I never get tired of listening to this traditional gospel music. This is spiritual therapy to my soul❤️ I've been listening to the Roberta Martin singers ever since I was a child
This is from the only know live recording of the Martin Singers. It was recorded at First Baptist Nutley. N.J. home to Rev. Lawrence Roberts and the Angelic Choir. This a classic thank you for the posting
I love this song. Lucy Smith's organ playing is so hauntingly soulful on this one. She really knows her way around the key of g minor and her organ combinations on the Hammond are so rich on this album (Savoy MG-14066). Norsalus' voice was like fire in his top register and Gloria was never no joke!
This song was from the "One" live recording the Martins did. I understand from Lucy that Mrs. Martin and Delores got to New Jersey the day of the recording and the Martins rehearsed all day, and recorded the album that night, They still came through with "Flying Colors!" I so miss them! II loved them all!
@Byrd5502: Oh wow!!! No problem at all. I'm so glad that you were led to my posting! I know EXACTLY how it is when you're searching for something and no one but YOU knows what you're talking about.
You are right, that is absolutely Lucy Smith---Bessie Folk did not sing at this performance. Delois takes the 1st soprano notes and Lucy takes the 2nd soprano. Also, I know many want to claim Bessie as a soprano, but she was not, bright though her voice was. I think it's like McKissick--many hear him and think "Baritone", but he was a tenor with a baritonal resonance. Bessie was a contralto with soprano-like brightness, a cute, tiny woman (height) with an even cuter voice :)

One of the sopranos is Delois Barrett, and I believe the other is Lucy Smith. Some have said Bessie Folk, but I think it's Lucy.
You're definitely welcomed!
Glad you like it, man.

@Godsprotectinme: I know, right!!
The guy who leads is Norsalus McKissick.
You're welcomed!
@Rowoches Aw man
That is so Lucy Smith Collier singing 2nd soprano Delois is singing 1st sopano
@direfranchement But do you really think of Eugene Smith as a baritone or is he a baritone with a tenor resonance?
