This little village absolutely glows in the sunlight, Diane. Don’t know how you create such lovely pieces, time and again - performance anxiety paralyses me in the privacy of my own home, never mind the very public social media world! In gratitude and admiration for all you do.
@@cathygraetz7229 Hi Cathy, no, it’s not quite that late, it’s 9:45 pm right now. I’m just trying to answer some of tonight’s comments before going to bed! You are the last one and you are the winner because you got two answers tonight!!! Thanks so much again, much appreciated xxx goodnight! Zzzz
This is absolutely adorable….it amazes me how you can paint with abandon…you just do it, now me, I have to analyze and overthink a composition! Just love how a blank piece of watercolor paper becomes a wonderful piece of art! Thanks for all you do and your talking to us like we are right with you and we are all friends!❤
I love the way you repeatedly emphasize that we need to look at this as PLAY instead of work. I love your whimsy, I love your serious work and I love the way you present when you paint. It’s like I’m sitting in the room with you and we’re just painting together. You really are so much help and are such an easy teacher to listen to. I just wanted you to hear that because you sound like you could use some love, even if it’s from the peanut gallery far far away. PS- had to laugh at the love lorn rooster adding to the ambiance.
Hi Freya, I just saw your lovely message and wanted to thank you for bringing me a smile this morning after Covid and a terrible storm have hit us here in France! So glad you are enjoying the videos, and hope you continue to paint along with us!
Everything you create ends up generating or radiating a sense of happiness. So delightful to watch it being created and feel the output of the positive energy. Thank you.
Another inspiring session, I really love listening to you natter away, it’s so soothing. I too loved the Forsythe Saga and I, Claudius. I remember Peyton Place too, my mother would shut my sisters and I out of the living room when it was on, I never knew why! Thank you again x
I love how the buildings look all nestled together and I LOVE the twiggy trees behind them!! It may not be “high” art but it’s warm, colorful and there’s an energy that I get from it and you that makes me smile all over!! From your original piece, I like the green areas which made it seem more woodsy and forest-y. But this one definitely is quite charming!! Oh, I made sure that my name is added to the list for your new brushes….😃😃
I felt totally transported in Switzerland for a while, and also in Whistler, Canada during your painting session. It was fantastic. I love mountains and find it difficult sometimes to show some depth in my landscape, and proportions, so this was very useful to me. Thank you so much Diana
This was a lovely piece as it was. I believe I liked it better before the black. No piece of art us a disaster,if nothing else it's an exercise in learning You are by no means to old!!
Thank you Diane I loved this one. I laughed when you got to the point you didn't like yours and started making changes. I made the changes too right along with you. I love mine it's so colorful and interesting and as a beginner I can do this.
Definitely not a disaster. I just received my MEEDEN wc paints and hot press paper block. I’m going to try to do this using my new supplies. I only hope that I can reach the “disaster” mark that you showed.
Oh goodness, my husband gets so frustrated when I am concentrating I CAN NOT talk at all. I appreciate this video because it was fun. You called this relaxing, it is just what I need, I’m going to try it. You always have something new and whimsical. I have no idea what mine will turn out to be, but the fun is in doing it. Thank you.
Bravo! Clever and you showed us how to improve a piece. That is just as important as one that all went as we hoped! Always always learn with every one of your videos. XOXOX❤️❤️❤️
I love your choice of colors. This, it is a slow down Friday. We had a wind storm yesterday. The wind blew down 15 trees and 6 old cacti. So sad. Your was wonderful, thanks.
I love the whimsical trees, so cute. And again I really think your houses fitted right in and are adorably brilliant. The only thing I would've loved to see was the purple mountains majesty and a little more snow. But I found the painting as a whole so very cozy and fun. Thank you so much. As always I enjoyed this tremendously and look forward to your next painting. XOXOJANE
Fun to watch you as you go at it! Reminds how the light changes colors as it bounces off of the "Rimrocks" that surround our city. At times it changes everything to gold. Plus Montana sunsets blaze in our sunset skies. I enjoyed this segment a lot. Right now we are enjoying a giant orange moon. 🌻
I thought your painting was beautiful and unique. I love the colors and the whimsy ❤️ I enjoyed it immensely. Thank you for sharing with us and so glad your Cockerel is back😊
I am so sorry you were not feeling well when you recorded this. I hope you are much improved now. 🤞🤗. I knew right away those were military jet aircraft. I used to live on an American Air Force base right at one end of the flight line. Many of the spouses whom were my neighbors really hated the racket, but I loved them. I would always run out my door so I could watch the jets taking off… LOLs 🛩️❤.
I would love to be able to create this from my own imagination instead of following other peoples ideas( although I do love following your tutorials). It’s lovely.
Oh how funny. Turns out that ugly is in the eye of the beholder. I was inspired to paint alongside you today and when you got to the part where you said you weren't happy I looked at mine and I was very happy. But I kept going forward with you and was happy throughout.

You have such a relaxed aura when you paint. I so enjoy your videos - watching you certainly relaxes me - painting and talking would certainly not work for me - I love the picture -the colors and the whimsical trees and village -love your imagination!!
I love this scene and it has given me some ideas for a “fail” that’s on my easel right now. One comment about painting and talking at the same time- we use to think that the more multi-tasking we do the better. But they have found that’s not true. We should focus on one thing at a time. It’s better for our brains. So it has nothing to do with getting older and I’m amazed that you can do it at all. Anyway, I love your philosophy and it’s really helping me out of my slump! Thanks so much!
Thanks Ann, I do find that some days the commentary comes more easily than others. I’ve been a bit down about this and that this week and I can’t help it reflecting in my words but next week will be much better! Thanks so much for your support and comments, much appreciated xxx

About the time you said this was a "disahster" (I love your accent!) I was feeling blue because the houses where I live are all boring, and mostly unattractive, look-alikes. They don't even have the charm of chimneys. But it made me think that I should try a view from my front window. Or my back door. There must be something there worth looking at! You lifted my spirits today, as usual.
I love this painting, it feels peaceful and soothing to me. Thank you Diane. P.s. I have loved every painting you have done. I don't imagine it is easy to talk paint at the same time, but you do it and I am glad for it.
I often learn something while watching you. Today, I also learned that you are extremely critical of self, stop it. You are clever and talented. Thank you for sharing
It’s true, maybe it’s a bad habit, I tend to think of it as being realistic, I know I am far from being an expert watercolourist or an expert teacher. But it doesn’t help for me to criticise myself. Some of us experience a great deal of criticism during our lives, especially English people, and echoing that criticism can become a habit. I don’t know if it’s the same in your world. There are days when I forget to overcome it. Thank you for reminding me to keep a sense of perspective.
@@DianeAntoneStudio I’m an Aussie and my ancestors mainly Scottish. I grew up with the “nothing was good enough”. Very hard to overcome that level of criticism and added to that then the learned self criticism which occurs, taken a long time to stop the self brain chatter. You are great, and do great, obviously just needed a reminder 💖
We are so hard on ourselves; I think this turned out quite nice and not a disaster at all. Please don't be so hard on yourself. My dad always used to tell me, don't put yourself down because there is always going to be someone in line to do it for you. Love it and the colors are wonderful.
Such a cozy village setting, and the colors are so warm and fun. Just love to tune in and hear what you have to say while you create these little gems.
Pretty whimsical Bavarian village. I have read The Forsytye Saga by John Galsworthy three times! It is a trilogy of three charming books that follows the life of a family from Edwardian times till beginning of the 29th century . I’ve see the TV series as well, but I’ll take a book any day. However, I do love good tv, so thanks for the info. Thank you for your clever village as well!
I really love this. It’s fascinating how the first layer makes sense for both the trees and the buildings in terms of forms with a lot of interest. It’s like the light is bouncing around around in unexpected ways. I really want to try this.
When I stayed in London for a month in 2007, I stayed on Trevor Place, in a below ground/basement room in a Georgian townhouse around the corner from Montepelier Square where some of the Forsytes "lived" - a lovely area with houses covered in walls of wisteria. Tickled me no end. (Sounds like you and I are of the same generation - I'm an American but soaked up all those British series on TV and literature like a big sponge. So I felt quite a home over there - mystified a bit but loving it. Especially the museums!) The US AF flies (low) over my home all the time - I'm in their flight line (the international airport's too).
Ah, Soames lived in Montpellier Square - how wonderful London was in those days - it has changed a lot since then though and even since 2007. There was so much great tv back then wasn’t there!!!
As a Dane, I was looking forward to hear, what you would say about hygge. But then I thought that everything you do on this channel is pure hygge. To do something that makes you and others happy. Actuallly, Diane, you could be danish. ❤️🇩🇰
Hi Ulla, thanks so much for your lovely comment! I think I probably do have Danish blood, and one of my oldest friends is Danish… I love the concept of Hygge - and do try to follow the principles in my videos and paintings xxx I’ll be expanding on this in the next video! Thanks again and sending hugs!
@@DianeAntoneStudio i'd like to think we're a kinder people today than when we ravaged britain in the viking age. 😂 I will be looking forward to more hygge next week. 🥰
This is lovely. I like the combination of ultra loose background with the geometric buildings. The two main styles of tress really frame the village. Seeing the closer deciduous style trees in front village area and the tall piney style trees up toward the mountains reminds me of the tree patterns we get here in Northern California. I like how the buildings peak out and there are no empty streets filling the center. The “first painting” was very pretty but the addition of stronger lines in the final version really made it pop. I find myself leaning more and more to adding the graphic elements to my watercolors. Thanks for demonstrating how building as you go can be so enjoyable.

My favourite paint, Kuretake, yeah! 😊
I rather like this. I’m glad you decided to show it to us
Pretty whimsical Bavarian village.
Love it! Very relaxing indeed.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I really love this. It’s fascinating how the first layer makes sense for both the trees and the buildings in terms of forms with a lot of interest. It’s like the light is bouncing around around in unexpected ways. I really want to try this.
Diane, I liked both paintings. The color mix on the background looks really beautiful. Again, both came out beautiful!!
Thank you so much!
Love this so much. Colors are SO vibrant 😊
This is so fun and I can’t wait to do this, I love watercolor and work daily with it.
This is SO incredible! Beautiful!
OMG, I love it. It's beautiful. Your creativity always shows 👍🏼
Thanks so much 😊 Thanks so much for commenting, so glad you enjoyed it!
I love the colours the details and the subject of this picture! 💕
Thank you so much!
Whimsical is always fun! It’s not a disaster, i think the black and white pens did the trick. Thanks for the inspiration and enjoy the weekend!
No, it turned out okay in the end! Thanks so much for watching! Have a great weekend!
I love this painting! You are so talented.
This was so fun to watch. Can’t wait to give it a go!
These are both so pretty and do look like fun to make! I did get some more pens with colors, I’m looking forward to using them! 😊😊
Have fun!
We got pens too enjoyable to play colors 😊
Love it❤
