Whisky .com reviews the Crown Royal XR. They used for this particular blend of Crown Royal the last barrels that have been distilled in the old LaSalle distillery.
The nose:
Dried fruit, honey, spicy
The taste:
Weak, spicy, pepper, sugar, bitterness of rye
The finish:
long and warm

Southern MD - California/Hollywood area .... Military bases sell it for $120 no tax... I think it's $126 in North/South Carolina with tax.

You want a good Canadian whisky you should try and get your hands on some Forty Creek. In my opinion one of the best whiskys in the world. Another choice of mine would be Alberta Premium, And get the dark horse for a real treat.

Just tried forty creek and it would probably be my #1 bang for the buck. usually I don't like mixing whisky because the cost but Forty creek I am hesitant because of the taste.
For some reason, my local liquor store was selling this bottle for only $60. I literally haven't seen a single other place in the U.S. selling it for less than $100. Some were selling it for as high as $180. They must've either made a mistake in the pricing or gotten a larger-than-expected shipment of it.
$80 is the cheapest I've seen it. Wish I lived where ever you are...lol

ha! I love your commentary on their marketing information. Appropriately skeptical. Sounds like a decent whisky (but perhaps not for the price -- about $140 in my state).
Trust me I bought one a year ago and all I can think of is getting another one everytime I go to the liquor

The water from La Salle is very polluted LOLI went by that old Seagram's distillery many times when they had a batch cooking back before Seagram's didn't exist anymore... I will look out for this XR. It has to be over 20 years old...
$150 here in New South Wales, Australia. why is it cheaper over there than it is here in Aus? normally with spirits it's the other way around.
I bought two of these, one to taste and one to keep sealed. It was very good but Crown Royal also came out with a Monarch 75th that I have trouble finding a difference between them as far as taste goes. If you can get a hold of a bottle of Crown Royal Monarch could you do a review on that one and compare it to the XR? Thank you again for all your great reviews
I thought the Monarch was ok but nothing special. The XR is good, so smooth. For another comparison I think the standard Crown tastes better than the Reserve
I have a Crown Royal XR - Waterloo unopened my dad bought me... Have an offer of $1500 atm from a co-worker maybe sit on it another 5 years lol still has the plastic seal over the top never been opened.
Wonderful review. Me and my friend say down and open and drank with the video and you can smell...taste..and feel EVERYTHING he described move across your flavor pallet. It was crazy. Well done good sir
Nov 4th, 2020, still available in Montreal for $200CA (at the SAQ). And the water surrounding the island is not advised to bathe in, let alone add it to your whisky.

Hello and thanks for your review. The abv is too low and the price is too high...I believe the packaging(box & bottle) are more expensive then the liquid. The Northern Harvest Rye is better value for the money! Also, Forty Creek!
i paid $239 at my local shop in 01/23. I would love to be able to buy this for $100!!! I see it online for $999 and one other place has it on sale for $799 today. Why is it so expensive now?
I live in British Columbia in Canada and a few more bottles have showed up hear in the last few weeks. I purchased a bottle May 15, '18 and it probably will not last too long.

Costs $180 in Ontario which is a few bucks more than the 120 Euros. Nearly double the price of the second Most expensive Canadian whisky on the market, Wiser's Red Letter. I think it may even be the most expensive (bottled and sold within Canada) Canadian Whisky of all time along with Canadian Club 30 year old.

Wiser's Legacy, Highwood Ninety 20 years, Danfields 21 years and Lot 40 to name a few are much better and at a fraction of the price.
I like Horst picking apart the shit marketing of Canadian Whisky...They are so cheap and now trying to enter higher price points with inferior product.

Correct, so it should be more like "enjoy the off brownish tinge of the bluish Detroit River and the pickeral and perch flavour of Lake Erie and it's zebra mussel invasion, in your lovely Crown Royal. Any off colour notes are compliments of the air that is fused with the oil refinery just a few miles away near Interstate 75 South as Detroit turns to Taylor Michigan."

The Saint Lawrence is the intestine leading to the ass hole of the great lakes. They moved the distillery when the Quebecois made life miserable for English speakers! But the XO XR are some of their better tasting whiskeys.
