Followed the video exactly, did one pop out today, going to do the other tomorrow. I was concerned about using the "come along" ratcheting strap, but it did work. Glycerin can get a bit too slippery.

Whoa!!! Thanks for this vid. Going to do my Squareback pop outs tomorrow. Should be easier since its square ;) Great share for the Notchback Type3 brothers! Thats looks to be the proper leveraging install secret. BTW my heart stopped when the mallet made it 1st whack @_@ Honest²

Thanks for making the video. I need to do the same on my 63 notch. Do you think the "ratcheting strap" method would work for the round piece too? Maybe dual "ratcheting straps" in both X and Y directions?

I've heard of guys using that method too. You can find some write ups on thesamba.com. I didn't have any straps at the time.

Thanks for the vid but a day short...already built my sqaurebacks glass...bad screws, drilled and tapped. Squareback and notch look the same... BUT how did you do the outer rubber? Im into one glass 6+ hours and still fighting it, not looking forward to the other one. Thanks

I found that a small plastic bicycle tire lever works well but push the bead into the grove with more glycerin, patience, and perseverance. Stay with it, you'll get it.

Thanks. i think the biggest problem I am fighting is although the rubber looks perfect it is still probably 15+ years old from the last restoration. It looks good but is very hard and not pliable...so it does not stretch and or push very easy into the slot...

Just an FYI for all readers...My main issue (after way too many hours trying) was that although the seal looked good...it sucked and was not pliable. I bought new seals and used a butter knife and tucked the seals in. Still very difficult but nothing compared to the originals
