This is day 1 of me learning the Charlier Cut, & so far, so good! I can do it! After a fashion. I understand the process and I'm doing my repetitions and starting to develop that 'muscle memory', but... The reset! After each (successful) cut, I have to 'tidy' the cards before I can repeat it. Almost every time! Could I be holding the cards badly, maybe? My suspicions are twofold... 1. I'm doing it wrong. 2. Gravity works differently on my planet! Hopefully, by the time you read this, I will have worked it out for myself and moved on, but I suspect many other beginners (like me) will be experiencing the same issue. Any thoughts? Btw: If I ever win the Lottery, I'm gonna make you disgustingly rich as a "thank you" for this channel! 😁
Thanks Richard! I’m aware that for now these tutorials are nothing new but I hope to bring more value by increasing the production value and by making everything as in depth as possible :)
If you have small hands, you could also decrease the amount of cards in the deck. You still will have to release the cards from your thumb, but it will be a little easier when you are still learning.
Hey Bao! Do you think u can give us some more tutorials for other one handed cuts? I watched some other creators but they are not as good as you at teaching. Really would appreciate that ! Thanks a lot and keep up the great work! Greetings from Germany
Bao i really like your explanations and everything gets easier with yourd videos, and so does this charlier cut, but i have one problem: after i have cut it, ic just cant tidy my cards up to recut them. Do you know something to help me?
Another great video. I had been trying a different way and was doing it but not very clean. This tutorial was great. Had me doing it fairly cleanly in minutes. Not sure if small thumbs or wide cards. I might need a smaller deck. I can’t keep my thumb in place to do the running Charlier cut.
Wonderful video. I already know the charlier cut, but the running cut was new for me. I hope that you and your family are doing well. Namasté my friend. 😊
I can easily do the charlier Cut but the running charlier Cut ist Impossible for me. My hands are too small 😂 Still amazing Video! Keep on going with your Videos!
My hands are large enough for the cut but my thumb is way to short for the running cut, i cant reach my stack while holding the first dropped pile, nvm i managed too do it if i drop smaller parts of the deck
@@ikealime8356 one handed cuts are done in my non-dominant hand (left for me) but I’m right handed. I think I explained that you do it in the other hand because you deal cards with your doninant hand.
i have a small hand and after practincing about 10-20 minutei finally can do the charlie cut, but with this hand i think i probly would never be able to spam the charlie cut i can only do it one at the time then i need to position my grip again T_T
I've been working on doing the Charlier cut for a couple of months. Sometimes I want to give up. I mean two months... Sometimes I feel like I don't want to see a deck of cards ever again for the rest of my life because of the frustration and depression of not being able to do the Charlier cut. Two months. It's literally driving me insane. I'm so sick of not being able to do it and seeing people on TH-cam do it every day drives me mad. I've been trying and trying every day for two months. Let me just ask you this simple question: How do you do it?
Your voice is better than the ASMR 😊😊 and i love your tutorials i'm learning cardistry and card trick from you and chris ramsay 😁😁 on first day i can do tenkai vanish and reappear
Is it normal that I am more comfortable doing one handed cuts with my right hand than with my left hand? (I am right handed). Should I continue practicing with my left hand or I should stick with my right hand? Thank you Bao for all the tutorials and tips 😊
@@BaoMagic Thanks for the response. I've been practicing with my left hand for the past 2hours now while applying your tips, and I think Im getting the hang of it now. Thank you
@@BaoMagic I'm more comfortable doing it with my right hand too and I'm right handed but i deal card with my left hand. Should I start practicing with my left hand?
Any tips for running cuts with small hands? I try to do them but I just can't keep my thumb on the deck to make more cuts and the whole second half of of deck just falls down😢
I would say try to maximize space by holding the cards at the very tip of your fingers to allow contact with your thumb. If that is still not possible I would suggest a bridge sized deck!
My best tip is to try to hold the pack as far as possible near the tip of your fingers or to use less cards (like remove the jokers or half a deck). The running charlier will unfortunately require you to be able to hold the top pack and I haven't been able to do a running charlier with a jumbo deck... yet 😂
I will surely practice more with this tip, I mean, practice makes perfect 😅 even though I actually learned an improvised little triple one handed cut out of it, still worth it!
My hands are so small I cannot even lift the packet while holding the one between thumb and middle finger. So I cheat. I find holding the to packet at the fingertips doesn't work for me. Instead I just hold the top on the last knuckle of the fingers, then balance to do the cut. Wink magic had a video that shows this similar to this way too.
Why did you kind of rush with the running charlier cut? I have very little idea on how to do the cut ver itself and just have an idea of what it looks like when you do it. The part that is killing me is I have no idea how you are holding the cards from the first cut as you drop more no matter what I do I have to move the cards under my thumb with my other hand to drop more. Edit: Seems like everywhere I look the running cut is only meant for bigger size hands as normal size hands don't have the thumb range to put playing cards under so guess my hands are just too small lmao
@BaoMagic I can do the cut a few times in a row without any mistakes, but I can't seem to master the running cut. It might just be that I need more practice or I don't have very good range in my hand YET! Also just wanted to say thank you for the video! It helped me A TON in learning the cut itself and honestly has made me want to learn so much more haha!
@@BaoMagic Yeah, I just couldn't work out how to separate the packets while holding the others. On closer inspection it looks like your thumb is longer than mine and can hold over the top of the cards to keep them in place. I can't do that :( Maybe if you show me the running charlier with the jumbo cards I'ma change my mind/
I was wondering why I don't see any girls doing cardistry until I tried and realized it is because we have tiny hands. :/ I can do the ccharlie-whatever cut but it is a struggle. The scissor cut i find is impossible in my hand with a regular size deck.
Bao your voice is so calming. I feel like I need to watch these alone in the dark 😂 keep the videos coming! Great stuff!
Haha yes! The video is definitely best when watched during the evening by the fireplace with a glass of scotch 😂
Yeah I agree i just watched his card tower vid and it was so relaxing haha
@@BaoMagic you should make like an ASMR magic tutorial lol.
And Bao is back with some ASMR cardistry.

Great tutorial. Beginner here and heard some tips I hadn’t heard before. Awesome.

Running charlier is very hard with small thumbs, but if you drop small stacks it might be easier to reach. took me a few minutes to suceed
Liked for jumbo cut. 😁

Hello
Bruh the reset is crazy hard if you want to do them fast.

Did you finish learning a proper charlier first? The running charlier is taught with the assumption that you’ve already learned the original cut.

I think my hands are too small to do it at all there is no room for me to hold the top stack on when I’m moving the other stack on top
You should do asmr
the bigger question here is how to cut the deck in half with fingernails
Good tutorial for the Charlier cut, but I think you breezed over the running cut so quickly, that it's difficult to follow what you did.
This is currently an unlisted link 😂 how did this even get through???
Also, I’m assuming that you should have gotten the Charlier cut down at that stage so it’s basically the same thing but with smaller packets.
