Angel Man changed the men’s fragrance landscape , it was that innovative . I used up at least 2 or 3 bottles until I noticed it was being reformulated some 15 years ago .

I feel like they respected the original more with the flankers when he was alive. Now he's gone, anything goes
I have been stocking up on older perfume bottles that I find in stores. Even ones that I didnt particularly like because I have realised that the quality of perfumes was so much better years ago. I am beginning to not just like some of them but love many fragrances I dilsiked back in the day....maybe simply because the smell of good quality ingredients. They perform and most are non linear and very interesting even if the smell may not have been an initial favorite. Yep...thats what I have had to resort to. But I must admit...its satisfying when I find old bottles that no one is interesting in purchasing. I have even gotten gems free of cost as the average retailer dont have a clue that old perfume bottles are greatly desired by some of us! I found an old dusty bottle of the very original Angel Men in a little shop recently and it was sold to me for cost of a new bottle of Nautica Voyage! Lol. Yep!!!! That pretty much made my year if not my decade given that the original Amen is for me the greatest deigner frgarance ever made.

Hey, can you clarify something for me please? What do you mean by "amberwoody"? Are you talking about the modern type warm sweet scent profiles sort of like Stronger with You flankers, Azzaro Wanted flankers, 1 million flankers etc? Or is it something more specific, like a note or combo of notes? Just wanna know if we are on the same page because those type of scents bore and dissapoint me too. Thank you!
To me, amberwood is that dry woody dark material used in A LOT of modern perfumes including the ones you mentioned there. It's the chemical with the enormous throw and longevity, you smell it everywhere. A lot of them were used in "oud" perfumes
There's an ingredient commonly used called Boisambrene Forte which is also known as "Amberwood". The main culprit, though, is Akigalawood (an ambery woody synthetic which is sometimes called "Modernized" Patchouli).
Part of me truly wonders whether or not it's just a game of "hide our bankruptcy." Criminal greed might not be the only culprit. With active perception management (influencing) on social media now the norm, taking advantage of naive buyers seems like a standard business practice. And with standards now falling like an asteroid toward earth, the game of "they'll buy anything no matter how sh** it is" might even be an act of desperation. We no buy, they no survive.
That'd always be true regardless of previous situation though. If everything stopped buying Chanel, they'd go under pretty quickly too

I understand you liked it alot. But there was no need calling out Les Indemodables and saying that they have no way near as high grade materials as L’Oréal.

So I've now seen 2 separate reviews for this, and they both have 2 polar opposite opinions. I don't know where this one is gonna fall for me 🤷🏾♂️.
TM Amen is my all-time favorite fragrance, and I've been waiting for this release for what seems like forever.
The other review said it smells like Chocolate Greedy x The Scent: Private Accord. So the only downside to that is that I already own Chocolate Greedy, so it might be a redundant purchase.
This could be right up my gourmand worshiping alley tho
To me it's nothing like the original amen. Smells like they betrayed it, gutted it and stuffed it with cheap materials that are now the new normal in designer perfume.
@RichMitch I feel you on that, but, for one group of 'Pure Line' lovers, if it smelled totally like anything else in the line, people would have been screaming, " DERIVITIVE!"
"REDUNDANT RELEASE!" "LAZY CASH GRAB!" "LEGACY DESTROYED!" and if it strayed too far from the church of AMEN, then it would've been, "THEY BUTCHERED AMEN!" "THIS HAS ABSOLUTELY ZERO AMEN DNA!" "THIS SHOULD'VE CAME IN A BRAND NEW BOTTLE!" 😅😅
I kinda sympathize with the brands for sometimes not knowing how to please us. 🤷🏾♂️

Kryptomint was the last true Mugler, thrilling mint on tones of patchouli and geranium with vanilla . The Ultimate has immediately revealed to me that is just a flanker of bad boys vips and Invctuses, so it was hards pass. And now you.. I’m not event anticipate Fantasm anymore.
This one is a hard pass for me. Awful
Naw Pure Tonka was the last true Mugler. Kryptomint was just ok.
£105 no thanks I’ll wait for tkmax £35. Oh and the new Prada ocean parfum is….120.00.

One wonders whether those at L'Oreal actually understand perfume let alone actually wear it themselves. I'm guessing that they do not and thus all these brands are ruined.
Never known a brand to move to L'Oréal and not get butchered
@@carminemnz Sauvage is a big hit but it isn't very good perfume.
L'Oréal may be able (very rarely) to make decent stuff from scratch but their reformulations of other's work is woeful imo

We know reformulations happen it's just that L'Oréal's reformulations are incredibly poor. Look what they did to the Prada line up. People are scrambling for Puig version now that L'Oréal have had the licence since January '22.

Some (likely crazy) people on Fragrantica are comparing it to the marvelous L’Instant de Guerlain Pour Homme. From your description, doesn’t sound like they’re even on the same planet.

Totally agree with the last part mate. The A men line is legendary & the reason I got into fragrances properly back in 2015 I remember buying pure malt at house of fraser & that day I became a frag head. I'm not surprised this turned out to be shite most new releases are.

Gotta speak true. Perfume reviews on TH-cam are all glowing and positive and it skews the balance, negative reviews are at a premium these days as is honesty
