In this video we will determine the values of 10Dq and B for a Ni(II) complex in Oh symmetry from its electronic absorption spectrum and the d8 Tanabe Sugano Diagram. Also, the concept of the nephelauxetic effect and the physical meaning of the Racha B parameter will be introduced.
