You can do it without lowering the subframe, you need to remove the lower gearbox mount and ratchet strap the engine forward a few inches. Then feed the rack both sides behind the anti roll bar. It makes the job a little easier
You guys are seeing 8min video but job itself took around 5 hours, changed out lower ball joints+ stabilisator rods+ that motor mount aswell what i removed, because i discovered it were cracked badly, same with lower balljoints both sides were shot. About alingment try get wheels straight first before starting to center steeringwheel + clockspring best to do at alingment stand at proper workshop but since i did this job at weekend there were none opened at that time had to mess around with it to get it somewhat straight, for now car has been thru proper alingment and everything is okay.
Yes, the old one was straight, but the new piece is a little different from the old one. If you watch the video, you will see that all the bolt holes and hydraulic connections fit, but the part of the steering column is a little different. Also since column connection is one way, some cars you can put it back together however you wish, then it will go off anyway, i do not know what happens if you happen to have oem factory rack, maybe this wont be case then. Before touching steering wheel make sure you turn the steering wheel all the way to the right or left, then count the number of turns it takes to go all the way in the other direction. Turn the wheel back half way to center. This is the center of the rack. If the steering wheel is not centered, remove it and reinstall to center. Double check by turning the rack to full stop then back to center again. Once the steering wheel is centered, reconnect the tie rods and perform a wheel alignment to center the steering wheel at the correct toe settings. New unit should be centered from factory but it may be gone slightly off while transporting + replacing procedure were carried out. Also make sure you recenter clock spring aswell otherwise you will damage it and as i stated on video there are actually written onto it how to center it.

tryed it actually, still had missing extra 2cm , that rack what were on there were slightly different, the "new" one probably would go thru.

Why did you take steering wheel off was it not all straight before you took rack off I’m doing one next weekend

You forgot to say how much oil was needed to refil it
you are right, i had 2 liters bought but almost one 1l bottle went in.
So if i buy 2L i wont need anymore ?
