picture.

Fernanda Torres delivers an extraordinary performance in I’m Still Here, demonstrating her mastery of nuance, depth, and emotional intensity. With every scene, she captivates the audience, balancing raw vulnerability with a quiet strength that lingers long after the credits roll. Her ability to convey complex emotions with subtle expressions and precise timing is a testament to her artistic maturity and deep understanding of the craft. What makes her portrayal truly remarkable is the authenticity she brings to the role-every gesture, every silence, every glance feels deeply lived-in, as if she is not merely performing but embodying the very essence of the character. This level of commitment transforms the film into an immersive experience, making it impossible to look away. Her Golden Globe recognition is well deserved, not just as an acknowledgment of this singular performance but as a celebration of a career defined by excellence, fearlessness, and an unwavering dedication to storytelling. 👏👏👏👏
I can assure you that Brasil is already out of the moon for Best Picture nomination and Fernanda Torres' Golden Globe. Of course the Oscars is a great recognition, but Brasil knows that this game is not always played by fair rules, but both Fernandas are very cherish persons in Brasil culture.

Fernanda Torres delivers an extraordinary performance in I’m Still Here, demonstrating her mastery of nuance, depth, and emotional intensity.
