A guy near us built a new house and popped up with a 93 Lightning and a 93 454ss truck all at the same time. We were in the country and he was my new idol for so long. He would stop in front of our house and do burnouts.

My husband and I bought a 1990 454 SS. Dearly loved that truck...it was my truck until 2016. Brakes went out and I wrecked it. We put a gear vendors on it, had better gas mileage than. 😊

Truck brings back memories of the good old days for sure. Buddy of mine had a black ‘90 model in around 93-94 I believe . But he sold it and ended up building a regular ‘90 model 1500 with one of the 502 crate engines. I think I was 17 at the time. Hard to believe that’s been 30 years ago 😔

I just bought a 91 black 454 SS real 37,000 miles One owner Guy I’ve known most of my life has medical issues. He wanted me to have it and he wouldn’t take more than four grand. I felt very bad, actually doing it. But very blessed at the same time.
The truck is great and all but I must say I was impressed to see that Phantoms background for his phone is a Pic of him and Mallory. Takes a great man to keep that background. Good on you, Phantom.
I drove a pre-production ss454 around Talladega before the spring cup race as a promotion for GM with the head of Chevrolet motorsports riding shotgun. Was a great experience for a young gearhead. The first year trucks only had one option available...a $7 locking gas cap lol as long as you like black with red interior and a corporate gas card, this was your truck. I drove it back to the dealership and drove it for several months to promote it until GM released it for sale. GM provided me with the truck and an open parts bin to develop over the counter mods. These trucks are not just a big block in a production 1/2 ton, at least the first 2 years. There is a ton of factory goodies done with the suspension.
91 is supposedly the first year for the 4L80

There's lots of "gems" out there BUT most who have 'em know what they've got and won't part company with 'em EVEN in their heart of hearts they'll NEVER do a dang thing with 'em. It's COOL but really SAD,, both at the same time.

I love it murder drives 3-4000hp or whatever they are nowadays on the reg and the ol 250hp in an Chevy still does it for him. You know it’s truly in his blood.
My buddy had a off the show room 93 454 ss, it was cool and never passed a gas station it didn’t like.

I had a Red on Red 454 SS truck. I still have the box. The cab and frame were trashed in an accident. I dont remember what happen to the drivetrain. Scrapped everything but the rear frame, rear end and the pickup box. I get some looks from people when i im hauling my grass clippings or tree branches to the dump in it.

Talking about smog pumps my dad and his buddy put one on a bracket car and it picked up time. They pulled vacuum on valve covers into a catch can. So my dad did the same thing on his f150 with factory smog pump
I worked at a local Chevy dealer back in the early 90s and we had 2 93s. Both black and they went to a pair of brothers who used to cruise the main drag. We all had early 80s G-bodies but those guys were the ones who got all the attention.
There’s 2 of these trucks that get daily driver in my town Dundalk Maryland .. both black !! They are getting rarer and rarer !
That thing cleaned up nice, your detail guy rocks. I've always been a square body guy, so those took a while to grow on me, but that is a good looking truck.

I’m not a big fan of the obs Chevys myself, but I love the square body Chevys. I’d rather have a lightning over the 454ss Chevy, but that’s my personal preference too. I like the lightning’s and the Dakota r/t’s a lot, but the price of stuff is getting ridiculous honestly. It’s a clean truck and sounds good, glad you kept the bbc in it instead of ls swapping it.

I own a 90 454ss I drove to high school back in 05 and later on down the road went threw motor did heads cam and all that and put a small blower on it it's a blast to drive
Is that a Sniper 2? I know a lot of haters talk shit on Snipers, but man are they a great option for old school carburetor engines. Especially if you data log and tweak the tune. Once you get the IAC set and it behaves, all that sucking sound goes away.
I was thinking it before Shawn said it, but I believe he’s right. The truck was stolen and the person was attempting to disguise it as a non 454ss which people were looking for. I grew up in my Grandpas shop/towing and recovery business which my uncle was a police officer for the city it was in and he had an office in the shop that he handled impounds,recovered stolen vehicles etc. I definitely seen similar situations.

I just learned not all the 454 trucks were black but that's only in 91, 92/93 were white and red also

I would love to see a NON procharger blower on this old rig! Also me nd my husband would love to have you guys build a car for my husband! In particular a 1961-1967 Ford Econoline 3 window econoline. We have a large budget and hubs wants to have a built to the hilt” ford straight 6 and he wants it bagged keeping the steelies and dog dish caps.
People talk about the 454 SS being slower than the Ford Lightning and the Dodge SRT-10. GM gave you the 454, the 4L80 transmission and the 14 bolt rear end. Between the three trucks the 454 SS costs the least but with a few mods the 454 SS could outrun the other two trucks and still have less dollars involved than the cost of either of the other two trucks.
Couple of those trucks here in Dundalk Maryland that have been on the road since they were new ! Daily drivers !

Now find a 90's lighting! Old Nascar motors are a dime a dozen. Put an old Ford 434" Nascar setup from the 90's w/a blower... That'd be sick! I'm from Joliet, South of Chicago, and a guy who owned a dyno shop downtown had 2 of the fastest Lightnings in the country, as he claimed back in early 2000, but one box, one round body, both looked bone stock, but made well over a thousand to the tire. 24yrs ago, if you did that, you were doin something! Hell, my 11sec. S10 was fast, faster with spray, had a lil 66 Nova, black on black, straight as an arrow, stock interior, flat hood, raised in the back to let hot air out, 15" 70's 5 spokes with tryin rings, dark gray, 8" slick, w/a 14:1 355, which wouldn't go 11's w/a 4spd..so, I put a TH350 in it, and the car picked up almost a second, it'd go 30's all day! Then I put a small 125 shot, 100 jet, and took another second off, going a best of 10.28...i should've NEVER sold that car! I know I've wrote like 4x now, and I apologize, but also appreciate your time guys! I'm just another guy into cars, but man I'm trying to get my mind off of the divorce b.s going on! One day she wants to go to marriage counseling, like that same night, and I said we should be going to individual counseling, especially being free thru her work! All I did was recommend going to counseling, work on ourselves and my biggest issue, holding onto the past, resentments, etc. Then go to marriage counseling! We already tried that and found she'd been talking to this guy she was dating the whole time we were in counseling prior! That's another issue, she puts me in jail after breaking her phone, catching her talking to another guy, which I take responsibility for, I was pissed off, being provoked, but i had also packed a pair of clothes and left too, but talking to another man during a time we're supposed to be saving our marriage, just is NOT right to me, and I feel like a fuckin idiot for falling back into it, after fuck boy#4! Sorry guys for my rant, all my messages, but i need help, aside from the counseling I'm doing! I need to get this car finished up, so I can pack my shit up, and hopefully find a place to live! I even, after 5yrs, tried to work a full time job at Nissan. But they want shit done like NOW, customers staring at you, but despite that, i guess i wasn't quick enough for their liking, although my work was thorough, for what I understood had to be done! I made it almost a month until i was let go... When you have a plate and 17 screws(picture a flat, titanium toothbrush screwed from your wrist, up your inner forearm bone on my LH, and broke the carpel bones as well as severed tendons and ligaments that all had to be pinned and wired back together! Just a guy that needs a little help at the moment. If y'all are coming down to Bradenton anytime soon, i would gladly pay for your time, put you up in my parents guest room next door, and the ladies could all go out, and we can get this car fired up! Shawn, what's the chances I'm running a dual 3", or single 4"through the k member for exhaust..? P/s seems to have a lot of room, but idk how tight it'll be with the a/c compressor in there either..? I don't think 4 will fit on the d/s, 3" wrapped was tight! Then the big turbo...man, I'm just hoping that i can use my cold side and don't have to redo it all over a turbo, except V bands, where i can! That's all i got though, I'm done whining like a bitch now... Hopefully, one of my messages, we'll talk, or Josh Wynn on fb...msg me on messenger. Thanks again, watching these videos gives me at least some motivation! Might go try to do my radiator today, or pull the bent housing QP sent me...but you know how they are, i was told 3 days I'll have a new, better upgraded housing at my door! Oh, i have to bend up some brake line and adapter fitting for the rear too, and pray my d/s fits!!lol Later guys, I hope y'all have a great day and never have to go through the shit i am right now! 93 best year to have, only year with 4l80 transmission, which meant 4.10 instead of 3.73 like the other two years. Red is the harder color to find.
