Another very nice video, Carl, I enjoyed your commentary on how you prepare to put a park on the air in the UK. I really, myself have not put a park on the air, although I have gone to a local park from where I live and found it to be great fun. Thank you for sharing.
Fun things to do during lunch hour. A cup of tea, a quick sandwich, a new park activated. Good all around. This sort of activity keeps you out of trouble.
Nice work guys. I've teetered on the edges of POTA before but got put off by the online argy-bargy and the largely US orientation of it (I take it UK POTA is still connected with the US organisation). Hope it picks up speed. Are activations alerted anywhere? Cheers
Hello Carl. Always enjoy the videos - thanks. I wondered if you could answer few questions (or better still do a video) about POTA. 1) What does 'activation mean? Is activation done just once for a park - or is it per station or per individual? 2) What happens once a park has been activated? 3) What about my Park down the road - can that be eligible? 4) As you can see I'm clueless - an idiots guide would be appreciated! 73 Kevin M0XYM
Great stuff! I'm hoping to activate GW-0088 Conwy RSPB in the Russian DX contest in 10 days or so. (and any other local park in the meantime, I live close to GW-OOO6). 73 GW4OKT
Congratulations and Happy Days :-) You've made it. Well done. Outdoor portable radio in nature is so enjoyable. You really forget about all your other woes. It's a healthy distraction. It's exciting to run pile-ups now. Imagine when we get to the top of the solar cycle ? Pints all round.......
TH-cam automatically tried to add subtitles but they need extra work to perfect. Have you tried the subs that TH-cam provides? I'm sure I've got them on in the background?
Great effort Carl.I don't know why you got 2 👎?? Maybe a good idea to upgrade the coax to Paul's set up as quite a loss on the thin coax at VHF/UHF aerial? 73.Ian G7HFS/PA3IKH
Brilliant, another victory for the 1979! Try it on top of the car (when stationary). I needed to retract about five inches from its total extension to be resonant on 14.180. See my config at: photos.app.goo.gl/JRQ6PfdCrN42Wx7eA

Top job Carl or should I say Paul. I hope to catch you some day on air.
Great job getting the park activated Carl. You are the pioneer for POTA in the UK! Keep it up, it gets easier every time you do it. 73

LOL i thought it was going to be Pubs on the air lol
Nice vid Carl and fresh air during Lunch..no Bannana with ur tea?
I had my banana on the way out 😁
Iam looking for a HF antennae for small spaces, and wondered if you would recommend the MFJ1979?
It's decent for 20m, maybe 17m, I would suggest the DX Commander lite multi band, 40m, 20m, 15m, 10m and 6m.

Well done Carl. What happened to the weather? No rain or snow😉
Yes it certainly wasn't British
Well done 👍
Boom well done CARL! keep at it :)
With subtitles, I could watch this at work with the sound off, don’t know how hard it is to do, just a suggestion

@@M0SZT According to the TH-cam Subs you are running gay, also an MFJ1979 with train rails into the ground lol.
I can walk to that car park in about 15 minutes.
73 DX!
