    Great success! Did exactly as you suggested and problem solved. Fortunately it was only jammed with no broken gears. Thanks.

    My ball and chain advised me yesterday that there is no heat coming out at the floor, just upper vents. But while I am at it, need to fix the clicking issue. So thanks for the vids again. You pointed me in the right direction to replace back hatch wiring harness solved all the issues with door locks and lights including stuff operated via drivers door. You helped me nail that Bro , Thanks.

    Great video to diagnose and understand what needs to come out. I really could have used another arm joint to make the bend in my arm to unscrew this thing. The suggestion of using the 1/4" socket was great. I still had some struggle, so ended up taking my 1/4" socket plus #2 philips and using tape to make an even stubbier stuby philips. That, plus about an hour of grunting, cursing, sweating, and almost pooping myself and it's fixed!
    If it ever breaks again I am going to get it into the recirculate position and then unplug it. F' that. Never again.
    Good luck to all of you that follow ...seriously consider if recirc vs fresh is worth this pain.

    Very helpful!! Do you think there is a correlation between hearing this noise and not having heat in the front but having heat in the rear? Would doing this fix help fix that as well?

    • @ArchesMechanic
      @ArchesMechanic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most likely your heater core in the front is clogged. It is possible that the door isn’t allowing hot air through but more often than not the heater core gets clogged on these. I’ve replaced mine. Unfortunately no video but I’ve seen other videos on how to do it the cheap way.

    Nice video, This type of stuff should be a zero issues with Automobiles. Honestly shame on the auto companies for designing poor components into many systems. They should be and will be called out on these issues. They need to do it correctly the first time. Quite honestly it is getting stupid with tech that should work for 50 years and works for 5 or ten. I'd rather have a cable than a motor if it cannot be reliable over time. It's obvious it cannot.. You were lucky as it was an easy one to change out; many are not. Not Nuclear here .. The auto industry just needs to get it act together. I do also realize this will not happen.

      Engine wise Ford has always in my view been the best. I'm not happy with Ford right not but they still have the edge although ever so slightly in my opinion. I currently have a Ford Escape in which many systems do not work correctly, company car. Just me but I would not touch a German made Automobile. Diesel gate to start; beyond that Mercedes seems to hold the same value as a Chevrolet the same year or after a couple of years. I have invested in Hyundai two Elantra's 2010 and 2014 so far Excellent. 2010 needed normal brake work but other than that nice car. 2014 will need minor work this year. For the short term Korea is the place to buy a car.

    My 2010 has been doing this awhile. Doesn’t blow much air even on highest setting. I’m also losing a lot of coolant from underneath. Do you think it’s all linked?

    • @ArchesMechanic
      @ArchesMechanic  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Baz Bakir definitely yes. The heater core is about the highest spot in the cooling system. Air blows past that and warms it, warming the cabin. If coolant level is low it cannot heat up the heater core and the wont heat

      LM you don’t have to fix it if you don’t want to. Also I put my hand in there and felt which one was making the clicking louder/harder. If you can’t determine which one it is...unplug one at a time. If it stops...that’s the one that needs replaced. In my case the drivers side had hot air from the heater and passenger side didn’t.

    • @wintergirl8
      @wintergirl8 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LM-fg8mx mine just started doing this, and it sometimes even does it when the vehicle is not running. I understand from reading up on it elsewhere that it will eventually drain your battery if your car sits for a while. And you should be able to tell which one it is if you take the glove box out and start the car. Mine starts the clicking within a few seconds of starting, stops when I hit the air circulation button, and starts up again if I hit the button again. Might be worthwhile disconnecting the bad one until you get the part and get it replaced. That's my plan!

    If you don't have the "right" tool for this job it can be the biggest pain in the ass. I'm 6'4"and not nimble by any means and got bricks for hands and it was also a pain in the ass to find a good position to be in where I could get to the screws without bending my arms into pretzels. I eventually had to go in through the driver's side and essentially lay across into the passengers side with my left leg over top of the steering wheel and my left arm on the dash holding myself up all because I didn't have the proper tool otherwise it would've been much easier. The saying there's a proper tool for every job is 100% correct. Lmao.
