    I vote Cardigan. I love when couples wear coordinating outfits. There is so much love that goes into making an item for someone. Each stitch is a thought about them.

    Oh goodness, I have just remembered, when I was in college (18yrs old) I knitted a sweater for my boyfriend of 5 years - we split before I finished the sweater - my fault, because I had met my future husband . But I did give it to him about a year later. We stayed friends for many many years until he got married and moved to Australia at age 38. Our birthdays are on the same day.

    I vote cardigan!! That would look so cute on you! And well done! I’m a somewhat new knitter, and I spun a bunch of yarn for a sweater I wanted to knit for myself. I got 3/4 of the way finished and ran out of yarn. When I finally spun some more, I went back to the pattern and was so confused, I didn’t know how to proceed! So there it sat for months.
    Unto a couple of weeks ago, I frogged the whole thing so I could use the yarn to do some dyeing experiments! I actually watched your video on smoke bush tree dyeing and used it to do some dyeing with that, though alas, I did not get blue. I harvested the leaves in October and no blue.
    But anyway, well done you, you finished it! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

    Best compliment ever is that Dries couldn’t wait to wear it and had to give it back to be blocked.
    About the Husband/Fiancé Sweater Curse: you can add the Kid Sweater Curse to that. I’ve lost count of the items of clothing I’ve started knitting only for my daughter to get a growth spurt of absolutely epic proportions before I was done. No matter how fast I knitted, no matter that I started knitting TWO sizes larger than I thought I’d need, no matter if I started right as she got OUT of a growth spurt. Fortunately for me, I quickly learned the mostly gained in height and there is the blessing of a provisional cast-on that makes it possible to add length to the body. Knit tye arms last, and also do a provisional cast-on for the sleeves, omitting the border so you can add lengtthere too.
    She’s 20 now and has stopped growing. End of the curse? We’ll see… LOL

    Yay for spit splicing! I knew what you were doing before the caption 😂
    I was going to suggest cardigan, as that’s what I’ve seen you wear in so many of the videos I’ve binge-watched over the last week or so 😅 I also think knitting the *exact* same sweater for yourself would be similar to second sleeve syndrome, or an epilogue to sleeve island … never ending! I would enjoy seeing the process and finished result of the matching set if you can handle more of the same yarn!
    My husband has only one sweater I’ve made for him … and it took me a while to give it up! I did make it with his body in mind, but his barrel-chest measurements made me swim in it. It fits him much better than it does me.

    • @MijnWolden
      @MijnWolden  ปีที่แล้ว

      I made the sleeves two at the same time to not have second sleeve syndrome, so that is something to think about indeed!

  • @resourcedragon
    @resourcedragon ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes, I want to see what you do for your matching garment.
    Which do you think you would find most useful, a jumper, a cardigan or a vest? Knit the one you would wear the most - or the one you would enjoy knitting the most.
    I'd be curious to see more details about the knitting pattern, the actual patterning on the knitted fabric, that is.

    Your giant hubby is adorable. Good humor in him. The sweater looks like it was made for him ;). I think you should knit the cardigan for yourself. I'm cool with matchy matchy outfits for couples just not looking like the bobbsey twins. That just feels a little strange to me. That sweater turned out fantastically, it fits him wonderfully even without blocking! I finished my husband's sweater, the problem with mine was that I also Frankensteined a pattern and took my measurements from a sweater to make a cardigan. Apparently he prefers his cardigans to be more loose than his sweaters (I am the opposite) so my original estimate was low. I think you should make a cardigan so we can see what the pattern originally wanted!

    Well done on Knitting for your Giant.
    I love his Sweater, mmmm, has you were going to knit Matching Sweaters then now I have a dilemma 😮😮
    I'd love you to stick to your original plans but if you feel that you don't want to knit the exact same one for yourself, then maybe go for a Cardigan. Then it could be called a Twin Set ( that used to be a Vest top and Matching Cardigan for Ladies )
    I think maybe you should knit something small in a different colour just to give yourself a break from the brown yarn.

And yes please I would like to see your progress. My question, as a non weaver, is ... how do you make a sock weight, or 4 ply or dk yarn ? is it by the thickness of floof that you pull from the fluff ball, or do you first spin the thin yarn and then respin 4 or 5 strands together into a thicker yarn?
