What a beautiful scarf! This makes me want to obtain some random mill ends and make a similar chaos accessory! The garter stitch texture matches the vibe perfectly, and the blunt tip is very much part of the chaotic character of the thing! Thanks for uploading, it's a happier Thursday morning for me now!
ooooh! I love your scarf! the colours are great - obviously - but that shape also works really well - I'll have to remember that (mwahaha). I didn't obsess about my personal style until I started sewing and knitting most of my own clothing (I still buy some things but not many) and now I think about it constantly. It brings my life joy and wonder and I (and absolutely no one else, lol) love it and all my outfits. My style is usually a mish-mash of vintage and history bounding - I have three main asthetics: - Aspiring Hedge-witch - Your Hippy Mum (or possibly this should be Hippy Grandmother as people my Mum's age are now almost all grandparents, yikes) - Queer Academia (i.e. dark academia but brighter and more gay) which I wear when I have to look sensible for work.
I love your chaos scarf! It seems fitting to have a tip-less end. I too aspire to have a medieval NPC vibe to my clothing. Your orange and green sweater with linen skirt was perfect for that aesthetic. I am a new knitter and I am inspired by you.
Ah, the style pendulum. I dress casual emo-punk, in handmade earthy clothes, vaguely 1940's, or pink and cute. It's all over the place, but I can't imagine not being able to dress as any one of those four. That said, I try not to buy anything new either, so it can be REALLY hard to feel like I'm properly dressed in the style I want. Also, eastern uncrossed knitting for the win! I also prefer circulars ❤
I wouldn't have been able to tell that tip was unfinished if not for the yarn end sticking out! Your scarf is so fun and it looks so soft and squishy!! Also pls tell your husband that his pun is appreciated haha
I am always down for Jente shenanigans! Your videos never disappoint. That coat of no particular color would totally be mauve 😂 And my personal style seems to be … librarian? Hand knit sweaters, trousers, and blouses. I’m also a first-year English teacher while nearing the end of my 30s, so I think it fits!
I love a good scrappy/all the colors together project. The first adult sized sweater I ever finished (I started a few before that never got very far) has similar vibes. I've been enjoying all your projects very much.
I love it. If you have a few yards of the lovely Zwartbles that you spun last year, maybe you could finish the tip. I think it might make you feel better 🧶🐑

I have so many novelty print skirts??? I used to work in a boutique with a strict slacks and button downs in black or navy and part of the reason why I looked for a new job was because I felt quite bad about myself in clothes I wasnt able to show my personality with. (nothing against slacks and button downs and I do still wear them on occasion but I have novelty button downs too now >:) Also gonna be that guy: I love shawls. Greetings from Montana😊 Your freestyle spinning, knitting, wardrobe is so beautiful and refreshing. I look forward to watching your videos and have learned so much. Thank you for sharing your joy. I shall become a patreon to support your channel😊. I think you said you had one😊.
The style of clothing I wear is very different from the style of clothing I *want* to wear. I’ve always loved the bold aesthetic of ladies who wear muumuus and big, colourful jewelry. I just wear black right now 😅
I just started a basic triangle scarf out of handspun as well :D and I also fogged at least 5 times before settling on a nice garter boarder and a stockinette center triangle to show off my silk blend yarn’s shine. For chaos!
New viewer and I have to say, I'm loving the chaotic energy. But if I wasn't following already, The Kingkiller Chronicles mention definitely did it. Still waiting patiently for Doors of Stone to come out!
@MijnWolden Honestly, your friend might be right! I got my grandma to read Name of the Wind and got her hooked. Now she asks me every year or so if the new book is out. At least the novellas help somewhat.
I love the scarf/spesjaal. And you dealt with the long blue and white section perfectly. If that were my scarf one OCD side of me would want to find some yarn to finish off the tip. The part of me that is OCD about things being autological would want to leave the tip unfinished, because that reinforces the idea of chaos. And there is a part of me that is half-remembering the long lost days of my youth when I might have worn and never quite got around to finishing some garments that I'd made... I would recommend that you put the pattern on Ravelry, perhaps with instructions on how to spin chaos yarn.
Have you watched Sarah Howard “wear your weaving “ videos most done on a knitters loom. I luckily picked up a 25 old style rigid heddle loom at the charity shop the other day needs minor repair, can be used as is just need to get to it.
I'm currently knitting a garter stitch Boomerang Shawl with the 24 days of Advent colours that my daughter blended into rolags. I t's very wild and colourful, I think you would approve. I was originally going to weave a scarf with it but my daughter wanted to see it knit and who am I too upset her lol. I generally don't wear bright colours, I used to wear black on black but now I like Autumn tones. So far my Advent scarf is blue, fluoro orange and bright pink. There re many more colours to come and it will end with candy cane red and white. It will certainly make a statement on muted me.
Best scarf ever! 😁 My fave items to make are scarfs, then cushion covers yeah dont ask, I'm odd .. but very warm and comfy also 😂 My brain gets anxiety at not finishing the scarf to a point at each end.. thats just me and my own special weirdness though, but its a good scarf, I love it and tbh I never would have noticed if you hadnt pointed it out 😀
Maybe to finish the tip you can use that bright orange spindle spun miniskein that didn't really go well with the other spindle spun skeins? I feel like the colour would not be misplaced in your chaos scarf (which I love btw)!
my style is great grandma style of fashion. i wear a flowing skirt and a shirt or sweater of some sort. some slip on shoes but your scarf would fit me beautifully if i were more fancy of an old lady. lovely scarf u have made.
What a lovely scarf! Personally the non-symetrical edges would bother me. More so physically that the edges wouldn't match in my hands than visually. I vote you make another chaos skein and just use a small portion to finish this scarf and then make a chaos hat or something to go with it for next winter.
Not to be unnecessarily nice here, but I have to admit that when my friend recommended your channel and I watched your first videos, I LOVED your style from the very beginning! I'm a Jeans and longsleeve type of person and it has taken me YEARS to realise that you can get shirts ... with prints. (I am not kidding, I'm mostly wearing unicoloured shirts). I have no idea what style I'd like, I'd LOVE to get inked, but I have been overthinking getting a tattoo for the past twenty years or so. ;) I love my handknit socks and shawls and scarves though and I want to knit my own sweaters now and see what I like. :) You scarf looks absolutely AMAZING AND UTTERLY BEAUTIFUL! I'd leave it as it is. It gives another layer of character. It's a design feature! (Also, thanks to you, I dug out my spindle for the first time in YEARS.)
@@MijnWolden No, I don't think so. ;) You're right. I guess this came out wrong (and I apologise for this, I really love your style, that's what I meant)
Looks like i have a different opinion, but personally i would be driven by anxiety and irritation to grab some yarn from stash and add a tip. But ultimately, go with what feels right 😊 Oh and i love the special pun!
At the time of recording I didn't have any stash yarn that I would want to add to it, I do have some now, but now I'm so used to this scarf being one and done
My style is semi hippy as my children say my grandchildren just say it is bright I am 71 and bright colours are the norm for me I had to wear all black or black and white for the last 17 years of my working life, went back dressed as me and they didn’t recognise me . Ha ha.
@@MijnWolden: Frankly, I think a lot of uniforms are forms of "micro-abuse". ("Micro-abuse", the close and unpleasant cousin of "micro-aggressions", I just decided to add the word to the English vocabulary). They're almost never well designed for the weather, they're almost always made either mostly or entirely of synthetics, and, in recent years, the trend appears to be towards making them all black. Now, there is a place for black clothes - but, typically, if I am wearing one black garment, I want the others to be in contrasting colours, including some bright ones.
Hey. I would just add another color from stash. To how invested i am in my style right now? Waking up. Is the sun shining? Choose outfit. Is it monk friendly? Great. Choose which of my shawls i wrap around for the temperature changes. Done. Only my knitting has style. Have a good day. Also i have a bunch of phangs coming and I need your adress as they fly to europe end of may.
Im masculine nonbinary.. despite the reputation for fashion in those labels I am.. I dress in.. very simple styles? So simple I cannot think of the name. Jeans, plain shirts, black tennis shoes.. I have lots of hats and socks, but i hardly remember to wear my hats. Id like to go through my clothing soon and donate whatever I don't really wear. Im coming out of a slump. Garter stitch is so squishy,,
My personal fashion style? Erm…. Eclectic Ethnically oriented? A mix between casual office chic and statement pieces you can’t easily find in Belgium Depending on mood, inroads into Comfy slouch, as in the oldest, bumpiest, roomiest sweater with a pair of pants Methusalem would have been proud of - admittedly for hole office days with the camera off during remote meetings. Parties and formal gigs are met full force by vintage glam mixed with pieces that have strong ethnic influences hailing from the countries I’ve lived in, thrifted va-va-voom shoes and crazy jewellery because, well, I always wear crazy jewellery. Do I pay attention to my wardrobe choices? Most days. Always when heading out in public. Am I concerned about shape, fit, balancing out of my figure? Of course. Because I’m built like a Formula 1 car: next to nothing on top and everything on the lower part of the chassis. A plunging neckline reveals the colour of my shoes because there’s nothing up top to obstruct the line of sight. The ta-tas are a study in minimalism. Unless I add stuffing. (Hand knit fake bra stuffers are awesome because they’re washable and breathe). So yes, yes and yes again: attention for fit and style are a must or the end result is definitely unbalanced and prone to slippage. Slippage is undesirable in a work setting. Or in line at the supermarket. Colour is a big thing. Sad beige makes me look like something the cat dragged in and that should have been buried three days ago. So does carrot top green and mustard yellow. I try to choose colours that at least make me look moderately alive, preferably healthy. I do my due diligence to pick colour combinations that don’t clash and cause the enamel to chip of my peers’ teeth. A minimum of vanity is part of self care. And of not wanting to inflict trauma on society. When in doubt, I consult my very stylish daughter. If she nixes an outfit, I listen and let her re-style it. Edit: I love that scarf! I love pieces that have many colours because it makes it easier to combine with my entire wardrobe! I’d scour through my stash to find another colour to finish it rather than frogging it and resizing the decreases.
@@MijnWolden - I happen to be lucky enough to have a very wise mother, who once told me that if it’s written in Christian faith that we should love our neighbour as we love ourselves, we need to start loving ourselves at least a little bit, because otherwise, that comparison wouldn’t make sense to start with. It kind of has self love built into it. I wasn’t overly fond of myself at that point in life and needed those words. 😊

Now one side of my chaos brain thinks: yes, pattern. And the other says: no, it's chaos, you can't write down chaos in a pattern :D
Have you watched Sarah Howard “wear your weaving “ videos most done on a knitters loom. I luckily picked up a 25 old style rigid heddle loom at the charity shop the other day needs minor repair, can be used as is just need to get to it.
I haven't seen the videos, but I've seen some of her projects on photos - very inspiring! Have fun with your new loom 😁
I do approve of the statement 😁
I think get a tad more yarn from your stash to finish the tip !🎉
We'll see :D I've been wearing it as is for a couple of weeks now
Best scarf ever! 😁 My fave items to make are scarfs, then cushion covers yeah dont ask, I'm odd .. but very warm and comfy also 😂 My brain gets anxiety at not finishing the scarf to a point at each end.. thats just me and my own special weirdness though, but its a good scarf, I love it and tbh I never would have noticed if you hadnt pointed it out 😀
Everybody has their own flavour of weirdness :D
Maybe to finish the tip you can use that bright orange spindle spun miniskein that didn't really go well with the other spindle spun skeins? I feel like the colour would not be misplaced in your chaos scarf (which I love btw)!
The colour would fit lovely indeed!
Love your scarf. You could probably wear it like a Sontag. I would either leave the end in chaos or add from your stash.
It's just a tad bit too short to be worn as a Sonntag (I've tried)
@@MijnWolden bummer, that would have looked great on you.
It looks lovely
Thank you :)
I’d go for stash and knit the last bit but I feel like you’d probably prefer to leave it as is and that’s fine too 🎉
It's been like this for a couple of weeks now yes 😅
@@MijnWolden it’s weird but it starts feeling like I know you! Next time you go through Provence we should meet up!
So... that's next September ;)
my style is great grandma style of fashion. i wear a flowing skirt and a shirt or sweater of some sort. some slip on shoes but your scarf would fit me beautifully if i were more fancy of an old lady. lovely scarf u have made.
flowy skirt/dress with a sweater has been my go to for the last month or two. It's just so comfortable.
What a lovely scarf! Personally the non-symetrical edges would bother me. More so physically that the edges wouldn't match in my hands than visually. I vote you make another chaos skein and just use a small portion to finish this scarf and then make a chaos hat or something to go with it for next winter.
Now that's an idea I can get behind 😁
Bjoetifel 😍 Beautiful daughter of mine!
♥️
You scarf looks absolutely AMAZING AND UTTERLY BEAUTIFUL! I'd leave it as it is. It gives another layer of character. It's a design feature! (Also, thanks to you, I dug out my spindle for the first time in YEARS.)
Is there such a thing as unnecessarily nice? Have Fun spindle spinning!
@@MijnWolden No, I don't think so. ;) You're right. I guess this came out wrong (and I apologise for this, I really love your style, that's what I meant)
@@sonnenblumenimp Oh don't apologise! I know what you meant, I just sometimes like to go on philosophical tangents...
Are you maybe thinking of Saruman? Saruman of the Many Colors? Where Gandalf then says: "I liked white better."
No, I was most certainly thinking of Taborlin, but remembered it incorrectly 😅
Looks like i have a different opinion, but personally i would be driven by anxiety and irritation to grab some yarn from stash and add a tip. But ultimately, go with what feels right 😊
Oh and i love the special pun!
At the time of recording I didn't have any stash yarn that I would want to add to it, I do have some now, but now I'm so used to this scarf being one and done
sounds like problem solved then! 😀
My advice: put about 5 tiny pom poms along the non pointy edge
Wouldn't they be stuck to my throat the entire time?
@@MijnWolden along the bind off edge.
😊❤❤❤
My style is semi hippy as my children say my grandchildren just say it is bright I am 71 and bright colours are the norm for me I had to wear all black or black and white for the last 17 years of my working life, went back dressed as me and they didn’t recognise me . Ha ha.
Black is the least used colour in my wardrobe, that would practically count as mental abuse to me 😅
@@MijnWolden: Frankly, I think a lot of uniforms are forms of "micro-abuse".
And sometimes they also make you more of a target for people with bad intentions...
I'll send you the address over Instagram DM!
I say Chaos Scarf (tm) isnt symetrical by design ;)
Good definition!
Chaos natuurlijk! Niemand die het ziet.😂
Inderdaad 😁
Im masculine nonbinary.. despite the reputation for fashion in those labels I am.. I dress in.. very simple styles? So simple I cannot think of the name. Jeans, plain shirts, black tennis shoes.. I have lots of hats and socks, but i hardly remember to wear my hats. Id like to go through my clothing soon and donate whatever I don't really wear. Im coming out of a slump. Garter stitch is so squishy,,
Donating is a great way to give your clothes a new life ☺️
My personal fashion style? Erm….
Eclectic
Ethnically oriented?
A mix between casual office chic and statement pieces you can’t easily find in Belgium
Depending on mood, inroads into Comfy slouch, as in the oldest, bumpiest, roomiest sweater with a pair of pants Methusalem would have been proud of - admittedly for hole office days with the camera off during remote meetings.
"A minimum of vanity is part of self care". I never thought about it that way, but isn't that just the truth?
@@MijnWolden - I happen to be lucky enough to have a very wise mother, who once told me that if it’s written in Christian faith that we should love our neighbour as we love ourselves, we need to start loving ourselves at least a little bit, because otherwise, that comparison wouldn’t make sense to start with. It kind of has self love built into it. I wasn’t overly fond of myself at that point in life and needed those words. 😊
