brotha, this song explains everything a female needs to know. domestic violence isn't a joke. I was in a relationship with someone that was put through that, and it was so hard for her to trust and be happy. if only I could have shown her this song before she walked out and left because of the stuff she's been through.

I'm in the process of adopting a 5 yr old wonderful little girl that was sexually abused by her biological mother and her father more her biological mother but the father didn't stop it (she has lived with me for a year) and this is our song we play it turned all the way up over and over in the car and at home. she knows every word and sings along every time. it has actually helped her a lot with her speech she was very delayed due to the trauma she has endured and singing has brought her so far. for 6 months after I got her no one could understand her now 5 months of listening to this song daily and singing your songs everyone can understand her! every time we listen to this song she says you're the best mommy I ever had and i love you through the whole universe! she melts my heart and I wanted to thank you Taylor Ray because that little girl loves all of your songs and of course I do too! It's definitely made going through horrible court dates every 2 months worth it all to see the smile on her face after singing our hearts out to your song! our adoption will be final by Sept 2017!!!

I was a victim of abuse twice. I’m a boy though. So I had a abusive father who would abuse me and my mother. He was on drugs and drank sometimes. He would beat me and my mother. When he beat my mother he did it right in front of me and this went on for four years. Finally my mother divorced him. The second time was when I was with my ex. I loved her dearly. But she changed out of nowhere. As soon as I met her brother she became abusive. She wasn’t a normal girl either. She play a lot of sports. She beat me up and her brother would come over and do the same. I broke up with her and found somebody new and we got married and had a kid. Then she was tragically killed in a car accident. I have been diagnosed with PTSD, Anxiety, and depression. I am currently taking therapy and am getting better. And I hope nobody else will ever have to go through what I went through.
I'm sorry you went through this brother. But your still here that shows what a strong amazing person you are. Keep your head up you are loved.

That’s the exact reason I walked away while my son is still young, I’m sorry you had to witness that. I remember a bag by our front door and being told a word that meant get your siblings and those bags and get to the car. It didn’t stop us from going through it though
Omg I'm so sorry to hear all of this sadness especially when you found happiness it was tragically taken away from you. 😢I was beat for 15 years by my ex husband and am now being mentally and emotionally and verbally abused. I truly hope that you have now found peace in your life
I'm from a small town in N.C and my Mama and Grandpa were killed 5 years ago by her husband. My grandpa was wheelchair bound and in the bed and had no way of defending himself. My Mama was his caregiver. On the night she was finally ready to tell her husband to hit the road for good, he snapped. She was abused by him for 15 years or more. The only thing that me and her ever argued about WAS HIM. I witnessed him attacking her more than once as a kid and teenager and could never understand why she would just let him right back in. This has been the hardest 5 years of my life. This rocked our family and I try to share her story with people that I know are being abused in hopes of helping at least one, but these people are so mentally torn down that they feel like no one else can love them. I wish it was as easy as just hearing a song to wake people up. They don't realize how many people are affected if their abuser kills them.

I'm so sorry to read this! It is so hard. Power control is real to the name. Power. Even if they know (which you're right many think no one will be there.) they can be loved. They are exactly that so torn down emotionally , mentally , physically , and don't even realize until you're out. The difference between real reailty and what was once thought to be reailty. 16.5 years of emontial abuse. Manipulation, gas lighting , power control, and more. I'm free now and couldn't be happier. And in those I was still me but at the same wasn't fully me. So hard to explain. Why it is so hard to spot sometimes. Prayers for healing to you and all affected. Taylor, thank you for this song. I was abused by family members and by boyfriends, by the age of 15 I was a wreck. I would flinch anytime someone even looked at me. I prided myself on my ability to “disappear” and just blend in so no one noticed me. I refused to date because I thought I was too broken for any man. I listened to this song for years as a way to cope and remind myself that there are men out there who are patient and willing to wait until I’m ready. Well… I’ve found that man. He’s incredibly patient, loving, understanding, he’s amazing at communicating, and he’s the healthiest- most non toxic- person I’ve ever been around in my entire life. I came back to this song today and instantly smiled. This song had given me a hope I once lost, so thank you

Not only did I finally make it through the negative . I'm thankful I can show my children how to treat someone and how to be treated by someone . people can be mean sad but true but we have to get through it together . so all you beautiful lady's keep your head up because when you think its the end for you I promise the good lord will pick you up and help you through it . never settle for less and never ever make someone see your worth. I've been there my abuser will never be held accountable for what he did tho since the detective on my case never fave the charges to the prosecutor's office. it's hard I left him 7 years ago in may it gets better hun you learn to be happy and you will find that person who will make you smile again.

I promise you it does get better. It's hard at first but it does get better. Make sure you are safe. He will say whatever it takes to get you to come back but then it will all happen again . One thing I learned is if he got away with it once he will do it again cuz he knows you will put up with it and accept it. Idk how bad it's gotten but make sure you have friends that you can tell the situation to so there's a record of it. I was embarrassed to tell but there's nothing to be ashamed of or embarrassed of. The shame and embarrassment is on him not you. Please be safe. I promise there is someone out there who won't treat you like an animal and hurt you. Theres someone who will love everything you thought was a flaw or that he said was ugly every little thing about you they will love. You deserve to be happy just like anyone else does I've found happiness and even tho I'm single I'm.happy. I'm.alive . That's what matters.

I grew up in Lee County, went to high school with Taylor actually when he was a freshman and I was a Junior. I’m currently fleeing from a domestic violence relationship, I visit this page ever so often to give me hope and maybe even one day I can feel good enough to even start singing again.

I was never physically abused but I was mentally & emotionally abused in a relationship with someone who is an alcoholic so this song also speaks to me for that reason I was so messed up when we split up I was depressed & lost a bunch of weight be of it but it's been over a year & im much stronger now & im happy being independent 💜

Someone amazing and that means ooh so Damn much to me showed me this song, he is just my friend right now but I pray to God one day he Will be ooh so much more, I feel that I might have fallin deeply in love with him, and that scares me but also feels absolutely amazing because I haven't ever felt like I would love in the way I am feeling for him.. I am still going through this with my daughters father while was pregnant with his child where I had to be in domestic violence victim support group. This makes me stronger and smile and not be depressed or scared anymore.

Taylor, I just wanted to thank you so much for coming out with a song that has a cause n so much meaning for so many people. I myself am a victim of domestic abuse so hearing this song and your music has helped alot. I love ur music and I don't think there's a track I've heard on utube yet that I haven't like or couldn't relate to in ur music n I love ur voice its amazing n one of a kind but the way you can change ur voice like in "tie me down" it's just crazy. I've been n delt music my entire life n I thank the lord above everyday BC without music there's times idk how I would have survived I've always enjoyed singing n wanted to sing but a thats just not really possible for me since I had to have a emergency surgery when I was younger m they had to burn my throat n vocal cords to get the bleeding to stop. I was verbally and occasionally physically abused by my grandparents. They always hated me bc I was exactly like my mom, physically and mentally, and they hated the fact that my baby sister saw me as her mom instead of my grandmother. I always did my best to keep my brother and sister from seeing or hearing it, but it didn't always work. Bc of this, combined with them already gaslighting me into believing that its only rape if penitration is made at 6, i didn't say anything when I was SAd by one of my older cousins. I'm still healing from the pain and trauma I endured from them but I'm doing better. I just wish I didn't need to heal. I don't wish any of what I went through on anyone. Everyone please keep in mind that if you wouldn't do or say it to a partner or friend, you shouldn't do or say it to a child
