  • When you need to adjust a taper on a part sine bars can be useful tools. But what do you do if you don't have a sine bar, or your compound won't work with one? This video outlines all the math you need to know to be able to figure it out yourself!

Very informative video. I enjoyed your presentation on 'Bar signs'...
My favorite bar sign: "Liquor up front, Poker in the rear".

thank you! the whole reason sweeping with an indicator didn't work for me but the sine bar did, and why I asked the question, is because of exactly what you pointed out, taper per foot was not hypotenuse! it makes sense now! Back to just using an indicator on the part. I was making ISO30 tapers, and the contact was consistently off by .0015 over about 2 inches, but that's where it comes out!

    I was taught years ago that. Some = old/hags. Can't = always/ hide. Their= old/age.

What are your thoughts on the US switching to Metric ??? 🧐

It will mostly happen, but I am not a fan. An interesting point are the "metric" pipe threads, used in Europe & Asia, they are actually British pipe threads, with a Metric designation & a inch pitch, but labeled by the metric equivalent spacing (not whole numbers). I like metric in the Chemistry lab, but the unit of length (that it all is based on) was too arbitrarily chosen. The world will long be cursed with the mix of systems. What is a 16 penny nail in metric??
