I have a TDR10 in a electric 64 inch MXS for about two months, no issues.. Went to this setup because of 2.4 interference at one of my RC clubs field...
My last piece of Frsky Hardware is my Horus X10s and a few leftover receivers. I don't plan to buy any other Frsky product. I appreciate the look at the lastest stuff though Andrew. I like the tandem set up there which adds a layer of diversity for the pilot. Right now I exclusively use 915 MHz with TBS Crossfire diversity receivers. Since I made the investment, I plan to stay with them pretty much. Express LRS is an exciting protocol. So far I have one plane with that protocol. Works pretty good. THx again!
I have heard this is trouble for MKS and JR servos. I have one plane with MKS servos and it is an issue. Did resolve it by turning 900 telemetry off. I have savox in another plane, no issues. FRSky servos no issues.
Working on a FPV crawler, where that 900mhz on the ground (bad for radio) will be helpful and i could not get my R6 to bind to my x20. Well it would bind but i could not move any servos. Like you i have a early x20 so i probably need to update it. Thanks for making that comment in the video. I was looking at everything trying to figure out what i did wrong.
Nice idea but in practice a complete fail for me, get that long range antenna anywhere near a servo wire and the servo is likely to go nuts and jitter like crazy, with a dual receiver arrangement you can turn telemetry off on the 868/900 receiver which eliminates the problem but with the tandem receivers you can't, telemetry is either completely off or completely on. They just obviously didn't test it thoroughly on a real use environment which is a shame as the TD 10 and 18 are obviously aimed at fixed wing flyers rather than quads (where it would work perfectly).
Hi. I got a td r10 and the td mx. How do I setup my td mx as secondary receiver, to extend my range. I select any of my channels on the td mx and it only allows sbus out on the td r10
hello, i can't active the antenna on td mode, antenna touch (2,4 and 900mhz) into off positionn, grey color (inactiv), i updated the firmware without success, what did you do?
The red version provides solder pads for each channel signal and SBUS with shared Batt and Ground. Solder on connectors or direct to a flight control board.
What is FBUS? Wonder if it like the FPort Telemetry combined on one wire? Nice looking Mini Talon there. Not much heavier than a typical seagull. Great dji vid there for exploring.
I'm wondering if it's possible to use a GR8 with a remote 900mHz RX over SBUS for redundancy. Would that work in TD mode, or would it require an external R9 module with internal/external RF configured separately (non-TD) on the TX? The use case would be for larger gliders, which seems relevant to your interests. Feel like making a video experimenting/demonstrating such a setup?
Maybe someone can help me. I’ve connected the Td Mx via the S port to a Tx pad on my Fc. I’ve selected the right UART in Inav and set the Telemetry for this UART to S Port. Telemetry is active and I can get the RSSI from the receiver but only the receiver Telemetry not the telemetry from the FC. Any thoughts or ideas for this problem? All stuff is on the newest firmware which is not beta.
Mine works on FPort protocol. In INAV set the Serial Rx Provider to FPort and on the Tandem set the receiver to FPort, Connect SPort/FPort from the TD MX to the UART Tx pin
Thanks for your test. I tested it again but its not working. S port goes to Tx5 on my F405 WSE, Serial Rx provider is set to Fport and Fport is set in my Td X20. I‘m running the EU firmware is this a possible problem?
Lol, your cats like mine Andrew, just muscle in on the act, don't need no invite....Pretty slick dual band, but I'll keep my advanced Crossfire 868mhz link...It doesn't appear to have auto RF power ramping like Crossfire does?...🤔😳🇬🇧🇬🇧
Was thinking of a boxer or TX16 with external 900mhz JR. But would the dual radio be a better idea? I want to spend now so don't have to later. Also adding a Walksnail HD system and goggles. Love your input as going long range with the Atomrc. This will replace a very old QX7 I was given, accst not upgradable to Access. Now we both loved the early long range guys that got fined out of the hobby. But have you found Wesley Carry? He's actually testing all long range while flying. Not sure how long he'll last but fun to watch and informative.
Just got a x20s today with a few TDr10’s and here I find the best tutorial as usual!!
Nice gear Jeff. Darren Lines has some great Ethos tutorials too.
What's your take on this after all this time? I know you used to fly spektrum...
Thanks

Yes we had some dead spots for 2.4 at our Geelong field too
Amazing advertised range on the TD receivers. Looking forward to your report on actual use and penetration prowess!

Can you bind an Access rx (as slave) with a TD receiver for redundancy/failover?
Probably, but not by me
50 to 100kms is nuts!!! Hehe, when you opened the first box I was expecting some kind of tech monster to come looming out!!!
Just a kittle tech monster
Thanks helped me with the binding setup for these TD R10!!!😊
No problem 👍
They wreck absolute havoc with your servos. Continuously causing servos to jitter due to the 900 MHz telemetry link
Hi, is this still an issue?

Excellent, for me it's step one on the FrSKY trouble shooting list

hi is there and info on what colour wires do on the 4 pin plug ?
Smart Port, + Red, AIN2 (Analog telemetry input), - Black

Don't know. Ask on the FrSKY or EthOS Facebook groups
hello, i can't active the antenna on td mode, antenna touch (2,4 and 900mhz) into off positionn, grey color (inactiv), i updated the firmware without success, what did you do?
Choices on mine are Antenna - Internal or External. TD Mode. I didn't have to do anything
How do you connect up wiring on TD MX
The red version provides solder pads for each channel signal and SBUS with shared Batt and Ground. Solder on connectors or direct to a flight control board.
Do you have this working together?
Wonder if it will run the INav lua script? It is a fine radio for sure. Would like to see the fpv video system.
Me too
We may see it before the end of the year.
Just out of curiosity, will this reciver bind to a Turnigy 9XR Pro with a FrSky DJT RF module? I use FrSky V8FR-II receivers now. Thanks for any help
XJT module? No only works with Twin modules.
Another question. Will my receivers work with the Tandem radio, or will I need to get new receivers??
Will need to add an external XJT module to the Tandem radio to keep using your current receivers
@@AndrewNewton Thank you for your help!!!
Hi Andrew, how often do you go out to the bluff for a fly. I am heading that way early next week.
Whenever I have time and conditions suit. What are you flying? I'll keep an eye out.
What is FBUS? Wonder if it like the FPort Telemetry combined on one wire? Nice looking Mini Talon there. Not much heavier than a typical seagull. Great dji vid there for exploring.
FBUS is just the new name for FPORT2. SBUS and SPORT combined
Nice pic of the Leafy Seadragon on the wall there mate. 1 of yours?
Yes, captured at Rapid Bay jetty, just 40min away from here.

Beyond my knowledge I'm afraid
@@AndrewNewton All good!
It si for radiomaster tx16s?
No, only FrSKY Tandem radios
Good vid! I use SR8 and R9X together - do you know if there are any stabilized tandem Rx?
Best place to find out is the FrSKY website
Send it Sir! What Telemetry power do these receivers have?
Not listed anywhere I can find.
10mw power on 900mhz is enough?
That's the lowest power but still fine for close range
Another reason to have that kind of range is if you like going inside of buildings or behind trees and not having to worry.
Thanks for that Nathan. I had "penetration" written down but forgot to mention

Are you in the uk as looks like our coastline
A clue.....it's winter now
I thought you was down south by the accent, but that coast line looks a lot like ours in the south of uk
Yes a long way south. South Australia

R9 had auto power so it might. I'll have to RTFM
@@AndrewNewton I shall expect a follow up of this important feature...😀😳😏🇬🇧

Up to 100km according to the product page
power 10mw?
Yes
@@AndrewNewton 10mw is too little power?
ELRS V3 has 16 full res channels
Sounds promising but not available as a stable release yet
💕👍
If you have 900 mhz no need anything else
I do

The Tandem radios are much better quality and Ethos is easier than EdgeTX. But depends whether you want Open source EdgeTX or closed FrSKY
