My favorite album of theirs. Cant imagine why it would get negative reviews. I think it's because the critics thought they had the killers "figured out" meaning they prob expect Mr Brightside part 2 on the album or something. Like they expected that same formula, but killers came out and rocked it instead with an edgier rocky album. I love their albums, all of them.
Critics disliked it because there was so much hype and anticipation behind the Killers after their first album, they would have hated any album that wasn't exactly the same. It's similar to Nirvana's "In Utero", critics hated that it wasn't Nevermind, but it turned out to be great. Same things happening with MGMT and "Congratulations".
Yeah, everybody thought they new the band after just one album and they didnt realise that this album was going to be different. I love them all but Sam's town is probably my favourite!
I have tons of respect for brandon. A rockstar that lives his religion is a breath of fresh air in our world today. I am also a "mormon" and its the best thing about my life. God bless you, brandon. Keep writing killer music.
I adore his honesty. Brandon Flowers is pure class. I love him so much! Be Still is my favorite song. I have "Be Still" tattooed on my wrist. It is a love song to my children (written by an amazing man!)
I can never understand this dude's transformation. He went from looking like a kinda chubby emo decent looking dude to looking actor status. Like... he's got crazy charms. His head shape like changed. His hair... it's like he's 24/7 in a hair commercial.
I wouldn't say chubby but anyone who works out and eats will get what is called gym face and thin out if they don't bulk. We don't choose where we lose weight when we work out. He looks good in any era imo though but yeah he is aging like fine wine honey. 😍🔥
Rosie Baker Mine too! I was listing all my favorite killers songs a while ago and it realized I listed every song from Sam's town (along w others songs oc) lol
In response to the religious conversation in the comments section of this article, I'll add my two cents, but take a more diplomatic approach. I'm a practicing Mormon, and liked the Killers before I knew Brandon was a member. I'm glad he can be a face for the church in the mainstream music culture because I believe he's a good person, but hope we as Mormons don't expect him to be perfect. He has said the positive influence he tries to be comes from the teachings he received in his Mormon upbringing in Utah, however, hopefully we don't hold him to a higher standard than we hold ourselves. He's not perfect, and neither are we as Mormons. We just fight the impossible battle to one day become that way because that's what Jesus asked us to be in the Bible. We all fall. Unfortunately, like Mitt Romney, Steve Young, and other famous Mormons, Brandon's failures will be publicized while ours most likely won't. Let's just be grateful that there are good people like him out there, no matter their faith, who try to be positive influences in the world by creating musical masterpieces the way he and The Killers do. I don't care where people worship, just that they are trying to make the world a better place. Brandon is doing that, and just so happens to worship at an LDS building on Sunday.
I appreciate your perspective. I do want to point out tho that Jesus never asked us to be perfect. He was perfect so we don't have to be. That's what the Bible says.
A stylist really transformed Brandon. His hair got thicker/better and he went from good looking guy to model looking. He has been my favorite artist for the past 7 years. The music he produces with the Killers or solo have been fantastic for the most part.
this is now many many years later. They are a pretty big band. Growing up U2 was like my best band ever. Now The Killers are definitely better! Lots of people say Brandon is shy. I don't think he is shy He has too much confidence for that I think he is just awkward. Like he said it is his social skills maybe. but being the way he is, is endearing. I am Afrikaans so it weird Number one best band till the day I die for me will be the Killers and then just just second Deon Meiring LOL But I adore Brandon Flowers. His voice is like on the same frequency as my soul, I think. And the fact that he has respect for hotel staff, is good to his wife and kids, and tries to live up to his beliefs makes him so authentically human. Much love and respect for him. Ronnie is great too so enthusiastic and a brilliant drummer.
I love that the Killers can put out Hot Fuss and then follow up with Sam's Town- it's called growing as a musician and not being pigeon-holed in a corner making the same kind of music. He could've easily done another Mr. Brightside, but instead we got the masterpiece called, When You Were Young, one of the best rock songs of the 2000s.
i love being a Mormon... i recommend showing up to a sunday meeting to see why. You'll feel an indescribable feeling of love from God that can't be matched anywhere else
Sam's Town is my fav album ever..I like the fact that they put all the criticism behind and keep putting on an amazing live performance just to show the world how big the album really is..now sam's town is already one of the best album of the decade and The Killers is one of the biggest band in the world....finally shut the critics up!
This is the first TH-cam comment I have EVER read on TH-cam that was right about Mormons, we are just like everyone else, we just have a few more restrictions because of our religion. You would not believe what some people have said to me on TH-cam because I am Mormon.
Which is a more credible source: those who write and perform music or those who comment on it? Sam's Town is a great album and was bashed by the music industry mostly to punish Brandon Flowers for his braggadocious comments. To his credit, he used their comments to make The Killers into the world's best live rock band (and that's not being braggadocious because I'm not a member of The Killers). You can clearly see that difference between 2006 and 2008.
Good interview. There are so many interviews out there where Brandon has to constantly answer the same boring questions. This interview touched on a lot of things he's not had the chance to talk about.
sams town is definitely my favorite killers album.. after completely trashing sams town when it came out..rolling stone voted it most underrated album of the decade!
omg! brandon is really adorable and i like his music so much! i really wish him and his band to create more music in the future cause i just cannot stop listening to his songs! every night when i go to bed i always listen some of his songs on my mp3 and i feel so peaceful and relaxed! many kisses from Greece brandon we love ya! sorry if my english is not so good!
Brandon always makes them ost amazing songs. Each one is so individualized and intense in some way, and that's what makes the Killers so phenominal and original. He takes risks. And if the critics these days are so unprofessional as to biasedly (if that even a word) dismiss his work without recognizing both the good and bad, they don't even deserve to be critics, and I'm GLAD that Brandon didn't listen to them and kept on taking those risks.
The interviewer seems sort of mocking, I don't like him. Plus critics are people that judge but have never done. Sad people. Brandon Flowers you are one of the greatest creations ever.
anthonyfranco88 I met him a year ago , yes, he's so good looking you just want to melt. I couldn't believe I was standing right next to him. Don't even remember what I said :) 💙💚💛🙃
@a8thgradecupcake THANK YOU! and for what it is Day&age is as well. IF it was made by some other band and was their first album. People would think it is find.
Samstown was not that great, except for read my mind, and when you where young. But there first album was great from track one to the last. Still one of my fav albums to listen too not matter what.
he is awesome. i HATE it when people dont like an artist because they're "too mainstream" or whatever. you should just base your opinion on whether you enjoy listening to the music or not. and whether thats britney spears or the killers or some tiny little indie band, it doesnt matter
how could they trash sam's town? it has some of the best songs the killers have done (when you were young, read my mind, sams town, for reasons unknown, etc.). every single album theyve made contains pure genious! each with a diferent spin in it!
i don't care what the "critics" say, Sam's Town is an AWESOME album, definitely one of my all time favorites
I completely agree. probably my favorite of all time
My favorite album of theirs. Cant imagine why it would get negative reviews. I think it's because the critics thought they had the killers "figured out" meaning they prob expect Mr Brightside part 2 on the album or something. Like they expected that same formula, but killers came out and rocked it instead with an edgier rocky album. I love their albums, all of them.
mcn625 me too, i love every album, they are very individual and unique, and i love his solo album too.
Its becoming a well known cult classic among many who get it lol
its funny how the critics hated sams town. but ask any killers fan and they'll tell you its their favourite.
Hot Fuss, but Sam's Town is a close second.
So true! Sam's Town will always be my favourite album!
I love them all but Sam's town is probably my favourite!
not true, not alllll killers fans will prefer sams town the best. My personal favourite is day and age
Mary Bukovskis oh, its one of my favorite songs! So touching, so sad, but at the same time there is a Light
He's so adorable, every interview I see with him he always seems so nervous. His wife sure landed a great catch
He looks like he just awoke from a deep sleep and yet he still looks godly!!! His level of gorgeousness is unreal!
I agree he’s hot
The critics are wrong. Sam's Town is not only my favorite Killers album, but one of my favorite albums of all time by any band. I love it.
I can never understand this dude's transformation. He went from looking like a kinda chubby emo decent looking dude to looking actor status. Like... he's got crazy charms. His head shape like changed. His hair... it's like he's 24/7 in a hair commercial.

🤣😂🤣
he was never chubby wtf
Kylee Webb - depending on your definition of chubby. Plus I said kinda chubby. Come on now.
Heard so many bad things about sam's town, but it is my very favourite album of theirs and I love EVERY single song
Rosie Baker Mine too! I was listing all my favorite killers songs a while ago and it realized I listed every song from Sam's town (along w others songs oc) lol
For reasons unknown
He's beautiful and slightly awkward and honest and I love him. He could believe in a flying spaghetti monster and I'd still swoon.
he's the cutest most honest man ever
Brandon Flowers seems like a class act. People need to stop arguing on about his religion and just accept the fact that he is a nice guy!
In response to the religious conversation in the comments section of this article, I'll add my two cents, but take a more diplomatic approach. Well said
I appreciate your perspective. I do want to point out tho that Jesus never asked us to be perfect. He was perfect so we don't have to be. That's what the Bible says.
Matthew 5:48
He seems like such a good humble guy wow I love his songs. Sam's Town is the best album!
Brandon Flowers is beautiful in every way
A stylist really transformed Brandon. His hair got thicker/better and he went from good looking guy to model looking. He has been my favorite artist for the past 7 years. The music he produces with the Killers or solo have been fantastic for the most part.
Brandon Flowers is the most gorgeous creature I have ever laid my eyes upon. That is all.
this is now many many years later. They are a pretty big band. Growing up U2 was like my best band ever. Now The Killers are definitely better! Lots of people say Brandon is shy. Ignore the critics, it's your fans who buy the album. Love you Brandon😘
Sams Town was by far the best album they ever did.... Every song WAS SO SOLID!!!!
Brandon Flowers is AMAZING. Truly one of the greatest talents in ages if not the greatest.
Sam's Town is a masterpiece. End of story.
Sam's Town is right there with Hot Fuss. Great album.
He has the cutest laugh in the world.
i love being a Mormon... i recommend showing up to a sunday meeting to see why. You'll feel an indescribable feeling of love from God that can't be matched anywhere else
UGH, HIS FACE, HIS SMILE, HIS LAUGH, HIS TOUSLED HAIR...I JUST CAN'T...
man crush x 1000
I've always thought that Sam's Town is their best album to date. How can people not like it?!! :-)
Brandon made the mistake of hyping it up too much, giving critics a legitimate reason to trash it.
That album saved my life. I was in a really bad place and their music helped to heal me
Brandon always looks nervous in interviews, its adorable
Brandom Flowers is simply perfect. Always.
He's so stunning and beautiful, love his music.
Bran is so nervous again. And sometimes he looks genuinely scared of the interviewer. But great talk nevertheless :)
And I love Brandon's bedhair.
i love this interview. he is so tan...and as gorgeous as ever with his tousled hair
Sam's Town is my fav album ever..I like the fact that they put all the criticism behind and keep putting on an amazing live performance just to show the world how big the album really is..now sam's town is already one of the best album of the decade and The Killers is one of the biggest band in the world....finally shut the critics up!
Wonderful interview.
imagine not liking sam's town...??

sometimes words can't explain how lovely Brandon Flowers is...Tana is LUCKY. haha his leg is shaking...cute. I do that too.

...the BEST Killers album, in my opinion!!
i love him, his light radiates from within.
Also, I wasn't aware that the critics "trashed" Sam's Town at all?
Good interview. There are so many interviews out there where Brandon has to constantly answer the same boring questions. This interview touched on a lot of things he's not had the chance to talk about.
sams town is definitely my favorite killers album..
after completely trashing sams town when it came out..rolling stone voted it most underrated album of the decade!
sam's town is a delight...!!! some critics are just pricks...!!!
This is his best look honestly 😍
omg! brandon is really adorable and i like his music so much! i really wish him and his band to create more music in the future cause i just cannot stop listening to his songs! every night when i go to bed i always listen some of his songs on my mp3 and i feel so peaceful and relaxed! many kisses from Greece brandon we love ya! sorry if my english is not so good!

Man, he just spits the truth. respect. AND he's beautiful. It's a win-win.
Sam's Town is an amazing album anybody who disagrees is crazy
Oh Brandon, I love you so much, you glamorous indie rock star, you. :)
Sams Town is one of the best albums I've ever heard. They're my favorite band.
I love you Brandon!!!!
The interviewer seems sort of mocking, I don't like him. Plus critics are people that judge but have never done. Sad people. Brandon Flowers you are one of the greatest creations ever.
@mystoermerwithme i thinks its their best album, and probably one of the most under-rated of the last twenty years!
What he said!! That's why I FREAKING LOVE The Killers!!!!
This dude is actually wiser than any first impression would have you believe.
this man and the whole band are the best
I can't get over how different Brandon looks now compared to the 'Somebody Told Me' video. Both are lovely, tho.
3:24 his leg!! well that was cute.
My favorite songs are, Mr.Brightside, and Somebody told me
love the messy hair!
Never understood why critics knocked the second record. Great album.
5:23 "I don't know if I have the social skills.."
AWWWW!!!!! :D Omg he's too cute
Keep shooting for the stars Brandon!!!
At first I thought he said, "it's poodle." when he said, "it's brutal."
He's soooo good looking... it's almost scary.
If I saw him in person I wouldn't be able to look - I'd just look down and start crying.
anthonyfranco88 I met him a year ago , yes, he's so good looking you just want to melt. I couldn't believe I was standing right next to him. Don't even remember what I said :) 💙💚💛🙃
Sam’s town is my favorite album of all time
@a8thgradecupcake THANK YOU! and for what it is Day&age is as well. IF it was made by some other band and was their first album. People would think it is find.
I love U2 and this may be unpopular but... the Killers are so much better and always have been. (Early U2 was pretty damn epic though)
the thing is that sams town got me into the killers. and i stand that sams town is the best album ever.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE... BRANDON FLOWERS... such a sexy man ha
Sams town is the best album ever!
sams town is the most amazing thing ever. It's fantastic.

Samstown was not that great, except for read my mind, and when you where young. But there first album was great from track one to the last. Still one of my fav albums to listen too not matter what.
Hot Fuss was a great debut
what's the song in the beginning called?
Somebody Told Me
The song after it is Crossfire
perfectttttt
he is awesome. i HATE it when people dont like an artist because they're "too mainstream" or whatever. you should just base your opinion on whether you enjoy listening to the music or not. and whether thats britney spears or the killers or some tiny little indie band, it doesnt matter
@twilightislove16 couldn't agree more!!! This gorgeous man is 100% pure perfection!!!
wonderful Brandon..
I love him. he's amazing.
my bed. now.
Sam's Town is my favorite album of ALL time!!!!!!!!!!!!! Critics are stupid.
@wankerpanther Bro... He's an absolutely amazing person, successful, and more importantly HE'S HAPPY... Isn't that what matters in life?
When he smiles he reminds me of Matt Damon.
Tebay I agree. I am definitely more of a sucker for Hot Fuss though
I love his life stile!
Killers rock so hard
@barranquillababe this is at his house?!
Critics trashed the second Album? WFT do they know!
how could they trash sam's town? it has some of the best songs the killers have done (when you were young, read my mind, sams town, for reasons unknown, etc.). every single album theyve made contains pure genious! each with a diferent spin in it!
They could have bad reviews on every song, and they would still be amazing!
I love Sam's Town too, Brandon!!!
I love Sam's town so I don't understand the critics
What exactly has he said.
I fucking love Sam's Town, how
