I had an Airedale for 10 years. He died at 10. I still cry when I think about him. He was so silly. I mean tbat in the nicest way. He made me laugh every day. He was so hard to train but that was ok because his personality was so wonderful. I used to chase him through the woods at the cottage. Soooo much fun. He was great with other dogs and all people. I miss him so much. One thing about Airedales is how incredibly strong they are. They are known to be used as the lead in a dog sled team because of their strength and extreme aloha attitude.
The hardest thing about having a dog is losing them. They are with us for too short a time. Gasser on the last comment was a little harsh. Go get another he wrote. Your not changing cars. Its akin to popping out and getting another mother or daughter. You never forget your dog. I feel your loss as I had mine taken away from me by my abusive female, partner. The law does not care. People can be evil. dogs are just your soul partner. I have to have a different breed of dog each time. The memories are too painful to compare one dog with another looking the same. My Humphrey is with me every week in my dreams. I feel I am also in his. One year has passed since your wrote your message. I hope that time has helped soften the loss.
Our 6 month Airedale is such a calm, peaceful, docile and obedient boy... then he wakes up! Such beautiful training! I wish we could find a trainer local to us that understands how stubborn and yet tender hearted Airedales are. Positive reinforcement without physical correction seems to take too much patience for most trainers. This video was a pleasure to watch!

My Airedale is exactly like you say he pulls aggressive to all not to be trusted.but is very intelligent and will protect the family and loves the kids in fact he is one of the kids
Absolutely true! I show them something new, maybe three times and we then do something they know to be praised. It is positive and they so badly won't give up and want to please but easily bored. My favorite breed for police work, multi species hunting/ retrieve and handicapp assistance as well as good family dogs. I learned with first one, don't bore them, they are quick to learn even if we think they didn't. My over 16 remembered where we pheasant hunted and we hadn't been in a few years and he was sound asleep. He knew! The joy and energy they have, a seem puppy like whole lives. The only thing any Airedale I trained didn't do that I asked them, was to live forever..
I can relate! I've lost so many items for the first two years of owning my airedale, Kaylee. The amount of joy she has given me has more then made up for the losses. She is my buddy.
I have said goodbye to 6 in my lifetime. I grew up with them. It's heartbreaking for sure but they gave me so much love and joy and the memories live on forever in my heart.
OMG, my eyes became wet because remind me (face and attitude) even if bigger, to Wire Fox Terrier. Same stubbornness but still perfect with the family and incredibly patient and caring with toddlers
Only thing my Dale is still challenged by is other dogs. Off leash she loves to cavort and play with them but on leash she is very unhappy around them.
I have an Airedale, Hildy she is a sweet well mannered obedient little girl but she has a very independent side to her. She likes to sit by her self and look out at space (out side the fence) and when she can get out the its game on! She like to go and explore and when you find her the it becomes a game of catch me if you can. I heard that in part this is part of the breed's genes, cause the were bread to work and hunt independent of people? I know they are very bright but was it difficult to get past that independent streak ?
My airdale weighs 110lbs he is10 years old and I don't know what I'm going to do when I loose him. I have had lot's of pets over the years and the Airdale has been the best. They can be honery at times and when they are ready for bed they go and ignore you ,, after they have there snack,,,he,,he
I had to put my girl down over a year and a half ago and I still think of her daily. Best dogs for me any how I have ever shared life with. Just bought a new little Airedale puppy, Aspen Dancer, she is now 10 weeks old. What a tornado with teeth.
Hell. My Airedale could do all that and more while she had NO lead on. She was absolutely military precision with tremendous energy and enthusiasm. These dogs are just at the beginning of what it means to be trained.

Handsome dogs...I think the Airedale is one of the most non-aggressive towards other dogs of the terriers...a great dog and pretty easily trained. Our Kerry Blue could not go past another dog with lunging for it...Just their character.

Felicidades, preciosa raza y muy bien educados. Buen trabajo❤️🙌
It took me 5 days to train my Airedale to all off-leash commands, less is more, and be consistent.

I have had 3 airedales, great dogs....
Want to see a grown man cry? Give him an Airedale for 6 months then ask him to reflect on the day sometime in the future when he will say goodbye.
For me it is Welsh Terriers, from which Airedales were originally bred.
I can relate! I've lost so many items for the first two years of owning my airedale, Kaylee. The amount of joy she has given me has more then made up for the losses. She is my buddy.
It still amazes me the intelligence my dog has. I'm so in love with her
@@colinwilliamgraham Hate to burst your bubble but Airedales are bred from a long ago breed of terrier and an otterhound.

do you know where the pups are from
how long did this training take in time cost per dog? do you need to have refresher training every X weeks?
can a basic version of this be done with most non-genetically-agressive breeds/mutts ?
So cute mine is 1 year 4 months old hes a big suck!
Hell. My Airedale could do all that and more while she had NO lead on. She was absolutely military precision with tremendous energy and enthusiasm. These dogs are just at the beginning of what it means to be trained.
Absolutely. They are only a matter of weeks into their training. It takes much longer to achieve a high precision level of training

We have trainers scattered throughout the South and up to London too

Do you sell airedale terriers?

wonderful dogs, but quiete unknown here.
You can't train out aggression in any terrier, any more than you could train a cat to not hunt a mouse.

Beautiful dogs!
It looks as if the folded forward ears reduce the dogs hearing ability.
Can the ears of the Airedale be cropped?
Why would you want to crop their ears... That really is the dumbest thing. They hear perfectly well, a darn sight better than you.
Cropping is animal cruelty and does NOT enhance the hearing. Shame on you.
