This is my favorite song by Connie Francis of all time, and LeAnn did a nice job. My only "nitpicks" were that Connie never gesticulated like this, relying only on the power and passion of her voice to do the moving and talking for her. There will never be another.
LeAnn sings that grate as always. Wish She would come to. New Hampshire and sing before I die !!! 73 - 74 in March. Love all her Songs she Sings. Grate Voice. Love that Lady. ❤😢
Lee Ann never ceases to amaze me. I grew up listening to all the stars of the 50s and 60s and 70s. She does a great job on this Connie Frances song. Loved it!! 5 *****s!!
There comes along only once in a lifetime a person that can bring life to music in the way LeAnn does with this song. I'm sure Connie Francis likes how LeAnn performed, of course we cannot forget the band that backs her, very clear, hearing each instrument and so much like the 50's and 60's that it could be confused with the original recording back in 1961. I guess I'm talking much because my parents gave us kids plenty of music to hear as children and our right to pick what we liked. But then LeAnn wasn't born yet, not until 21 years after this song hit the charts!
These primary networks screwed in a big way ever since reality shows proved to be a cheaper way of grabbing money...and TONS of commercials for scrap shows. I now stream everything.
This song was written by Neil Sedaka and Howard Greenfield in New York City, Connie recorded it for the movie by the same name in 1961. It never gets old. Greg, Phx.
High School ----------what a time it is for everyone. For me, at Denver South High, Class of '64, it was not a fun time -----not at all. it was filled with crushes on girls who kept " liking me for a friend " -------a fate worse than death, at the time, & endless mystery about girls, & how on earth to escape being a dreaded " friend " . I worked every day after school, so that prevented me from several post-school activities, but mainly, it was my own lack of confidence that kept me from doing more, & I have to admit that. Yet--------with all of it's disappointments & frustrations, I look back at my 3 years, with deep fondness. I wouldn't trade it for anything--------well, most anything ! You see, there was this girl ---------------------------MJL,
This chokes me up, every time I see it. LeeAnn, you're a drop-dead knockout ! --------This song is just irresistible, from the summer of '61. ------------------------WolfSky9, 73 y/o
LeAnn sure was able to capture Connie Francis perfectly! 😊. Loved how the show put Connie and Bobby together! Connie loved Bobby desperately! In her book she goes into detail how her dad stopped them and he went on to marry Sandra Dee. When he divorced Sandra she went to see him and found him with some actresses….he looked at her and said bad timing. She never got over him! She said she should have went against her dad…
But she doesn't have the voice and breath control Connie had in 1960. I agree, Leeann is near perfect to play Connie, but not quite the same. Connie put her Italian heart into it!
LeAnn should seek permission from Connie Francis to revive this simply wonderful love ballad, she does a totally awesome job with this love song. Of course LeAnn is already a star when it comes to vocals. I was privileged to see her live at the veterans coliseum here in Phoenix, Arizona in 2001.
Lee Ann's performance here, reminds me of Jeanette Jurado, doing " Angel Baby " --------as good, in some ways even better, than the original, if that's possible, & here, it is. ----------What a perfect voice.
Your welcomed my pleasure to say something nice instead of bad. I don't like saying negative things on the You Tube videos if I can help it. Know it? Christine Klinger
I hate how they interrupt her performance as the Queen 👑 Connie Francis when no one gives a deal about anything other than this song and performance. Do the acting after it or before it! That goes for all shows. :) I knew she had brains and great taste. No wonder Leanne just won the Masked singer. 👍
Ahhhh, the days of The Brill Building , in NYC ! ---------Jerry Goffin & Carole King / Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil / Jeff Barry & Ellie Greenwich , & the team who wrote this masterpiece for MGM, Howard Greenfield & Neil Sedaka , summer of '61. ------------------------------WolfSky9, 73 y/o
This beautiful song was the 1960 era love anthem for heterosexual girls and gay boys everywhere! Only Connie Francis (and possibly Neil Sedaka, a gay / bisexual man himself, who wrote it) can sing it with all the power and emotion that it commands. What a great song from a wonderful bygone era!
I am not sure if I am alone, but LeAnn Rimes really needs to ask permission from Connie Francis to record this song as she sings it here with the 50's sound. LeAnn owns the song as though she wrote it. Howard Greenfield and Neil Sedaka wrote this song for Connie and the movie she would star in of the same title; Where The Boys Are. The song is timeless!!!
You know something? The TV series "American Dreams" was all about the 1960s, took place in Philadelphia, and ran for three seasons on NBC-TV (2002-05). If a reboot of some sort happened now, it would take place in 1982. It was Philadelphia's 300th birthday that year and the main characters, the Pryor Family and all of their friends would be celebrating!
The continuation of the series was attempted and would involve the characters in the events that would follow. Dick's presence, even outside of Philadelphia, would be maintained, considering his magnificent work. After all, the 'American Dreams' series carried the Dick Clark Productions label.
Connie had a more lush voice, especially when she sang this song, which she loved so much. It was written just for her by her friend Neil Sedaka, who of course had his own great hits with many songs. Connie sings this like no one else, but LeeAnn gives it a good go. LeeAnn has her own voice to develop. Connie lived this song!
Since she has the vocal range and decent Connie look-a-like, she has my vote to play Connie in the Connie Bi-Pic, but lose a bit of that country "twang".
It’s funny you say that. I love her rendition but her country twang really is very noticeable indeed. Surprisingly I was even more distracted by all the stray blonde hairs on the back of her neck peeking out from her wig during those close up shots. Still it’s fantastic cover and impersonation of an American treasure. A+!
LeAnn has a nice voice but she can not compare to Connie's voice and range. Nothing against LeAnn 's it's just hard for anyone to sing anywhere close to Francis talent.
Absolutely dreadful. This is supposed to be a recreation, and it is so far off. I love Leann, and this is a lovely cover, but misses the target so far off, it's not even funny
Travis Durand what made you say it was so far off? I know her country twang was strong but I thought she did a good job delivering the song throughout.
Only female singer that has the original tone and proximity voice of our legendary beloved Connie Francis ! Majestically performed! ❤
As a life long Connie Francis fan, this is the first time I've seen this and LeAnn was magnificent!
Leann Rimes needs to record a cd with 1950's songs, she is so very talented, and she could make each song sound like to original recording artist.
... and 60's too!
Rimes absolutely nails it here. It's a stunning recreation of Connie Francis. Not only did she look the part but the voice was amazing.
She's just got the voice of that era. LeAnn could sing the phone book and I'd buy it.
Brought tears to my eyes its so beautiful, masterful, I expect nothing less from the incredible LeAnn Rimes.
LeeAnn did it justice. She's got a beautiful voice.
She tore it up and it was great.
This is my favorite song by Connie Francis of all time, and LeAnn did a nice job. My only "nitpicks" were that Connie never gesticulated like this, relying only on the power and passion of her voice to do the moving and talking for her. There will never be another.
LeAnn Rimes was beautiful as Connie Francis! I miss American Dreams! I wish it wasn’t cancelled after 3 or 4 seasons.
LeAnn sings that grate as always. Wish She would come to. New Hampshire and sing before I die !!! 73 - 74 in March. Love all her Songs she Sings. Grate Voice. Love that Lady. ❤😢
How did I miss this? LeAnn has some serious pipes.
Absolutely, THE very best rendition of Connie's '61 Masterpiece.
This song IS Connie Francis and always will be. However Leann Rimes is spot on. Absolutely amazing. She can sing. A great voice indeed.
Well done, Lee Ann ! really well done.,----------MJL, 77 y/o
61 years ago------this song was released with the movie, & went to #1 all across America.-----Time has gone too fast. --------MJL< 75 y/o
She is one of the best singers in the world. She did a fabulous job as Connie Frances, another one of the best voices ever! 🥰
Such a beautiful voice thank you LeAnn
That sounds good😊
I cant believe how awesome Leann voice is!
I truly like LeAnn but Connie is still my number one!
She’s so good at being Connie Francis I got chills watching this. Amazing way to go LeeAnn Rimes
I loved that show, my wife and I watched it every week....
Beautifully done.
LEE ANN IS AMAZING ON THIS...
I am new to Country music ( Don't condemn me please ) but I seem to have seen a lot of LeAnn Rimes. I like her.
Lee Ann never ceases to amaze me. I grew up listening to all the stars of the 50s and 60s and 70s. She does a great job on this Connie Frances song. Loved it!! 5 *****s!!

One of my favorite songs and I was there when this scene was shot.
Wow best I have ever heard her look or sound.
OUTSTANDING performance!
I was extremely disappointed when NBC cancelled "American Dreams"; such a creative show that brought me back to a much simpler time.
I was disappointed too!
These primary networks screwed in a big way ever since reality shows proved to be a cheaper way of grabbing money...and TONS of commercials for scrap shows. I now stream everything.
Yes a much simpler time for a white male. Black in the 60s, not so much.
She really captured Connie Francis. Incredible!!!
Great! Looks like a lot of fun for LeeAnn
Antonia Greb LeeAnn had all the moves down too. Great job! (She was so skinny here.)
This song was written by Neil Sedaka and Howard Greenfield in New York City, Connie recorded it for the movie by the same name in 1961. It never gets old. Greg, Phx.
LeAnn is GREAT, she can handle anything a pro!!!!
Just a great talent! Beautiful voice!
I simply love this song - Connie but LeAnn is great also !
So love this woman! Pure old country soul.
LeAnn could sing the phone book and I'd listen. WOW!
Not only does she look " italian", but Lee Ann's voice sends chills over me, every time I hear her do this ! -----------MJL, 76 y/o
such a talented lady.
WOW WOW WOW!!
2017 and only seeing this now. That was a fantastic version. Wish there was a studio version for us.
GREAT PERFORMANCE.
LeAnn Rimes can renew life to any song, old or new.
One of the few female artists with the talent and ability to do Connie justice. And she sure did
I love the way she sings this song, brings back memories of great times!
Best I've seen or heard from LeAnn in a long time! Just beautiful
Great job, as runner up to the Queen of Rock N' Roll!
High School ----------what a time it is for everyone. LeeAnn ate this up.
This chokes me up, every time I see it. LeeAnn, you're a drop-dead knockout ! --------This song is just irresistible, from the summer of '61. ------------------------WolfSky9, 73 y/o
it is gratifying to read posts as well as yours because I feel rewarded for having published this presentation by Lee Ann Rimes.
leeAnn, I know Connie would be smiling, hearing you do this glorious rendition.---------------------WolfSky9, 73 y/o
love it
Didn't she do really well in this part, what a beautiful voice she has.
Well done! LeeAnn should be proud. ------------------------WolfSky9
well done LeAnn...Connie still the best though!
This is the best version I have heard after the great Connie Francis version which to many is a perfect recording.
I so agree ! Why Lee Ann Rimes didn't do an album of 50's & 60's hits, is such a great loss. ------------------------WolfSky9, 73 y/o
A great idea, no doubt, but I believe that it doesn't because of the high cost of copyright, I think.
The best version after the original by Connie Francis.
I agree. She's got the big voice required to do it justice.
But she doesn't have the voice and breath control Connie had in 1960. I agree, Leeann is near perfect to play Connie, but not quite the same. Connie put her Italian heart into it!
And Connie had on a tighter girdle and more petticoats too!
***************** You’ve got to be kidding she owned it.
Connie had more depth to the long notes, especially those two lush scooped or slurred noted in the middle of the song. Amazing notes.
There is absoultly no reason Connie Francis has not been inducted into the rock and hall of fame.
How many people are perfect, Not one as the holy bible says, No not me, not anyone. But Leann is one of the best singers. Greg, Phx.
Very good.
LeAnn should ask Connie for the permission to record this song just as it was in the movie in the studio!
We never got this series in the UK, I get snippets here on YT great show.
Robert Irish - You can buy season one DVD of “American Dreams” from Amazon uk. Seasons 2 & 3 can sometimes be found on the internet or ebay.
This is very sad. I believe that the first season is still available on DVD; the second and third are classified as rare.
Maravilhosa
She really looks like Connie Francis know it ya all? Great version of Connie's hit song thanks for sharing the video. Christine Klinger
Thank you, Christine, for your comment.
Your welcomed my pleasure to say something nice instead of bad. I don't like saying negative things on the You Tube videos if I can help it. Know it? Christine Klinger
I know it; I am grateful! Gilberto sgarbi
I'd Love to perform this song with Leann Rimes, however my lyrics change would be Where The Girls Are. Greg, Phx.
I hate how they interrupt her performance as the Queen 👑 Connie Francis when no one gives a deal about anything other than this song and performance. Do the acting after it or before it! That goes for all shows. :) I knew she had brains and great taste. No wonder Leanne just won the Masked singer. 👍
startling resemblance I always though. great voices

Congratulations, I enjoyed your historic rescue!
Leann sounds exactly like Connie Francis and that is a compliment.
She even looks like a nice NJ Italian girl !
Gorgeous -----------------Connie would be smiling.-----------------------------WolfSky9, 74 y/o
She even looks like a nice New Jersey Italian girl !
What a cover. She is Connie Francis.
Hadn’t it been recorded by others? If so she doesn’t need permission. Connie doesn’t own it anyway.
I'd love to see an official video of nothing but Leann singing this incredible song. But I know this clip if from a now canceled TV show.
Leigh Ann is good but NO-ONE can sing that song like Connie Francis.
A better voice. BUt i Love my Connie.
Easily as good as Connie's original version.

One note lower- than Connie's original version, makes a huge difference for Lee Ann.
LeeAnn, you ALMOST looked Italian! ---still, well done. -------------------------WolfSky9
She needed more hair, big, puffed-up hair.
They should show the person singing through the whole song instead of interrupting it constantly.
Gorgeous rendition----------girls really WERE prettier then-------------------------WolfSky9
These celebrity covers are a big part of why you can't stream this show anywhere; the residuals and royalties are so complicated.
There is NO Lee ann Rhymes here. This is Connie!!! Well Played Lee ann...
I had heard that the costume won some sort of award but not sure for what
an Emmy for the dress designer. A copy of Connie's Christian Dior tea length gown.
Well performed, but not close to Connie's unique voice!
Was it really LeAnn singing?
It supposed to be LeAnn, but honestly I can't say because it does sound like Connie!
LeAnn has a nice voice but she can not compare to Connie's voice and range. Nothing against LeAnn 's it's just hard for anyone to sing anywhere close to Francis talent.
She can sing but not even close to how Connie can sing. But not bad
That is NOT CONNIE.
She can't touch the real thing.
