Wonderful. The blessing of this tutorial is beyond words. First day of school which makes me maudlin after 67 years of school being the beginning of work life and learning. Just got my table and unpacked the paint supplies I have been gathering since I found your channel. Shower and begin!!! Huge for me. Thank you so much for opening my life to this.
Diane, youve got to check out Peerless watercolors. They've been around since 1885 and are on paper like these. I'd venture to day that theirs are better! Certainly larger sheets and economical.
I absolutely love the colors of the paint! I don’t have anything quite that dark. This painting turned out beautifully! I love anytime I get to use the gold paint. I get carried away with with it.
Ooh those Viviva paints are so vibrant and rich! I am not buying more paint. I am not buying more paint. I am not buying more paint. I am not buying more paint. LOL
Lovely idea, that gold, started like a hot mess, but it turned out really very beautiful, that gave me currage to try myself, thx!!!!!! So thx so much 4 sharing! PS i was so curious what those background noices were 😂
That was absolutely vibrant, glowing and totally gorgeous! I love watching your painting coming to life from the coloured background as you chat to us. You give us fresh ideas and confidence to let go and enjoy our paints. Thank you x
Absolutely beautiful! I would love to see something similar in a Christmas or holiday theme. I know it's early, but I send out original cards and they take me a while. 😊 Thank you for sharing this.
Original cards, wow! Sound lovely -what a treat for the recipients. Fantasy me wishes I could do something like that, but then reality strikes. Perhaps with Diane's inspiration I can make it this year.
@@berolinastrassmann Berolina, you can do cards. Diane's youtube site has a lot of good ideas. I don't do other social media, but I imagine she has even more than I know. The best advice I can offer is don't overload yourself. Make a few for close friends or family members to start with. And keep them simple. Add a small ribbon or sequins for sparkle and you are ready to send. The recipients will love them!
This is just gorgeous Diane. I really. enjoy watching your process and seeing how it all comes together Really beautiful colours. Thanks for sharing. Take care! Ann ❤xx
At 28:31 - l loved your addition of "seeds, that look like an open fruit, like a fig" ... it was a beautiful addition! And it really hit me just how stuck my thinking can be, only thinking of leaves, buds, berries. That's how you inspire us! Thank you.
Autumn leaves sound really good, especially here in the USA, dealing with 112-120 degrees heat index. Thanks Diane , keep it coming 😊 Don’t forget the Blackberries….
I am amazed at how beautiful this turned out. I would have thought it a terrible mess after the first few minutes. Thank you for showing us how to keep going and seeing how things work.
Yes!!! I'm so loving the fall theme!!! The paints are beautiful and rich, vibrant colors. I finally bought gold ink because my metallic watercolor paint wasn't as good as Coliro!!! I also tried metallic gouache! Thank you! Blessings from a California Gramma ❤
The Viviva colors are absolutely gorgeous. So fun to see this dry into a wonderful background and then to add all the leaves and the gold! I think these golds are much stronger than the Kuretake Starry Colors...but will give it a try. My Christmas list is getting very long...I doubt if I can wait! Thank you for teaching us to turn off our brains and let the brush take over! Watercolor is not about brain control!
This is lovely. The combination of colors is really an autumnal mosaic! Ah! Turn the brain off. For me that is the key. This aspiring watercolorist doth complain too much. I overthink things and end up with a mess because my brain is much to intrusive. Give us tips to turn the brain off. Beautiful work as usual. Thanks, Diane.
Thank you Diane. I would buy this little packet of colors just to have that luscious color, you said reminded you of chestnuts. Wow! What an amazing color! Thanks for keeping company during a trying, difficult time. Much love and aloha to you💚🌈🌺🙋♀️
You are on a roll! Because of you, I realize that yellow is now my favorite color. Of course our sun! Have you noticed we cannot get the best advantage from the video about the metalics?
Those terms, as mentioned below "slap happy" and "find" the trees, I needed to hear that in order for me to move to a more loose watercolor style which was very helpful over the past few years. 🥰
I love the beautiful autumnal colors! This makes me look forward to the day when our temperatures feel a lot cooler and autumn is in the air! Thanks Diane!
Such deep rich colors! I loved the one with the pine trees too, looks like the mountains around here in autumn. I looked up Norman Garbo, he died in 2017 age 98. He was a novelist as well, and those books seem pretty available, but not the art book. Which may be a good thing for me since I sometimes struggle with reading more than actually doing.
I found this one for sale on Abe Books.www.abebooks.com/servlet/BookDetailsPL?bi=11828386802&cm_sp=snippet-_-srp1-_-tile3&searchurl=ds%3D10%26sortby%3D17%26tn%3DPull%2Bup%2Ban%2Beasel%26an%3DNorman%2Bgarbo
What a fun exploration. Love the vibrant colors and the way they bled into each other. The texture is so interesting. Your work with the brush pen took the piece to a whole new dimension. Wonderful And,, as always, how can you possibly go wrong adding gold! Thank you again.
Gorgeous colours and lovely abstract piece. I’m loving this channel. ‘Fire’ was performed by ‘The Crazy World of Arthur Brown’ I about 1967/68 I think.
I have to tell you that the Kuetaki Japanese watercolours are beautiful. Not only that but I have given them to my 34 year old son who throughly enjoyed them on a recent visit. You Diane have inspired both of us. Thank you.
Just love this, Diane! The colors are beautiful, and the gold really makes it sing! I’m going to invest in some better metallic paint, as the one I have doesn’t produce those kind of results. Can’t wait to get to it!
Hi, Diane, The last time I looked for your channel, you were going through your favorite books, I picked the "Watercolor Workbook" by Sarah Simon. I'm loving it. Thank you!
This is a beautiful painting. Yesterday here in the South West UK it was beautiful sun for the first time in a long while. I'm watching this the day after, it's raining and cloudy, perfect for a video with bright warm colours. I bought some watercolour brush pens a few months ago. Not yet had a chance to have a go with them. This is good inspiration for me to have a go. Oh and gold to boot. Love it 😊💛
Those paints are so vibrant! Loved seeing the different shapes you added to the original and the copied backgrounds. Enjoyed this very much! Thanks Diane! I’m looking forward to autumn coming to my part of the world ~ southeastern Virginia. Have a wonderful day!
Bold rich colors and then the leaf motif that is transformed with your sure touch of golds and shadow...loved seeing your unwavering pursuit of more and more. Plan to watch this tutorial over and over. I love Autumn!
Much as we love autumn colours may i make a comment .. here near scots border its very green due to lashings of rain in july and some drier days august but the heather on the hills is absolutely lovely. Swallows are still chirruping and i’m hanging on to our ‘summer’ as long as poss. Farmers have gone quiet and hay bales like golden drums are in the fields its a special time cool air nice light ☺️
Sounds lovely Wendy. We never have much autumn colour here in Brittany, where I live up on the moors the oaks hold on to their leaves and their greenness until they fall after Christmas and we are still recovering from the drought last year which killed all the foxgloves and bracken… It’s been dry again this year but not so hot, so we’re hoping for a return to normal next year. I find it harder all the time to reflect the true nature outside, because it isn’t the way it used to be. But maybe tomorrow I’ll paint some blackberries and bracken - we have some heather in our garden which always reminds me of Scotland xxx Oh and the swallows have left already xx
Your artwork is so inspirational, I love listening to you share your thoughts on different subjects... I find your tutorials fun, peaceful and calming... and I adore all your family (dogs, cats etc) that you share. Thank you :)
My 12th: as a beginner I invested in a range of artists tubes colors so I will try to use them and get familiar with them before moving on to all that other good materials out there. In don't want to become more addicted right now. But... watching you makes it hard for me not to buy all the goodies. The way you build your composition using contrasting values and surprisingly adding something new to the painting is like reading a very well written book; a page turner. So... although cannot paint along with you I really enjoy watching and "reading" it as a good page turner. Have a nice day. To get my feet back on the ground I go back to your learning chapter of your channel . Bye wim
This was a wonderful painting showing depth and shading. It turned out great! I enjoy your spontaneous painting and doodles. I’ve painted several and I learn more about my paints. Thanks Diane❤️
Thank you, this was fun to watch! I have some Viviva colorsheets but they were currated by another YT artist. They are fun to use. I learned that it takes very little of the paint and I start at the edges of each color. I'm so happy I found you on YT! Oh. I did send you a message through your website a few days ago. Again, I thank you for the tutorials and the chat.
Ready for fall! Tired of the heat!
🍁🍂🍁
Very rich colors totally enhanced by your talent. I am in awe.
The gold on the dark red is really striking!

I see a little Sprite face in the upper left hand corner. I love the colors. Thank you 😊
The brown red. Wow. Gorgeous.

The colors are fabulous. I love autumn. It's my favorite time of year in northern Illinois. US
Norman only died in 2017 at the impressive age of 98. Thanks for sharing your video and skills with us; I really enjoyed it.
Like a rich embroidered brocade! Thanks for integrating the brush pens again, too, Dianne - good to know they’re blendable.
Gorgeous colors! Can you imagine what the masters of old could've done with all our modern supplies?!
Wow, it looks fabulous. Love the way you blend colors and it always amazes me how the pen embellishments completely change the look.
Thank you so much! It’s true, I’m also often quite surprised!
Glorious colors!
I do admire your "slap happy" technique. It is brilliant when you "find" the trees, etc.

Love all this, not a brown person but these colors are awesome
What I love about the Vivia paints is that they dry the same as when you lay it down. Vibrant!! Love the artwork on top too! Thanks... again.
Loved the outcome!
I love your open mindedness and willingness to try new things and explore non traditional supplies! You keep it fresh and exciting 🍁🍂🧡🤎
Diane the outcome was stunning. Thank you ❤
You are so welcome❤️
You know we love and enjoy everything you do, so no fret.

That looks like a gorgeous tapestry!! Beautiful color palette- I’m in love with it. What a GORGEOUS painting!! It also looks vintage♥️
It would make a lovely duvet cover for the approaching grey sky days …
Oh how I love these vibrant colors reminds me of autumn which I'm anxiously awaiting. I also like the one with trees. Thanks again Diane 😊❤
You are so welcome!
Never too early for Autumn! Lovely paints.
The crazy world of Arthur brown sang Fire
Love the strength of the colours your experimental approach
Really nice piece Dianne. That paper’s texture makes it look like it’s a tapestry. 👍🏻👍🏻

I love to watch how you paint leaves! With such ease and joy! 💕
Thank you so much!
I was wary of how this would develop! It’s stunning. I love the red, orange and gold. The gold really makes it elegant! You are amazing Diane. ❤️
You are on a roll! Because of you, I realize that yellow is now my favorite color. Of course our sun!
