Almost everyone who built anything in life knows the under-budgeting of a project. I'm home improvement contractor and I agree with you 100%. However - there are ways to save considerably if you adopt certain approach e.i. hiring vs DIY, adopting budget effective design, knowing that most of money you will spend at the final stage of the project, shopping around, etc. This is good topic to talk about and starts with a question: How much an architect in Boquete charges for his work. Hello Greg, Getting to an average cost is difficult when most houses are custom built, the price will depend on the finishes and type of house you want. 1 level or 2 levels? Is it a sloped lot or flat lot? All those questions come into play but to give you an answer, for planing purposes think about 1000 to 1200$/m2.
