Rich is the only guy that actually legitimately praises Purdy for what he is good at. He doesn’t give the credit to every other guy on the team and say he’s just a game manager and beneficiary of being on a talented team. Not unlike Joe Montana, or Steve Young… Thank you, Rich.!!

I’ve always hated that “game manager” term the media uses. Technically they are all game managers, that’s literally what the QB’s job is is to read what the defense is doing, execute the offense and manage the damn game.

Love that Purdy said that McCaffery should be MVP. Should we take away from McCaffery because he runs behind Trent Williams? Should we take away McCaffery because he gets great blocking from receivers and tight ends? No. Should McCaffery win the Offensive Player of the Year? Yes. But if a Quarterback is going to be the MVP it should be Purdy.

People needs to recognize something. This 49ers team, this team of superstars; McCaffrey, Deebo, Kittle, Aiyuk, Williams, Bosa, Warner, etc; they voted a second year, last pick in the draft, former 3rd team, 23 year old QB with a total of seven starts in his career as a team captain before the season. I mean, really think about that. A lot of football had been played by the rest of that roster, a lot of guys that have been around the league for a long time, a lot of guys with leadership qualities and experience, they voted as a team captain. One of the reasons Brock Purdy is so important to the team is his leadership. How many young quarterbacks having the success Purdy has up to this point without letting it go to their heads. Purdy is perfect for the 49ers. The 49ers run a complex offense with lots of moving parts, and to run it as hot as it is capable it requires a high level of calm, lightning fast processing to get the ball out fast. One of the big reasons the 49ers have so many weapons is because Purdy processes at an elite level, gets through his reads and gets to the ball to the best option and does not play favorites. Brock can make all the passes, has the speed and athleticism to extend plays and keep defenses honest but is always looking to pass downfield. While Brock does have the rocket like are so other quarterbacks posses, his passes are thrown with touch and accuracy making it easier for his target to catch balls in stride and add YAC. Brock is on a great team with some great players, but Brock makes them better.

Quite simply, Purdy makes high level QB play look easy. His read-progressions, his pocket awareness, his anticipation, and most importantly, his mental resolve.
The thing is, on any given pass play, there will be someone open on EVERY play. The only question is, can you as the QB find that player in the sea of bodies. Purdy finds that player almost every time. Again, he makes it LOOK easy.

The one thing that's been disappointing about Brocky Purdy this year is, instead of people acknowledging the historic performance that's happening before their eyes and that this might not be seen again, it is sad. I mean, the kid is breaking records set by legends and hall of fame QB, some not even done before and all I hear is he's surrounded by a good team. He's in his 2nd year and this proficient? Just wait till he has more experience and an off-season to work with his weapons. Yall forgetting he's fresh off and surgery and didn't have training. 😂 I love watching him play, it is truly inspiring what he's been able to do with all the hate and others counting you out.

Purdy is a great player forged at a blue collar school, not a blue chip one. He is able to make great reads behind an NFL caliber line because he had to play behind a not so great college one. Easy to appreciate one of the best o-lines when you have that level of mental processing, which honestly isn't a terrible thing to have when you aren't the most physically gifted guy. The ability to throw to open guys that won't get hit and run for more yards is a stupidly underrated ability, apparently.

Deebo calmed him a humble beast. Purdy's elite processing speed is what makes the whole offense go. Jimmy could not do what Brock does. When Jimmy got pressure in his face, he took a sack. I'm a Niners fan since the early 80's ... My favorite throw in the game Sunday was when they were 3 and 11 ... Cardinals blitz ... Purdy with no hesitation throws the hot route in Kittle .. with a man in his grill puts the ball in the perfect spot where kittle already had the first down , but because of where it was placed it allowed kittle to get additional yards. That's the kind of throw that makes a decent QB into a great one.
Also the big difference in how Purdy plays .. he is always looking down field even when pressured.

Unlike most people. I haven't forgotten the Philly game last January. The answer about Value is self explanatory to any Niners fan....we stilll believe we could have gone to the SB if he had not got hurt...we can figure out a CMC injury IMO because Shanny is a RB wizard..he once schemed Mostert to rush for 200 yrds in an NFC Championship game..He can always figure out the run game.
The pass game has never looked like this in SF since the Steve Young years....Purdy is special and we HAVE to keep him healthy to have any chance at the SB.
I love CMC a lot..but if I had to choose between him and Brock for a playoff game..I d' rather have Brock available..
CMC will be OPOY and 1st team All Pro..but he's not the player carrying our SB hopes on his right arm..sorry man.

Last year, the 49ers won half their games pretty well and squeaked a few extra wins and struggled against good teams with Jimmy G at the helm. People forget that Brock Purdy took over and in his first start smoked Tom Brady 35-0 before the 49ers took the foot off the gas and Brady scored in garbage time. This team has never lost since when Purdy, Deebo, and CMC are healthy. The 3 game losing streak had injuries to Deebo, Trent Williams, CMC (playing hurt) and Purdy was concussed. Purdy didn't throw INTs until after being concussed. Even then, the rookie K missed an easy game winning field goal. The 49ers should be 12-2.

I watched Purdy give my Sooners fits for 4 seasons, and not just my Sooners but every other team he faced in the Big XII. Okay, sure Big XII defenses aren't exactly 'Bama or Georgia or Michigan, but he was always making plays and beating teams that Iowa State had no business beating on paper. I knew he would become a good NFL QB, and I lobbied in fan forums, chats, etc. for my Raiders to take a flyer on him (of course, they did not) but even I had no idea he would be this good this quickly.

People can't get over where Purdy was drafted, 'if he was really good he would have gone in the first round', 'he's in the most QB friendly offense in football, of course he's going to put up stats' - sure, he doesn't have the physical traits that scouts want to see in a high draft pick but he has the mentality to be a great quarterback. Quiet confidence, unfazed by pressure, the ability to shrug off bad plays and the experience of 46 starts at Iowa State, not all of them great by any means but a ton of lessons to learn from. He isn't great yet but he's much, much better than all the naysayers think.

Brock is decisive, has a killer mentality, always looks for the big play, and usually makes it. He's strong, quick, and accurate. Trent Williams said Brock can make any throw on the field, and he's right. There's no comparison to those 2nd-rate QBs you mentioned. Even when you're trying to stand up for the guy, you still can't help but fall into the trap of diminishing him.
