Carers job in Uk is somewhat similar to the home nurse in India. You have to care for every aspect of a person's needs. This includes in some cases making their food eg toast, porridge , tea etc ( if they are unable to cook themselves ), feed them, personal care ( includes bathing them, sponge bath, changing their clothes, nappy change, taking them to toilet, help with brushing their teeth etc ). Some patients are bed ridden which means their nappy has to be changed in bed making sure they are thoroughly clean otherwise they could get nappy rash. Some patients who are able to go toilet themselves still needs help with cleaning afterwards. If they get sick they need to be cleaned up and washing dealt with. Bedding needs to be changed as well on a regular basis. . So basically it's doing everything for another person. Sorry it's a bit lengthy but thought it helps to give some details :)
