This was a brand new boat .... and we checked it 3x just to make sure of our findings! It all checked good! Did you see General Patton's Sailboat in the video its an old boat. It was built in 1939. 😆

Great work. Refreshing to see a real pro at work. That job was certainly worth paying for. Hopefully he got at least $500

So interesting, so much to learn if you want to take the leap from a weekend warrior to a full timer

Great vid! Was the sailboat ever confirmed to be the issue?

Yes it was confirmed a few weeks later.

Do they allow you into all the Marinas? Up here in the North East if you want your boat worked on at the marina you gotta use the marina's mechanic. Like they dont get enough money from us already at $125 a foot

    • @WillFixThat
      @WillFixThat  ปีที่แล้ว

Yes we are allowed at all the marinas …. Most are do it yourself!! We just travel mobile to them.

Nice one. You can thank the sail boat owner for the easy money, then offer him your services too 😀

Ok so the silver silver choride referrence anode showed that the bonding system was ok .... but what about the stray current ?? not sure the problem was fixed ?? also I think the cap on the reference anode needs to be removed to get an accurate reading ... note: your zincs provide no protection against stray current.

It turned out the be stray current leaking from the boat next to it.

Guy in this video is very knowledgeable and I like watching real professionals share their trade skills and teach viewers how to fix things on their own. I wish TH-cam had an option to view only actual professionals. I'm tired of wasting my time watching useless amateur videos.

Appreciate the feedback! To watch only professional only subscribe to those channels and TH-cam creates a list for you … hope that helps.

Okay, since foaming will be a D C issue and be caused as you note by stray DC current. Electrolysis is a deliberately induced process for electroplating or hair removal etc. Stray current corrosion is better known as electrolytic corrosion. Your testing was simple but effective. This was a new boat. Older boats very quickly suffer from breakdown of the bonding system as nobody - nobody maintains them. They are simply ignored until they are found to be failing by other problems surfacing. They are easy to test but nobody does so. This should be the primary lesson. If people are not going to do this they are better off removing them. But then I don't have to take note of the. ABYC😂.
AC in the marina is a real threat but does not cause electrocution. It can cause ESD or electric shock drowning where the muscles are effected and you can no longer survive in the water either through paralysis or being unable to breathe. Either way you drown, you are not electrocuted.

You are very correct about NO one maintaining bonding systems. Don’t know why🤷‍♂️

I use to put a large zinc at the slip on one of piling I would get. The large zincs from the gas company they used for large valves :so they didn’t go bad

Great idea .... but not always easy when a boat is here for only a few days! Thanks for watching.

I have heard of folks putting a 5-6 pound zinc overboard connected to their battery. Sounds wild. I put zinc everywhere I could cram it in.

Let us know what the numbers look like after they move the sailboat.

No cords were not HOT ... we were talking with the Owner! Thanks for watching Captain!

I own a beautiful Hatteras Sport Fish with double power cables and I continually open the covers on the pesticides and quickly feel each female connectors for heat. It’s a policy all boaters should practice.

When we first go to a boat that is having electrical issues we check the plugs & cords first thing! 👍
