If they got those live from a creator to whom they themselves gave a platform and some benefits - my guess is, they'd do something about it. As they would if the death threats were coming from ingame accounts not anonymous posts and emails.
@Daniel Flores You must be new to league lol. You’ve never heard Tyler talk about Phreak? A riot employee? Or any of the streamers talk about Jatt when he joined the balance team? Or anything XJ9 said about Tryndamere back in the day? This exact stuff and much much worse happens towards riot employees everyday.
@Daniel Flores I watched Tyler call Phreak a bald r**ard on more than one occasion. I watched other people make fun of him for dating a 🌽 ⭐️. And XJ9 didn’t get banned until he leaked his GF’s 📸 for playing Lee Sin lmao. That’s how far you have to go as a league content creator. I’m not going to try to censor the other stuff Tyler or XJ9 or Tarzan said but look it up I’m sure you can find it.

How does no one see anything wrong with this? Also, the guy should be refunded every penny spent then. You cant steal from someone cuz he called you a retard. This is a lawsuit in America 100%
37:03 actually he has been permanently banned as a person, he is not allowed to make a new account they will ban those too, initially he got a message he could make a new account but he received clarification later that this was not the case and any accounts he would make would be banned.
I thin pathofmathh is right with his criticism but then on the other hand he is such a sheep for still playing. If you don’t agree with the direction of the game stop fucking playing it and do some else. Sheep will always just hang in complain about everything but not take action. Player numbers are mostly inflated by little complainers. If they all stop playing and Poe sits at 20k players they will probably make the game fun again by tomorrow
Clearly nothing about him is grown. I would assume he’s spent countless hours locked in a room playing video games. Nothing about that makes him a man.
I don't agree. If he was tweeting at Chris, or emailing him, or actually interacting with him in some way and saying that shit to him, then fine, that's harassment. But he's not, he's on his own stream saying this. That's not harassment. Should he have said that? No, 100% not, and it was wrong of him to say that. But none of this sounds like harassment.
Yeah I agree with exactly what you just said and that's what makes it a problem. I could care less if all the platforms that he was running his mouth on banned him but the fact that they just banned his account that he spent thousands of dollars on and then send him something saying he can make a new account that just sounds like a butt hurt Dev swinging his cock around to me

I have autistic traits, albeit I've never been diagnosed, and I know full well that you don't just insult people. It disgusts me when people treat autistic people like children that need coddling. Sure, they may not have an innate sense of what is publicly appropriate, but you can LEARN these boundaries. If you study normal people, you can learn what is and isn't okay to do. It is a struggle, to be sure, and one that was hard for me, but I did learn it, and it has served me well.
Many autistic people actually have a very strong sense of justice that may paradoxically get them into trouble, when they have to face this world that is sometimes far from being just and perfect.
I'm unsure if I am autistic or not, though some have said I may be, but I do know I have autistic friends. They definitely aren't children that need coddling, honestly the best thing you can do for them is to treat them no differently than what you would any other friend.

He way overstepped. POE are making a stand using pathofmath as an example since he’s one of the leading toxic streamers. Math had 2 strikes and still pushed his luck. These toxic people also put a strain between the community and the devs
Did he actually target that harassment in game? If not, then I think PoE overstepped and I think this cross platform banning is something everyone should be concerned about. Wouldn't surprise me if he was an a-hole in game too, however I still think it's up to platforms to take action eg Twitch suspension/ban. The whole "freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from consequences" BS is just promoting an authoritarian society built on a social credit score. Dude clearly needs to chill, but it's none of PoE's business what someone says about them elsewhere. I find it hard to believe that there are many people who haven't vented, it's just most people thankfully don't do it in front of the whole world. Maybe I missed something, but really think about what you're really doing if anyone reading this supports the ban. Society is increasingly recording your actions. Do you really want to be punished because somewhere you offloaded too much? The implications go way too far for my liking. Eventually it will be possible to get rid of people who have anything remotely negative to say about your business which would give an unrealistic representation of your product or services.
Kind of different when youre a streamer and use to be represented on path of exiles website (they were throwing a bone to the 0 viewer andys)...and then not even a year later get banned for target staff harassment..and then a 2nd ban...and then a 3rd ban

I think, and I might be mistaken, if it was directed aimlessly, it would have passed as a temper tantrum and the platform to take action here would have been maybe twitch for vulgarity and using the R word. But since it was directed at a specific person, that was a personal verbal attack. He's not a child, he's a grown ass man who insulted a person specifically. Childish as it may be, if it were my game and if one of my staff members, let alone myself, was specifically verbally attacked publicly I would insta ban this person from my establishment (may it be game, restaurant, office, it doesn't matter). He made a decision to verbally attack, applied action and verbally attacked, and actions have consequences and he got himself a perma ban. Seems justified to me. I could be wrong and speaking from bias though.

Wait so Asmon wont call anyone autistic because he doesnt like using medical diagnosis as an insult, but is fine with calling people spergs? Sperg is just a derogatory insult for people with aspergers. Just because he thinks most people dont know where the word comes from or that the word evolved is irrelevant...
I agree, if you follow that logic everyone can say what they want and get away with it playing all dumb, that sounds pretty unreasonable. If people (can) know what asperger is (like, by googling a second) then the same goes for "sperg".
"It's OK when asmon does it." That's literally the logic he uses, it's OK when he does it because it's a joke of "part of my persona", when other people do it then it's threatening and abuse.
Because when you hear the word autism nowadays most people think of the ones being born with a physical defect, instead of an emotional or social defect. also 1 I haven’t seen asmon use it recently and 2 I don’t think anyone (even asmon) in this time and age know what it means he probably remembers a lot of people saying it and started using it as well and 3 Asperger’s sounds like an invented autism for attention seekers trynna identify as an autist to defend themselves cause shit I know 99% of my friends have at least one or 5 of the symptoms described under Asperger
As an outsider to this, I think the ban was a mistake. Yes this guy is toxic, but he is just vocalizing criticisms in a toxic way. I don't really see anything ban worthy for calling game developers a bad word. I actually think it sets a pretty bad precedent where game devs can simply ban people who have opinions they don't like and deem toxic. Ngl, this much drama around PoE is kind of unexpected, on average the player base has been pretty happy. It's wild how quickly the devs have shit the bed.
It's been a downward spiral since 3.15. I quit after harvest personally because I saw the trajectory they were going after how they commented on harvests "impact", aka they completely misunderstood the point.
I dont play the game and pay almost zero attention to it but from what I've seen recently online no one is happy with this game except maybe a few select people

"Sperg" is definitely short for "asperger's". It's just said by a lot these days, some people say it as a replacement instead of calling people retards or gay, since those insults are commonly frowned upon and sperg is less known. Sometimes I question myself if I even have the syndrom, even though I've been diagnosed with it, and this confussion is partially because when it's being used as an insult I'd rather just not think that I have it, and often not say that I have it, to avoid giving ammunition to toxic people, and to not feel that I'm some person who deserves to be insulted.
Don't worry about the toxic people using a diagnosis as a slur. Just by your comment here, I can tell that you're not what these people mean, when they use "sperg". They would just a likely use race, gender, or sexuality as a slur. It has more to do with their own insecurities and feelings of inadequacy, than anything else.
When someone says retard or sperg believe me we are NOT trying to insulting diagnosed people when we say it so you shouldn't feel that way. It's just an insult like any other, I just think it's a funny word 🤷♂️
Path of Math has always been a positive figure in the Poe community, sure his phrasing isn't the best but he means well. He just gets shit handed to him by so many other people who are haters and to top it off the league being in the state that it was during release (still is) Kinda makes sense with the meltdown. He did deserve a ban but not an id ban.

Hes making insane comments about a bald guy, while streaming the game is shitting on - would never take this guy seriously - No thinking behind his comments, ofc devs want to make the game fun for there playerbase.. atleast a bunch of people working for gaming companis got the job because they have a passion to make something fun for others.
Bad take and bad precedent to set and be OK with. Should not be ok with people being banned for things outside of the ToS and outside of the realm of property. Would have been much better to just deny streaming rights for their products and deny revenue through content creation of said product. Or register complaints through Twitch to see if their terms of service were violated for target harassment. The punishment doesn't concern me it's the abuse of power through the wrong means that does. This could have been Asmongold a few years back especially during WoD. If blizzard would have done this to him back then he wouldn't be nowhere near where he is now and that's a scary thought. Silencing people and denying them for actions or statements outside of their realm of control just because they don't like the person or what they say.

Yep. Asmon loves to tell people to not watch the content if you don't like it. The PoE guys could ignore this guy when he's on Twitch but nope, he insulted me gotta take him down. Ban him in PoE for what he said on another platform. It's a double standard.
As much as I agree with this. Gotta take a moment we're so far in that it's all gotta be broken down. Tone 100% sets the pace for how things will play out.
While I don't agree with PoM's attitude and way he went about things, it's amazing the overall double standard in the Asmongold community seeing 99% of people here crucify PoM, when Asmongold in the past has done similar things with his followers cheering him on. Hypocrisy is strong in this video.
In general, I agree with the ban, as long as it's temp. Things should be taken in the context, in this case Matt has: - enriched the community with multiple great (free) tools (external, excel based mostly) to assess the best ways of making wealth - had shone light in the past onto various borderline legal (vs TOS) practices, which were ethically dubious (and got removed from game afterwards, whether his activity in any way impacted that is not known, I think) - has created many many videos where he shared his thought processes, how he tries to understand and optimize his playing and crafting (those were very helpful to me and other people for our knowledge building abilities) In the end, PoE is a game about knowledge, much more so than skill. And this knowledge lives and spreads in the community, to large extent with content creators. Matt has contributed greatly to that. His current behavior was very emotional, but I also understand the reasons for why his emotions are running so high. The current patch destroyed extreme-high-end crafting (and did so without any explanation on the why). Matt has in the past created some of the best items in the game, mostly for fun of doing so. Those items had then been mirrored many many times. The ultimate chase item in PoE is the Mirror of Kalandra, which allows to create a copy of an item. Without crazy people making crazy items (not bugged, just crazy good), there will be nothing to copy. The current release took away what he loves the most about the game and removed it entirely. So he's very pissed off. He got personal, so he got banned. Taking the entire context into account, I hope he gets his ban removed some time in the future, and he continues to contribute to the community.
Asmon has talked shit about wow Devs for years. Kinda made me mad listening to this. He did have some good points tho I feel like a temporary ban may have been sufficient for this.
13:04 This, 100%. The reason that GGG make nerfs/buffs to things in the game is because THEY THINK it will help a broader group of players. They're not doing it maliciously, there is exactly a 0.00% chance that they are nerfing things to make people upset or fuck anyone over; that is not conducive in any way to retaining a player base, or making your concurrent players happy. Do they fuck up? Absolutely. Is it something that they've done in the past and worked on/corrected? More often than not. I'm not here to shill for GGG, but saying there are things you dislike or even hate about the game is fine; while using ad-hominem attacks on a specific staff member is not. You can criticize their design choices, or tell them you dislike how they handled a particular patch, but attacking things outside of the game itself is childish and INCREDIBLY unhelpful.
BTW. He also mentioned Empyrian in his Tweet and the response he got from him is "Yo don't bring me into this lol" XD It says much about how community doesn't want to have anything to do with him.
Thank you for the investigative journalism Zack. I saw some fans of him defending him in game and almost agreed with them because tone policing cross platform is bad. But with all this context Matth 110% earned it. Keep it up baldy.

I don't need any of you standing up for me against benign language, and I've told people to stop sperging out myself.
I've also been told that "aspie" is offensive in the same way, but again it's only offensive when put in a context that implies that having asperger's is the problem and not the behavior on display. If it's clear that they're simply trying to refer to outburst behavior then I don't think it's helpful to get worked up and confrontational over it.
@@damon2085 If I say a person angrily acting out is "sperging out" then everyone understands that I'm referring to their outburst behavior. If I instead say that "they have asperger's" I'm now implying that simply having the condition is the problem, and that is obviously far worse.
Dude it's not like this guy went to the developers house or track them down in a bar. They probably dont even watch his content so why even bat an eyelash? Gotta disagree with your take. You show up in someones stream & it turns out they dont like you, so you get them banned? Nah that's dumb.
I dunno if I was a game dev and some dude was making a living because of my game while at the same time calling me retarded all day I'd ban aswell. Dont bite the hand that feeds.
@@RuecianGray That's also beta energy. People need to grow a thicker skin. If the block feature isn't a enough its a personal problem and your personal problem is yours & yours alone.
I dunno. For me, for actual harassment to occur the one being harassed has to be part of a conversation. This doesn't seem to have occurred. When a streamer or TH-camr gets banned for talking about the things happening in the game... that is critique and the expression of anger and/or annoyance, not harassment. To get bothered by this just shows a lack of maturity.
Asmon has a point in not making it personal. But Chris Wilson is the face of the game. He _is_ Path of Exile. In terms of criticizing and being angry with the game name-calling and raging about the state of the game and aiming it at the one person that represents the game isn't harassment to me. If any degree of a threat is made _that_ is a bannable offense. But yelling and screaming and name-calling and intellectual insults are nothing. To me, that is just blowing off steam.
I agree. It's not like Chris was watching the stream and the guy insulted him right there. Banning someone just for talking sht behind your back that is kinda childish. But so is talking like that, so eh, whatever.
I thank heaven every day that I grew up in a time period when widespread streaming/vlogging wasn't really a thing. I shudder to think of the shit I would have said when I was in my teens and early 20's. It's rough for you youngsters coming up today. This was mild compared to the kind of garbage we used to say to each other and even to our teachers/parents/etc.
@@smenkinsa I am? ... I wish! I'm 41. Old enough to remember a time before the "internet" (as we know it), but young up to have grown up with the early mass adoption of the internet. When I was a teen, and into my early 20's, the internet as we know it now wasn't really what it is today. YT was just emerging as something beyond funny cat videos and "vlogging" was a new thing. Streaming wasn't really a thing in the late 90's or even early 2000's. Tom Green was one of the first major people I can think of who actually tapped into the potential of livestreaming with his webovision (doing a show live from his living room, including often laggy and hilarious Skype video calls from viewers). It was a totally different time and a totally different net. People who grew up always online, with phones and tablets from the time they were kids can't grasp how unfiltered people were around your friends. Most streamers now, even those that speak pretty freely, are still really tame and careful compared to the shit a teen or young adult from the 90's would possibly say.
@@smenkinsa oh my bad if you meant the dude that got banned, or even asmongold, I understand... but 30 is a lot different then 40. 40 was born in the early 80's, literally a teeanger when widespread dialup (normally AOL) was a thing. People who are 30 grew up with all of that already done and established and were seeing the birth and growth of things like YT, twitter, reddit, etc.
The reason I personally think this ban looks shady to some people is because of how bad the league is. To some, this will look like an attempt to silence a critic. When someone like Chris comes out in a letter and personally accepts responsibility for the whole thing, he opens himself up to personal critic. I do think he went too far and personally attacked him, but I do think it also looks shitty on POE dev's part too.
Chris Wilson is not lead developer since like idk 2014 hes the managing director he even spoke at length many many times about the stuff he personally worked on like "Hard Mode" and Talisman which people meme on him for. People are using him as an outlet to vent frustrations on which isnt fair especially considering his scope of involvement with lets say things like balance which last I checked that was GGG Qarl. Some of the changes do seem tone death but unless its constructive criticism I dont see any of the rage being helpful in improving the game or fixing the issues it has. Some people are just heavy monetizing rage bait.

Harassment isn't subjective, trash talk and harassment are two different things, if you're going to someone's else's social media or contacting them in some way to berate or intimidate them then that's harassment, talking shit on your own time to people who have nothing to do with it isn't harassment.
Harassment is when you seek out an individual. Just because you talk shit doesn't mean it's harassment regardless of whether or not you do it on some type of platform in front of however many people. If I said "ohh that guy is a piece of shit" I'm not going to be arrested, a camera and people watching does not change that.
"It's OK when asmon does it."
That's literally the logic he uses, it's OK when he does it because it's a joke of "part of my persona", when other people do it then it's threatening and abuse.

PoE player never go outside... they just change map
lmao too real man
In general, I agree with the ban, as long as it's temp.
Things should be taken in the context, in this case Matt has:
- enriched the community with multiple great (free) tools (external, excel based mostly) to assess the best ways of making wealth
- had shone light in the past onto various borderline legal (vs TOS) practices, which were ethically dubious (and got removed from game afterwards, whether his activity in any way impacted that is not known, I think)
- has created many many videos where he shared his thought processes, how he tries to understand and optimize his playing and crafting (those were very helpful to me and other people for our knowledge building abilities)
In the end, PoE is a game about knowledge, much more so than skill.
He did have some good points tho
I feel like a temporary ban may have been sufficient for this.
13:04
This, 100%.
Reminds me of a lil phrase... "You where f@cking with me, I returned the f@ckening, AND NOW YOU ARE THE ONE WHINING ABOUT IT" 🤣

I don't need any of you standing up for me against benign language, and I've told people to stop sperging out myself.
I've also been told that "aspie" is offensive in the same way, but again it's only offensive when put in a context that implies that having asperger's is the problem and not the behavior on display.

Chris Wilson is not lead developer since like idk 2014 hes the managing director he even spoke at length many many times about the stuff he personally worked on like "Hard Mode" and Talisman which people meme on him for. poe fell from grace a long time ago... i get it this guy is mean... but poe has a bad ego...imoa they kind of deserve some chewing out... but perhaps not to that degree? not sure...
part of me actually wants him to succeed against poe just for the sake of seeing how much damage he can actually manage to do... for entertainment purposes of course...i like drama...
Honestly PathOfMath had this coming for years. Dude had some good videos, some really good info for free on youtube but overall, specially overtime he started getting way out of line.
Even though he has some points for some things he is complaining the way he puts it foward is not the way to go.
GGG is a decent company. I have dealt with their support staffs multiple times and they have been very helpful every single time. They are also very lenient with their bans, so you would have to do something real bad to get one. I don't agree with their decisions but this dude crossed the line for sure on this one lol.
bruh calling someone a bald rard for ruining a game isn't crossing a line
that dev was just thin skinned
Actually GGG crossed a line when they banned someone cross platform for boohoo bad words hurting feelings of dev.
@@YuYuYuna_ yeah they "can" ban you for hurt fee fees but they shouldn't because that comes with the industry
If you don't want criticism make a good game the first time
@@DarmaniLink Theft comes with the industry of owning a shop. You should just let the thieves back in, right?
A child has a chance to be bullied at school, but it just comes with the territory of having a family.
I get the feeling you're a lot softer than you're letting on.
Don't reply to this comment, because it just comes with the industry. You're a hypocrite at best if you respond.
@@christaylor86 Last I checked, you can't be arrested for calling someone an idiot and the person doesn't lose anything other than some fee fees by being called an idiot. Being a prominent game developer is like being a celebrity with more responsibility and more responsibility to deliver a good product because many people have sunk a notable percentage of their life into your product.
If you're in the public eye, you're going to be insulted. You're going to have your appearance mocked, no matter how you look. If you take it and don't give it any attention, then who cares? If you overreact and have a hissy fit about it, it gets blown into the public spotlight.
Like if he wasn't banned nobody would care that some random streamer called some dumb dev a bald rard. You wouldn't care. You wouldn't even know.
And why do people care? Because this isn't a normal reaction to it.
Harassment isn't subjective, trash talk and harassment are two different things, if you're going to someone's else's social media or contacting them in some way to berate or intimidate them then that's harassment, talking shit on your own time to people who have nothing to do with it isn't harassment.
Yes, it isn't subjective. Talking shit on stream about people is definitely harassment.
Harassment is when you seek out an individual. Just because you talk shit doesn't mean it's harassment regardless of whether or not you do it on some type of platform in front of however many people. If I said "ohh that guy is a piece of shit" I'm not going to be arrested, a camera and people watching does not change that. Now if you're following someone around (physically or virtually) and not leaving them alone or actively seeking them out that's a different story.
@@NoName-mi8js You consider any kind of insult harassment don't you?
12:00 Excuse me mr. Asmongold, but do not try to downplay Danuser's role in WoW's downfall. He absolutely ANNIHILATED what was left of the Warcraft lore to such an extent that some people think it was intentional. You can resurrect Tolkien and Miura and they'd probably tell you to just make WoW 2 because nobody can salvage this.
People saying that story doesn't matter and it's all about raid and M+ are wrong!.

He was ID banned. They wont unban him. They said if he makes new account they gonna ban it too. IP ban can be ofc mitigated with VPN. But ID ban makes him not able to stream or create content based on their product, ever. GG, G.
