"You can't expect a 15 to do what a 10 does and you can't expect a 10 to do what a 15 does." Brilliantly put. You have a way of clarifying extremes that is just excellent.
@@neosapien247 There's this pervasive myth that larger diameter woofers can't be as "quick" as smaller ones. Of course that's all dependent on materials, power and damping factor. However, it is true that there's no replacement for displacement. Meaning, smaller woofers on their own cannot produce the SPL of larger ones. In other words, a properly-designed 15 or 13 is the smarter choice if you have the space.
I have dual HT/1508s in my bedroom and they hit God awful hard. Of all my subs, these duplicate hard impacts like no other, and they react instantaneously. I was wondering if you were ever going to review them and now I see you have the HT/1510. My wishes answered. Keep it going!
@@josealfredfernandes We can't expect a smaller sub to perform on par with a larger sub of a similar design. The Predator is more on par with the Rythmik E15hp2.
@@marcusaurelius2988 no they do not, most likely to keep costs down as these are designed primarily for theater enforcement where the user will be using their LFE channel.
I have original Predator, surprising how fast the REL 15 is. Very dynamic, powerful, deep but fast at the same time. It's an amazing combination of attributes. I wish you had heard the original for comparison.
Thank you for the thorough review of this sub. The HT series is definitely great for music. I have owned the 1508 for a while. When REL had the T/X9 on sale, I almost purchased one to replace the 1508. REL actually recommend keeping the 1508 to pair with Cornwall IV instead of the T/X9. REL not only makes great sub but also put clients before a sale. Great respect for REL.
Very nice review as always @ nemopropaganda. Very happy with my 1508 since a year. As you have said merges very well with the fronts. For me this is a great sub for HT and music.
I am now using one of the rel 1510 for my 2.1 computer hi-fi set up and omg it sounds sweet. I have the other two 1510 for my bedroom surround set up. i have a huge room. I went form owning a lot of svs subwoofers to now to rel and golden ear subwoofers, like my super x and golden ear forefield 40. I like small size. i got tired of svs. they are great but rel its just so good imo. I love watching your videos. great info always. thanks.
Question how does it compare to kf92? Besides the obvious KEF going much deeper. For music is KEF better being smaller drivers or REL? Lastly what would you prefer 2x RELs or 2x KEFs for music and movies?
you are comparing a small subwoofer to a large subwoofer, I made a video for that: th-cam.com/video/kJ21aj9voMc/w-d-xo.html as far as what I would choose the simple answer is both and I own both so I'm not avoiding the question, that is my honest answer. I use and own both KC62 and T7X and HT1205.
hello, thank you for the review, if I were to ask you which one you would choose for listening to music, mostly electro house rap, the Klipsch RP-1600SW or the REL HT/1510 Predator II ?
I have not heard the RP16 specifically but generally speaking very large vented subwoofers like that are designed and tuned for LFE effects so they're amazing for room rumble but have a very limited frequency range which makes it the wrong tool for the job because you're a music customer. The 1510 is the easy choice.
Hi. Great review. My hall has a volume of over 6000 cu. Ft. Would one HT1510 be enough, or would I need 2? Pairing it with tannoy precision 6.2 and 6c.
that is a better question for REL or the dealer you plan on buying from. My advice is start with 1 and see how you like it. Listening habits will determine if 1 is enough or if a pair are needed.
You seem to be the guy that started using SQ / SPL term for subwoofers. Problem is that the vendors do not use the term, so wouldn't a good idea to try to quantify that a bit more? If you measured the frequency range you could provide it at same conditions: e.g. all @-3db. The term "fast" needs some more details as well. Why not provide the delay times? I watched most of your videos, but at the end it is so much subjective that I cannot decide... next hifi store is far away
Hi Sloth, I did not coin the phrase myself, it's fairly common in car audio where we're buying raw drivers, the driver manufacturers themselves use this terminology. It has nothing to do with measurements or frequency ranges, it has to do with definition & detail. Even tweeters do not have a measurement metric that indicates how effortless they are or how resolute they can be so measurements never tell the whole story. I do not believe measurements are as useful to the end consumer, it seems to confuse most people and I find many customers focusing on the wrong thing or misunderstanding the measurement or placing too much value on it. This is a subjective review channel and I believe this is a subjective hobby. I'm sorry you did not find it helpful, you may enjoy another content creator more that is more objective focused like erinsaudiocorner, check him out, he does great work. If you are building a theater I think measurements will be very improtant for time alignment since there are so many speakers involved but I only focus on 2 or 2.1 channel.
what do you think about this vs the S/812 And by that I mean future in mind, and eventually choosing 6 of these. 6 predators or 6 S/812 would you commit to?
Hi Sammy, due to the significant invenstment and my lack of experience with subwoofer arrays I suggest you reach out to REL directly for this question.
Thanks a lot for all the work & the passion you put into ur vids. I have a room that is the size of yours. I currently own the HT 1003mk2. I want to add another Rel. Would you go for the old HT 1508 Predator or the new 1205mk2 ? (Can’t see myself spending 2200€ in the new Predator, plus I am not even sure if a 15inch sub would work correctly in my room, therefore my question…) Thank you in advance for your input.
Hello, I have not herad the original 1508 but it just depends on what you're trying to accomplish. If its just for music I'd just add another 1003 mk2.
@@NemoPropaganda Thank you so much for your answer. It would be 20% music, 40% movies and 40% video games. Again thanks, I really appreciate your insight.
As always Nemo, I and many others greatly appreciate the work that you put into your videos and reviews. Definitely miss it when you don't do the item comparisons. Was curious as to how this sub compared to the Svs 3000 or 4000. That aside, I hope all is well with you. A Nemo video is always a great thing to view, but it seems to be missing that "Nemo Spice" without the use of tactically placed profanity. Stay safe Brother and keep those reviews coming !!! Semper Fi !!!!!
Hey Troy, I'll do a separate video for comparisons. I have not heard the SB4000 but the SB3000 cannot compete with a 15" sub. It was always designed to be a compact solution and it's a great one but the 1510 is considerably larger.
@@NemoPropaganda The SB3000 does 18hz-3db and the rel 1510 20hz-6db, but i think on 30 or 40 hz the rel has way more output. Below 20 hz sounds not always best in a room, but its nice to have.
@@palmspar freq roll off is not very indicative or real world performance. That's just roll off, not actual output. KEF KC62 extends lower than both of them with it's little 6.5" drivers. That doesn't mean it can play those lowest frequencies with substantial output. This is why we should not focus on specs too much. Specs matter but you have to think about the real world performance. A 15" will produce 18hz at much higher volumes than a 13". SB3000 is a great sub but cannot compete with a 15" bro.
@@palmspar Sb3000 used to bottom out with electronic music and hence changed to the Ported PB3000 of which is a different beast - like the looks of these Predators as I mostly listen to music
Hey Nemo, great review per usual. I bought a E15HP2 about 30 days ago. I’m still in my 45-day window so curious if you would give the nod to the new Predator for 80/20 music/movies system? Any color your can provide ahead of your next video would be greatly appreciated. No worries if cannot swing it. Thank you.
Great job like always bro one question if I change the cord power cord I mean what it makes a big difference. I was thinking putting a bigger power cord to my subwoofer would it make any difference?
Makes biggest difference to your wallet from my experience. But I do like the way a fat power cord looks. Just haven't noticed difference on DAC, streamer, integrated, power amp or sub that I've tried the 'upgraded' cords on. Now a dedicated circuit from the fuse panel is what I'd really like to try ..
@@HPMIKE55 Power cord make a difference, especially used in amps and sources/dacs, any devices. In sub it also improve the sound, but only bass. In subs there no need to get more bass by ticker cable, but better control, articulation, tone you can get slightlly improved. I gain pretty huge improvement in my whole system when swaped all power cords.
@@NemoPropaganda thanks bro but I just did and it sounds the same! Lol 😂 I’m going to return it tomorrow $250 not Worth the investment. How about using both RCA inputs is it worth it or just use one? To make a sound difference.
Thanks for your reviews and I'm down to the Rel Predator and JL Audio e112 subs, and can't find a store to a/b them. I'm 80% HT and 20% music with a med-large room. Currently Denon receiver, with front & center B&W 702 S3, with B&W 606s rears, all powered by Anthem 525 amp. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
both subs are quick, both subs have a lot of output, main difference from my perspective is the tonal quality. The larger 1510 sounds a little more effortless while the smaller E112 sounds a little more forced. I tend to like a bass presentation that is more effortless but some people enjoy the forced and more aggressive sound of JL.
I have a single 1510 now and I love it. I already had dual 1508 and now I'm using 1 1508 and 1 1510. The 1510 is an improvement over the 1508 in every way. Surprisingly the biggest measurable difference was in midbass. The 1510 has significantly more midbass from about 60hz on up. The 1508 dropped off a cliff at around 80hz but the 1510 extends that out to about 110-120hz so it works much better with the speaker crossover even if your crossover is 80hz like mine is because a crossover isn't a hard cutoff. There is also a 1-3db difference between 20-30hz in favor of the 1510. The 1510 does what I call the "unmeasurables" well, meaning speed, punch, articulation, note to note distinction, etc. Can't wait to get a 2nd and run 2 1510's. 😁
Hi Nemo, I would really appreciate your advice on subwoofer selection. I am designing a 7.2.4 home theater with Klipsch RP 8000F II floorstanding speakers, Klipsch 504RC II, Klipsch 180 RPW and RPC speakers. I recently heard the REL Ht 1510 and really liked it. It was loud and I felt the bass hit my chest (which is what I want). I thought the REL was a great SPL subwoofer. I later went to look at forums, YT videos etc and found that REL HT 1510 is more a SQ sub. After listening to reviews on the JL audio E110, I feel this better suits my preferences in terms of hard hitting, fast reactive bass and it also seems to do all the things the REL does in terms of transient response, But I have only heard the JL audio fathom subwoofer. So my question is, will I be happy with the REL in terms of low end extension and high SPL, or should I try and go for the JL audio? Thank you in advance.
Don't believe everything you read, the 1510 is actually a lot more heavy handed than most REL subs, the entire new HT MK2 range is in fact. It's an SQ sub in that it has quick transients, good detail, and handeling of delicate passages, but it has the SPL characteristics that matter without overdoing things. It's a little heavy handed, concussive, extends low, and plays loud. If I were in your shoes the only upgrade I would consider is adding a second one :). If you're really curious about JL you might need to make a drive to a local dealer and try to listen to a pair of E112 but I think the output/extension would be similar with the major difference being that JL heavier handed presenatation at the expense of a very slight loss in nuance detail and a slightly smaller sense of scale. Basically both subwoofers are extremely good! A lot of the money you spend on the JL will be to have damn near the same extension & output as that 1510 but in a smaller form factor.
from my discord: The KF92 is always going to come down to this: if it's output is sufficient for the room it's hard to find a better theater sub regardless of the size. If the output is not sufficient then generally speaking nearly anything larger will be preferable. The 1510 is substantially larger and should have considerably more headroom at all frequencies as well as a larger sense of scale. As far as musical performance I'm actually going to give a slight edge to the REL 1510 as it's leading edges are a little more well defined while the KF92 has more of a softness to its leading edges. Lastly the 1510 has a bit of a heavier tone to it while the KF92 has a slightly lighter tone by direct comparison. If KF92 is between SPL & SQ the 1510 is just a hair over towards the SPL side only due to it's heavier presentation. All other aspects of the 1510 are very SQ. Worth considering is the KF92 employs active DSP meaning as output increases frequency roll off becomes more aggressive while the REL 1510 will be more consistent at higher volumes. Both subs perform well at lower volumes so you certainly can shove a 1510 in a smaller room or a larger room where as KF92 is really for lower volumes or smaller rooms. Hope this helps.
Hey Nemo! You think this 1510 can replace two 1205 MKi’s? I have them now and just ordered the 1510. Couldn’t spring for two plus I’m not sure I can fit two anyway, but I though this 15 would really pressurize my 20x24” living room where the 12’s somewhat struggle in bass heavy scenes.
Hi bro, yeah I think a single 1510 will outperform a pair of 1205 V1. Bass may not be as even but it should sound pretty darn impressive. The 1510 has a very large sense of scale and a forcefulness to it that the original 1205 V1 didn't have.
As a new rel owner thanks to your great reviews, does the rythmic fvx 12 compare to this? I know it’s ported vs sealed and 15 vs 12 but I know you’ve said the fvx12 is super musical even tho it’s ported. Better yet two fvx12 is almost the price of a single 1510.
Bro! Did you connect your dual T9x’s over high level input or low level L and R inputs or use bass management with your preamp/AVR aka use the LFE input? I’m always curious how everyone uses their audio gear ⚙️
Hey Nemo, great review as usual. I have a question and I need your input. I have a REL 1508 Predator that I use as my back subwoofer (I mostly use my system for movies). My plan was to eventually buy to more and make it a line array. Do you think I buy 2 HT1510s and add them to my HT1508, to still make the line array? Thanks
Looking at this REL 1510 vs the Rythmik E15HP2 or the SB4000 for mix movie/music (70/30). I like sealed subs and the space for a ported is just not available. I know you had very good things to say about the E15 so how does this 1510 compare?
you're focusing on the wrong thing my bro, even if the extension spec was the same the larger 15" will play those lowest frequencies much louder and with much more force!! I love both subs a lot, if you're doing theater for sure go for the larger 15" but do consider you can buy a pair of 1205 for the same price which would also be pretty amazing!! I think personally I would go for the pair of 1205!
@@NemoPropaganda a jumped onto your discord and multiple people explained this last night but thanks for the reply a love subs 😁 cheers Nemo your a legend bro 🤟
I wish they would have dropped the frequency was hoping for some 10hz. I get 85dba at 15hz with my Dual 1508s now so if they would have dropped it to 16-18hz would have been ideal and probably hit 12hz with some usable output. 1508s are 114dba max so now it's probably around 117dba or so. I have measured 121dba with my dual 1508s so 125dba with dual 1510s? Come on HT18!!
Hey Jim! Is 10hz with real output even possible with a single 15”? I always thought that was something only 18’s could do. I’m glad you’re enjoying your 1508’s :)
@@NemoPropaganda I don't know, I just had high hopes. LOL. I wish they made an HT18 with 10hz. I have a pair of Seaton F18s for my subsonic But still the 1508 is great quality still get like 5-6db added to the Seatons output above 50hz

Im still debating 1510 vs rythmik (various) How important is extension to and below 20hz? Also. If my speakers are “dynamic”, would an spl sub match that dynamic character better than an sq sub?
depends who you ask, my theater buddies chase every hz down to single digits. I think for most music flat down to 25hz is plenty. As far as the second question it doesn't really work like that. 2 main factors are personal taste and synergy but personal taste is priority. If your taste is for SPL style bass you will always prefer the heavier sounding sub regardless of synergy. thats my belief at least :)

I really think you should try and review one of the Martin Logan Dynamo subs. I just got my REL HT1510 and when compared to my friend’s new Martin Logan, the rel is not as fast, tactile or articulate (music testing). Im surprised at how little I’ve found about the Dynamo’s. It’s annoying how good they are. The HT1510 is marginally better than the SVS subs I had. I think the Dynamo is substantially better. Maybe it’s the downward firing driver behind his seating position? Going to borrow his and try it in my room to see if I’m remembering correctly.
Based on what you're saying either you don't have the sub setup right or its not even close to being broken in. You should spend at least 2 weeks with any audio product before forming any opinoin.
@@NemoPropaganda You were absolutely right. The REL was no where close to being broken in, it was brand new. I’ve actually never experienced anything like it. After a few hours of use, the 1510 opened up so much. Everything improved. It’s like night and day… I did however borrow a friend’s ML Dynamo 1100x and paired that with my 1510. I placed the down firing 1100x behind my listening position (behind my couch, using the wireless transmitter) and the rel is up front to the left of my right stereo speaker. The sound is incredible. The improvement was dramatic. Not only that, but I feel like I have the best of both worlds because I have quick articulate bass traveling across the floor from the Dynamo, as well as through the air from the HT1510. I ordered my own 1100x and transmitter after that. The improvement with this set up over my old dual svs pb2000’s is HUGE.
@@dmitris77 hell yeah brother, I'm happy you had that experience. Real subwoofer break-in really can be night & day sometimes :) A lot of brand new subs can sound overly tight and lack the force & extension we expect but 2-weeks or so usually fixes all of that. Some of my favorite subs sounded downright awful in their first few hours.
that's a tough question brother, you have narrowed your choices down to two extremely good subwoofers. I loved both of them and they both had really good sound quality for music. I don't think I can pick one over the other.
both are excellent SQ subwoofers, the E15hp2 will extend a bit lower and be a little bit more composed while the 1510 will play a little more agressively with its initial bass attack. I like both a lot.
Great review as always! 2 questions... 1) Do you have to tighten the screws (all) on this one too? Did REL finally get their QC in check? 2) Does this one have the Eye of Ra sunbeam of cancer light on the back as well, or did they finally tame it down? Not trying to bag on them, but these are known issues that REL really needs to address and just curious if these still persist.
I've never had to tighten the screws on any subwoofer from any company. As far as the LED I do agree they are a bit bright on most of their subs. I didn't notice it on this one but it could just be because it's so much larger it's blocking the light. You could always just put a small piece of tape over it or use a sharpie :)
@@NemoPropaganda I have a HT1205 and a t7x and both (one from a shop, the other from REL directly) had every single one of their screws loose, woofers to amp back plates in less than a year. Other people on RELs Facebook group have had these same issues as well. It kinda passes me off given the money I spent and having to finish their build. I get maintenance, but sloppy qc is another thing. Yeah, REL also said in response to their death beam to just use electrical tape to cover it... kind of tacky if you ask me. It's really annoying for the one in my bedroom since I don't need to turn on my lights at all, let alone the neighbors have to close their shades across the street as well. Ok, maybe that last part was an exaggeration, but you get my point/rant. If you own one, check the screws. Me and a few others came up with using nail polish and blue loctite for a fix so you won't have to tighten every 6 months and with the screws (hex bolts) being a soft metal, they tend to strip easy. What's sad is the cheapo Klipsch in my garage system has tight bolts... Anyway, love your work and reviews, don't stop, you're solid!
@@seano218 maybe I have a newer version, my T7X pair but I could have sworn I saw blue loctite on the threads when I took it apart. The hardware on T/X I found to be very nice but I also use high-end tools. I only use Wera allen keys as they have tighter tolerances and are designed not to strip the key hole of the allen bolt. I will agree HT1205 hardware is less impressive but being the more budget line I was not surprised but no loose screws there either. My room is small so I'm also not pushing my subs too hard compared to those with larger rooms or using their system for theater.
@@NemoPropaganda interesting to know. I guess some of us have issues and some don't. Guess I need to hop on the loctite train then. I don't push them hard for long either as well as having a small bedroom and living room. Thanks for your input!

KF92 is a beast but it's much smaller than the Predator. Both extends very low and sound fantastic. The larger Predator will be capable of filling a much larger room and much higher SPL's. fyi the KF92's dual 9.5" drivers equal a single 13.5" driver which is still much small than a 15" driver.
I'd consider them equally as good just slightly different sound. I'd grab whichever one fits your aesthetic preferences as that's the biggest difference.
@@deankim6687 yeah they both knocked it out of the park. Both E15 and HT1510 are capable of rattling windows, they just do it in a different way.
@@NemoPropaganda Ok so how does the 1510 fairs against the e15. I think the 1508 should have similar characteristics. Would be great if you can describe how it fairs against the e15 in terms of SQ, Articulation, Mid bass and integration
@@navinsamuel2005 I wouldn't make any assumptions. I have the 1205 MK2 and MK1 and while they are similar in some ways they're also very different from each other in some ways. Both E15hp2 and Predator 1510 are excellent sounding subwoofers, both have excellent midbass and integrate well and anyone would make a wise choice to purchase either however the slight edge goes to the e15hp2 for extension, midbass, and integration as it is more the pure SQ focused subwoofer. Predator 1510 on the other hand has a stronger and more prominent sound while still having incredible speed, articulation, and midbass. This is one comparison I very much struggle with and personally I find it very difficult to recommend one over the other. I think it will mostly come down to personal taste, people will either prefer the slightly stronger & heavier sound of the 1510 or the lighter cleaner sound of the e15hp2. At the end of the day we're talking about 2 of the best sounding 15's in the market.
They don't use a DSP, but they surely use an EQ to bring the bass up below 35 Hz to get a smooth roll off. It doesn't interfere with the fidelity as much as an actual DSP though and Rel doesn't overdo it as far as I can tell from specs
I won't pretend to understand the ins & outs, I only know there is no digital processing of the signal but of course there must be some kind of analog processing or we wouldn't be able to adjust phase, gain, or freq.
I will make a separate video for comparisons. 1723 1S is a very good sub though. If you have the extra money for the Predator the larger driver does give it an advantage but both are excellent options for their price.
@@megrey6926 You will have much more bass power available but unless your room is larger the 1961 is a very good sub. Actually sounds a little similar to the 1510, kind of like a baby version.

@@megrey6926 I think you should keep what you have. The 1723 1S is fantastic and plays incredibly clean for music and movies. I don't think the 1510 will be a big upgrade for you bro. Hey Ben, hope this helps: 1510 has a heavier tone and sounds strong. E15hp2 is more coming fromt the ink black background to enhance the entire experience. I don't know which one plays louder but the E15 extends lower.
This, the HT1508 (Adorama has it right now for 1029$), Rythmik FVX12 or the Rythmik E15HP2? I want a sub for a 2ch PC setup so the sub is litterally going to be at my feet or to the side of them...I'm looking for a sub that plays at low level lisenting for mostly gaming, youtube videos, and music. I am a bass head, so I want tons of output, but also a clean non-muddy sounding bass. I would say I listen to my setup at no more than 30-40% volume, so the bass being heard at low volumes is important to me more thant it sounding loud, but make no mistake I also like to rock out and max the volume out too...I just can't seem to find something that does both.
any of those subs should be great, however for the record I have not heard the original predator. Those are all pretty big for under the desk though lol.
@@zorhis1996 man that's really tough. Since REL makes both I suggest you call them, tell them your room dimensions, and see what they say. I think either way would be awesome. Personally I think I woudl do dual 12's but the room is a factor and they can tell you more about that.

Nemo, really appreciate your videos. Especially how you get into the details of speaker performance. With that said, in your subwoofer reviews you haven't included a Klipsch model. What are the chances of you reviewing the C-310ASWI or their top 12" or 15" sub. ✌🏽
@@NemoPropaganda🤞🏼 I think that's what they're missing in their line up. I've owned 2 of them over the years. Pretty good with music and "okay" in H.T. They just don't hit below 25hz hard enough for my liking.
Pop quiz hotshot, this 1510 or 1723 1s? I did demo the smaller 1003 once so much so it changed my opinion of rels subs even though every other "expert" was ripping them to pieces.
from my discord: Predator 1510 vs Arendal 1723 1S: The 1723 is a 13.8" so the REL Predator has the size advantage here. I like that the Arendal comes with a painted finish vs vinyl on the Predator and the narrow front baffle of the Arendal is a cool and unique look. As far as sound both subwoofers are capable of serious bass for their respective sizes and both have excellent sound quality, the Arendal has a lot of setup options and a cellphone app while the REL is more of a purist piece with extremely quick response for a 15" and has a slightly heavier tone to it. Since their biggest difference is shape I think you should choose based on which shape your room can accommodate. If shape and size are not an issue I suggest you buy whichever is cheaper in your region. If they are the same price in your region I would lean towards the 1510 as my personal taste is always for the more purist piece.
@@NemoPropaganda good response mate, and I think that finish does sway me towards the 1s along with the ten year guarantee. Plus the fact of all those tinkering choices makes it a good all rounder. Appreciated👍
"You can't expect a 15 to do what a 10 does and you can't expect a 10 to do what a 15 does." Brilliantly put. You have a way of clarifying extremes that is just excellent.
I don't understand what that means. Could you perhaps explain it a little more without the audiophile jargon?
@@neosapien247 There's this pervasive myth that larger diameter woofers can't be as "quick" as smaller ones. Of course that's all dependent on materials, power and damping factor. However, it is true that there's no replacement for displacement. Meaning, smaller woofers on their own cannot produce the SPL of larger ones. In other words, a properly-designed 15 or 13 is the smarter choice if you have the space.

you are comparing a small subwoofer to a large subwoofer, I made a video for that: th-cam.com/video/kJ21aj9voMc/w-d-xo.html as far as what I would choose the simple answer is both and I own both so I'm not avoiding the question, that is my honest answer.

Thanks Nemo!
If you are building a theater I think measurements will be very improtant for time alignment since there are so many speakers involved but I only focus on 2 or 2.1 channel.
what do you think about this vs the S/812
And by that I mean future in mind, and eventually choosing 6 of these. 6 predators or 6 S/812 would you commit to?
Hi Sammy, due to the significant invenstment and my lack of experience with subwoofer arrays I suggest you reach out to REL directly for this question.

As always Nemo, I and many others greatly appreciate the work that you put into your videos and reviews. Definitely miss it when you don't do the item comparisons. Was curious as to how this sub compared to the Svs 3000 or 4000.

Any thoughts on cross shopping this and the Kef KF92? Both seem pretty brilliant. Thanks!
from my discord: The KF92 is always going to come down to this: if it's output is sufficient for the room it's hard to find a better theater sub regardless of the size.

How would subwoofer compare to a svs sb3000
SB3000 is very small compared to this, it cannot compete. Predator is better at everything.
Some of my favorite subs sounded downright awful in their first few hours.

both are excellent SQ subwoofers, the E15hp2 will extend a bit lower and be a little bit more composed while the 1510 will play a little more agressively with its initial bass attack.
@@seano218 yeah its usually like this, the internet makes issues seem more common than they are. Usually if someone's experience is poor they will talk about it but if their experience is positive they don't talk about it as much so the internet gets filled with more complaints/issues than not so it gives the illusion that there are more problems.... Kind of like how the news works :).
Question: when you say "hot" at what volume level (on the subs) do you typically set them at?
Hey ben, I'm not sure what units of measure I can use to answer this question.
Soo…. 50/50 HT & music in an open concept living room would you go with 1510 or JL E112. ? Thank you!
Don't know about the JL but the 1508 that I am using is very good for movies and movies.
I have not heard the E112 but I can for sure recommend the 1510 easily for your needs.
Hi there...for home theater purposes only, how does this 1510 compare to the rythmik e15HP2?thx,much appreciated.
bother are excellent subwoofers, the E15hp2 will extend a bit lower and be a little bit more composed while the 1510 will play a little more agressively with its initial bass attack. I like both a lot.
STILL wondering what the 1510 does compared to S/510 and S/812 subs 😊
The 1510 do not have the hi level connections or the fancy paint job..
@@chrissheldrick4073 Performance wise ofc, not connections or looks...
I already got two S/510s for hifi with high-levels. Wondering to use these for HT or buy more S/510s
Honest question, what other notable subwoofer manufacturers don't use dsp? Thanks for the video Nemo.
Rythmik is one.
@@Bob-Fields I assumed that the peq would be in the digital domain? Good to know though.
@@JosephTongret My guess is it's analog since it has to be dialed in. To be honest, I don't know for sure since I don't use that feature. I have 2 E15 subs and just set the Xover at about 70hz and it was all good.
Just REL and Rythmik as far as I know but I'm sure there are more.
Hi, when you say run them hot do you mean running level and crossover high?
gain aka volume.
@@NemoPropaganda oh ok 👍
Damn, didn’t you just talk about getting the special 40s. Really liked those speakers.
Yeah, I got the Special 40’s :)
How does the 1510 compare to the KF92? 🤔
Which is better for a music first system, this or the E15HP2?
I'd consider them equally as good just slightly different sound. I'd grab whichever one fits your aesthetic preferences as that's the biggest difference.
@@NemoPropaganda WOW, that’s impressive given the praise you gave the E15HP2. Appreciate the feedback and review!
@@deankim6687 yeah they both knocked it out of the park. The 15hp2 extends lower, I don't know which one plays louder though I will say the 1510 had a heavier presentation that wasn't afraid to get your attention while the E15 is more like the REL T9X and is enhancing the experience and has better handling of delicate passages. Both E15 and HT1510 are capable of rattling windows, they just do it in a different way.
@@NemoPropaganda E15 sounds like the better sub for me. It also has a smaller footprint and looks better aesthetically to me. Thanks!
@@deankim6687 do it!!!! You won't regret it :)
Hi Nemo what is ur take on e15 vs the Rel 1508. I am looking for performance in terms of how well it integrates and mid bass articulation.
I have not heard the 1508, only the 1510.
@@NemoPropaganda Thanks 👍
They don't use a DSP, but they surely use an EQ to bring the bass up below 35 Hz to get a smooth roll off.
It doesn't interfere with the fidelity as much as an actual DSP though and Rel doesn't overdo it as far as I can tell from specs
I won't pretend to understand the ins & outs, I only know there is no digital processing of the signal but of course there must be some kind of analog processing or we wouldn't be able to adjust phase, gain, or freq.
Yup, T/9x is more to the music side. How about the S/812?
I havn't heard any of the S subs yet.
@@NemoPropaganda can't wait on your next video to try them up 👍
How is it compared to The arendal 1723 1s sub then?.
I will make a separate video for comparisons. 1723 1S is a very good sub though. If you have the extra money for the Predator the larger driver does give it an advantage but both are excellent options for their price.
Looking forward to that one. I use the arendal 1s and wonder if a change to the rel 1508 would be an improvement for music/movies 70:30.
@@megrey6926 You will have much more bass power available but unless your room is larger the 1961 is a very good sub. Actually sounds a little similar to the 1510, kind of like a baby version.
@@NemoPropaganda thank you for your reply. I was unclear, sorry. I have dual 1723 1s. I'm not looking for any more output but rather for better speed/nuance for music. The 1723 1s quite good in that department, but my speakers are very fast and dynamic. At the same I don't want to take a step back in terms of extention for movies.
@@megrey6926 I think you should keep what you have. The 1723 1S is fantastic and plays incredibly clean for music and movies. I don't think the 1510 will be a big upgrade for you bro. It certainly is among the fastest 15" I've heard but the Arendal 1723 1S isn't slow by any means. REL is popular though so you should be able to demo one at a local dealer. I would do that first but I think you will come to the same conclusion.
I'd love to own a line array of these but with a shared wall townhome, products with naming conventions that include predator, sledge, or have the initials JL are just not in my cards right now. Unfortunate, but I do have a pair of t7x for that rel love
How do those T7X work in a townhouse? You get decent SPL without worry?
@@Audfile sort of. They don't defy any physical laws so you could definitely still bother the neighbors depending on volume and music genre, but you've all but deleted the bottom octave (-6dB at 30Hz according to spec) so if you do have content that's going down there you get more of a hint of it rather than shaking glass panes in windows.
What bass content that is there reminds me more of a premium 'full-range' floorstander. It's quick and textured and satisfying but never seems to bloom or bloat.
I run them stereo and haven't measured their in-room (yet) or tried running them dual mono.. minidsp and mic are forthcoming experiments.
@@erics.4113 thanks for that good info!
@Nemo Propaganda, what are your thoughts on stereo HT/1510s vs stereo S/812s, underpinning Martin Logan Aerius i's, for a system that is dual-purpose for movies and music.
I have not heard the S812 so I couldn't really say but i think you'd be very happy with a pair of predators.
Thanks,@@NemoPropaganda. Your feedback was instrumental and led me to purchase my first REL, the HT/1205 MKI, in 2021.
@@caballerosuave excellent choice! I'm happy I was helpful :)
You don't make it easy trying to upgrade to a bigger sub bruh lol. I have 2 SVS SB13 Ultra's up front which are pretty damm good . I had the PB Ultra's before them and I do miss the extra slam they had but I love streaming music too. Been thinking about Rythmik 15's you recently reviewed and now I see these REL's...FML ! So how about a best all around 15' sub shoot out for around $1k-ish
Hey Ben, hope this helps: 1510 has a heavier tone and sounds strong. E15hp2 is more coming fromt the ink black background to enhance the entire experience. I don't know which one plays louder but the E15 extends lower.
@@NemoPropaganda much appreciated . Thx 👍🏽
Ok 1510 or E15HP2 and go!!
a comparison is available in the discord.
Why do people think rattling windows is a good thing? All it does is put horrible noise into your sound stage. 😦 😆🤣 More punch, less rattle please!
I don't think I said I enjoy the sound of rattling windows my bro.
@@NemoPropagandaSo you wouldn't recommend the PII if it rattles the windows then? 🤣🤣
@@NemoPropaganda I appreciate the input, thank you sir.
so 2 12" or 1 15"?
tough question brother, depends on your goals and what subwoofers you're talking about.

Nemo, really appreciate your videos. Especially how you get into the details of speaker performance. With that said, in your subwoofer reviews you haven't included a Klipsch model. What are the chances of you reviewing the C-310ASWI or their top 12" or 15" sub. ✌🏽
The Klipsch brand has never gotten my attention but if they offered me a review sample I would for sure be happy to review one of their subwoofers.
@@NemoPropaganda🤞🏼 I think that's what they're missing in their line up. I've owned 2 of them over the years. Pretty good with music and "okay" in H.T. They just don't hit below 25hz hard enough for my liking.

Unobtanium
Hi Nemo, sorry mate but I like it best when you make more comparisons🫣🤭. How's does it stand up against an E15?
That and more comparisons are listed in the nemo-faq section of my free discord, link is in the description of all my videos.
Would you say that the HT1205 MKII is better for music due to having a smaller 12inch driver?
No, the 1510 is just as quick as the smaller models.
