Testing a Conn Steelay mouthpiece on a Conn 10M '36 The tip opening is original and quite small: 0.69 but characteristic of the era. Reed: Vandoren blue box #3
@@armandobambino Congrats on your new old mouthpiece. It will be great fun to play. But it could take some time to adapt to it. I'm very curious how you like it.
Both the Conn New Wonder and the later 10M models are larger bore horns. Combined with a large chamber mouthpiece like a Steelay or an earlier Eagle they need some ;more air to fill indeed to get that full tone you want. But then again you won't need iron lungs to get there. In fact they are quite easy to play. The low notes need some control.
Holy smokes this needs more attention! Really well played.
Thank you very much for listening and your nice comment.

Wow! What a sound. Dreamy. What is your mp and reed?
Thank you! It is an old Conn Standard Steelay 3 and a Vandoren blue box #3.
How does the horn respond? I know a lot of the older models take a lot of air to get the sound you want
