You can buy the sheet music for a 3 pounds from Edition Records. It's a 15/8 then 7/8, then 15/8 and finally 10/4. Go support them and buy it. it is paid to them directly. It has no Chords. Jasper told me that het let's Ivo select the chords while playing.
It's a "Reflexion Filter", basically a curved foam pad around the mic which sucks out the room's acoustic. It makes the bass sound as tight as possible in an open room. Usually used on vocals in a studio, but put to good use here.
I was at a Mark Guiliana Quartet concert two nights ago so it is great to come across this upload of the fabulous Phronesis with Mark in the drum chair. Am I alone in thinking that Guiliana is possibly one of the most innovative drummers to emerge since Tony Williams?
I was lucky to see the Mark Guiliana Quartet at the Oloron Jazz festival in France a few weeks ago. Guiliana is an astonishing drummer -one gets the same hairs on end feeling as when Tony Williams first came on the scene. I really like this trio -there is definitely something happening everytime they play-jazz is in a really good place right now!
A terrific trio-I only got to hear them comparatively recently so I'm still catching up with all their albums; It is a great era for piano/bass/drums trios.
WOW ...!!! I'm deeply impressed of that powerful and smart performance, the marvelous sounds ....!!! Keep on jumpin' ! Love & peace on earth ...!!! With the best regards and wishes from my heart: thanks a lot ... for your musical art-work.
This is the sequence after those 2 quavers. In brackets is note length (quavers) A capital means the note is above the previous, small below. E(3) E(2) f(2) F(1) g(1) d(1) c(2) D(3) C(1) D(1) d(2) D(2) eflat(2) D(1) g(1) thud(1) A(1) B(1) D(1) E(1). 30 “quavers”, hope that helps. I favour 4,2,4,5. That gives you a four bar riff and the first and 4th bar have almost identical rhythms. Lot’s of syncopated notes make it difficult to pin down. I like puzzles.
at 2:40 so far aside from the odd meters it's all inside . at 4:20 it starts to go out a bit but not overly so: very interesting and heartfelt yeah I guess I am a fan .
if you count in quarter notes, it's a 4/4, but they use weird subdivisions (or however you want to put it, I don't the right name for it. syncopation maybe). anyways, go ahead, count.
This is one of the best new bands that play jazz, today young jazz bands are sh****** but this one is really GREAT!!!Just go on guys that's the music people need today!!!! Congratulation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its something new but still good!! : D
You know .................instead of trying to debate who is the best muso etc etc [Its totally subjective and cannot be established actually].................just LISTEN and LEARN and ENJOY .........20, 30 40 years from now you're in a 6 foot hole anyway ! I like the what they are trying to do .............a big change from another recording of 'Smoooooth Jazz '
Everything is present here: ostinates, freeform, high energy, poetry, high level of communikation. Thanks so much.😂
Greetings per trolle
this has been the best thing I've heard for three years now.

There are no words that can adequately praise that musical achievement. Bravo and good luck.

Not an upright bass player....but I'd be willing to bet that this is not an easy piece to play. And of course Mark is absolutely shredding it
