75 days no gambling, feels amazing! Life really gets better once you cut this horrible habit. If you are reading this and you’re struggling just know it will be okay! I’m rooting for you ❤
im a chinese person who suffers from gambling addiction. i watch your videos with Chinese subtitles on. i quit gambling because of you. i have been clean for a month. thank you for making a man‘s life better across the Pacific ocean. i use translation app to write this sentence haha
I just came back from South Dakota! Our daughter is a travel xray tech and is working there. We went to visit her and before we arrived she told about all the casinos around. Knowing I’m in recovery from gambling she gave me the heads up! With my husband and daughter to help me I never gambled while there! The slot parlor literally was a block away from us! I can say I didn’t gamble and I’m going on my fourth month!!! With help from my family and my friends I’m doing very well!!! I’ve learned a lot from this channel ! It really helps me!!! Thank you Rob! ❤
I paid my cell bill, however, they haven't deducted the amount from my savings account yet. I thought of going and getting the money and gamble with it. I was scrolling and ran across this post at the same exact time of thinking of doing it. I'm glad I didn't follow through.
I really enjoyed your guest today. Such a good story teller, caring, down to earth, reasonable, upfront person. I am rooting for you and hope you legal issues can get resolved. Stay strong.
Your guest is very brave putting his story openly for people to watch. I know a few people in trouble with gambling. It seems to be getting worse and more wide spread where I am.
gambling is not between you and slots....it between you and devil... never cry.. and never think hurting yourself... you are much smarter then devil.. so take him down.... not yourself..... only thing is take control of yourself... you can....if you really want it..
It appears that he was sentenced to one day in prison, supervised release, restitution, and monetary penalties. Hopefully he makes the best of this situation
This is one of the most touching, “realest” videos I have watched thus far! You have really blessed me as I’ve come clean with some of my love ones after self excluding myself a few weeks ago. I am working very hard to rebuild and I feel really good about my decision!😊 You keep up the good work! ODAAT
I wish I could take back these 2 years and I have lost everything due to gambling. I can’t believe I’m gonna have to file bankruptcy and try to start over.
Sucks to hear that dude hasn’t gambled in over 400 days, and yet he’s still facing legal consequences for his actions. I hope he gets through those charges because it seems like he’s a truly recovered addict, and could help a lot of others with that same addiction.
Looks like he caught a break with a sentence of only one day in prison, 4 years of supervised release and financial restitution. Not trying to minimize the situation, but he only appears to have embezzled $21K and it was probably his first criminal offense so the punishment appears to be pretty much in line with the circumstances. Hopefully he takes this 2nd chance opportunity to get things turned around. www.justice.gov/usao-sd/pr/brandon-man-sentenced-bank-embezzlement
I knew a guy from university and the racetrack who did the same thing to the tune of $350,000 back around 1980. He worked for a brokerage firm. He was going to quote borrow the money to make a lot of money and then put it all back. It never worked out that way. His name was John Christoff whom I nicknamed potato head. He was going bald in his early twenties. He did 3 years in the slammer.
This tale reminds me of the life's story of O. Henry, one of America's greatest writers ... he also had been a Bank Teller, and the temptation of seeing all that money pass through his hands (and never having enough for himself) ... he took some of the cash, and was sent to prison ... writing saved him ...
I’m a high stakes gambler, but after being ahead on slots for the year, I won’t be back to a casino any time soon. As a gambler I have channeled my addiction into investing in the stock market. This has made me a very wealthy man, but has also taught me not to take money for granted, I worked hard to get to where I am. I don’t want to go lose it in some casino. I once saw a young man at a casino decades ago, leaning on a column at Caesar’s Place, just sobbing with his arms folded in front of his eyes. I always think of that moment and vowed never to get to that point. Maybe that memory keeps me in check.
Rob, do you ever protest this gambling scam out on the streets? In some states gambling is NOT LEGAL. It will be tough to make gambling illegal again in some states because of the money involved and the power that the gambling companies and media have
Yup that first win is a curse. I remember having my first one in a slot machine bar. It was a couple of bills I was 18 at the time. I told my luck for a whole month I felt unstoppable. Then I hit the lose streak n that change everything :(

Rob, can you do a report on WHO creates opening odds and lines? And how are lines and odds created during Live bets? I have seen many inflated and high lines
Can I come on your show? I’ve lost nearly $50k over the last 2 years. My gambling addiction started when I became a table games dealer. I lost everything and currently in the process of rebuilding
Absolutely! But only if you think it’s helpful for your own recovery so early on :) if not, i’d love to chat once you get some more time clean. Shoot me an email rob@odaatrecovery.com
I lost a job because of stealing. Then months later, I robbed that same company for a few thousand to cover my bills. I was on the brink of suicide multiple times. I've learned to gamble and still function. I pay bills first then blow through the rest. It sucks. No savings. No future plans. My fiancee' knows I gamble and I can see it's wearing her down. With that said, I plan on going to Vegas next weekend. Smh...
I lost my job cuz of that too, luckily i was on good terms with management and paid them back. They even said i could reapply if i wanted but i moved on. Never steal or borrow.
I got irritated to myself thats why I stopped gambling.. if you're able to quit congratulation.. but if you're not then i suggest you bet very low and seek help.. don't even understand why the government supports this

Exactly😢 it's like some sort of possession you can't get away from. You are no longer in control
Oh my gosh, I TRULY BELIEVE THAT. Casinos are the DEVIL.
It's psychological warfare. It's between yourself and your mind...

This makes me think of the movie Owning Mahowny, also about a bank employee with a gambling addiction.

What was his mother in law doing at the casino?
No clue, but it's a miracle she was there
She was having an affair, working as a cocktail waitress and a prostitute apparently
Most likely playing the slot machines as many women over 60 who visit the casinos do.

Sounds like OK, but its only 18 to gamble for most of the tribes. One of, if not the most casinos per capita.
