I was the Producer for all three Tri-ang, Tri-ang Hornby and Hornby Dublo productions. They were shot over three years in various UK locations and the product of extensive research. When released on VHS in numbered copies they sold very well. I still have an extensive file of complementary letters. They have not dated but they were shot in 4 : 3 and on a component Betacam format. They were later produced for the DVD market and sold extensively by mail order from ourselves. Of course I still have all the master tapes and edit master. Using the phone number on the sleeve, I still receive complementary calls and inquiries. If there were a significant number of inquiries, we may consider a further pressing. I hope you continue enjoying the productions....I certainly do! Mike Fowler

Superb! Talk about re-living your youth! So much nostalgia, so many familiar models, particularly the Battle Space set, which I had forgotten I had back in the late sixties.

I have been collecting modern hornby stuff but now I collect triang stuff because there built to last and not cheaply made and this vid reflects that

My Grandfather John Hefford was i believe an integral member of the design team with Tri-Ang and Hornby until his untimely passing in the early 60s.

The untold story in this video is the view of the customer. I lived my youth during the timeline of this and Tri-ang was a great part of it. I continue to add to my Tri-ang collection today.

Very nice Hollpoll a real Sunday treat. Like all your many followers I grew up with Triang - Hornby trains so this pushed
all the right buttons for me. Lets hope they continue for many years to come.

My dad and my Uncle Terry made my older brother and I a model railway. I was 6 years old at the time and we thought it was marvelous. that was in 1960/61 and between us we still have a lot of the Loco''s and rolling stock. It was added two every birthday and Christmas. I still remember the christmas we were given "Britannia" and some coaches. We also had and still have a Saddle Tank 0-6-0 locomotive that we nicknamed "Smelly! to this day I still don''t know why it had that smell every time it was run. As some of you know I now live in Thailand and I am making a Model Railway Layout for my son and I. Many thanks for the History lesson.

This should be required viewing for those who claim Hornby have been making trains since 1920. The name has been around since then but the company died in 1964. 8:45
    explains the key event.

The reason for two pantographs on the AC locos was that a loco would run with only the rear one raised so that if the pantograph was damaged the front one could then be raised being clear of what ever damaged the rear one , on woodhead DC locos like the EM2 it was found that both pantographs raised ensured the best power pick up .

The problem with Hornby today is explained in this video. The range is too expensive now and the market is heavily reduced. Triang era was maybe the last highlight that Hornby created, sadly today's Hornby product is awkward in many areas.

Except that Triang was a separate competitive company that out performed Hornby and contributed to its demise as spelt out in the middle part of this.
Later Triang became Hornby, but just in name only. No Hornby staff or tooling were used by Triang.

We had the BIG BIG TRAIN as a christmas gift 1970 or 71. We made a eight digit formed track with boks as bridge pills. It was great. As accesories was contact to put on the track for change of direction. My dad bouth some coched and got he repainted in bordeaux with white windows. It was easy to assample and to set up in the garden. It 1975 I got the TIMPO train set which had the same tracks but in black and same scale. Not sure if Timpo bought the rights from TRIANG train / BIG BIG train.

I still think hornby is great, I have 67 Locos from the steam Era which I grew up in. This time I started modeling in 2014 the fine scale gives me problems but I am thrilled with my 6 layouts

I am sorry, but I have to leave a dislike... the audio is not acceptable for 2019. Reupload it with a mono version with slightly increased volume. It's only on the left channel and very silent.

It was transferred from an old VHS tape, it is what it is like it or lump it and be grateful I took the time and effort to do it for the 99.999 % of viewers who have watched it and enjoyed it.

I'm sure the world will just about manage to keep on turning with after you thumbs down on TH-cam. It's now 2020 and people realise that transfers from old VHS etc are what they are.
