I owned a 2007 e70 X5 with the 4.8 engine. Great car I never had any issues with it. Drove it for about 4 years. Things were starting to deteriorate a little so I ended up selling it. I did change all fluids and anything that would require maintenance so I think that may be key.
Sand all the haze off the headlights and clear coat them. They will look brand new!

NIce X5 Danny! I had at 2011 E70 Twin Turbo. It had lots of power and a smooth ride. The door handles go bad. Hot soapy water cleans them up but eventually you have to replace them. FCP Euro is a great source for them. The engine partition doesn't hold up to the heat and comes apart like yours did (and mine). You can find them on eBay for under $100. Keep up the great work!

Minor bumper damage can sometimes be repaired with a heat lamp. Trick I've used many times.

I've been driving BMW's a long time, had an X3 and an X5, currently have a 5 series touring wagon and a 335i.
They can all throw you a curve ball $ometimes, but nothing drives or handles as well for the money!

You have the coolest nephews on earth.
Clay Bar will get rid of all those contaminants and that back to black is all right but it only lasts about one or two washes.
Solution finish followed by a ceramic coat keeps trim black much longer.
Yes I feel like if I clay bar and ceramic coat the car I will have longer protection!

I would cash in on that X5 while its still in decent shape. As a former BMW technician, after about 80k they start falling appart and cost of maintenance/repairs get pretty high.
200000km and still counting nothing major is up with my bmw X5 3.0 si

What is usually first to got out? And how does the motor and tranny hold up on BMWs?
Motor and tranny usually hold up well. The trans sometimes act up but we usually updated software and most of the time fixed trans issuez. They also had alot of electronics issues, window regulators, PCV components (their made out of plastic..) cv axles. Also many of the interior components made of plastic get brittle and break with age like seat trim, cup holders, dash buttons.

That knocking from the passenger side is the steering rack, it's a common fault, I have it with mine, it only knocks on small pot holes

What people do with those cars is drive them for 100k hard miles. No maintenance whatsoever. They then proceed to trade or sell the car for a newer model. At that point it turns into a money pit. But BMW tends to make good cars.

@@DannyTV7 hey also considering this X5 is 11+ years old it appears to be in really good shape... You can update some of the trim with carbon fiber, or even repaint the dash trim in gloss piano black... You can even change the steering wheel out on and update the look a little.

@@AmeenkChanel Got a better version for cheaper, 3.0sd M Sport 2008 for 6,035. Had some problems but fixed for 720.

@@AmeenkChanel CL55 for 3,000 would be better as it has a 5l V8, along with ventilated seats, heated seats, massage seats, leather, etc. Also, looking at some pictures I've found that the rear passengers would be cramped in the Volvo.
