As someone who has completed every zelda game, the oracle games should definitely be higher on the list. It is such a pain getting all the rings and using the password system, and you actually need to finish each game twice to fully complete them.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is however not that difficult compared to basically all other Zelda's. Sure, it takes a lot of time to fully complete... But the only really hard places are probably Trial of the Sword and that single Korok Seed in Lurelin Village where you need to get a stone on a roof. The rest takes A LOT of time, but isn't really hard.
I agree. However, to many people the difficulty may lie precisely in that lenght. Especially nowadays, where attention spans seem to grow ever shorter and life in general is so fast paced. So, I think one can say BotW IS hard to complete for some. Not because of skill required, but because of the dedication to stick with it for hours and hours. Even in a game as good as BotW. I mean, 900 bloody Koroks...
I hated that game because of how you literally could skip the main bosses to beat the game. I visited Hyrule Castle out of curiosity when I hadn’t been to the Goron place yet and was literally so angry and sad when Ganon showed up. Add the hilariously bad final boss fight with him, and BOTW left a permanently foul taste in my mouth.
@@JohnSmith-yf5bk you can do literally anything in that game. Including what you did, or completing it 100% first. Or you could have just paused and exited. The game let's you do anything you want, so it's on you :p
Once I got used to ocarina of time and 💯 it a few times, things like the water temple became a science, but MAJORAS MASK now that took some patience., but it was rewarding to beat. Twilight princess was alot of fun and probably the easiest one for me. Wind waker was difficult the first time through.
Twilight princess was hardest for me but i beat it. Now i am working on wind waker, and I'm very close but i need to take pictures of every character. I could just use exploits though as i did in breath of the wild. Ocarina was hard at first because i played it when I was 4 but now i beat it 3 times and could tell you everything you need to know, and just started a playthrough. The mini games in Majora's mask are hard, specifically bombchu bowlin. alttp was difficult, but straightforward.
A year ago, I tried to complete the second quest of Zelda 1 without guide. I managed to get to the 5th dungeon. After that, I spend days wandering around the map without finding anything new, and I can't take it anymore. It's much more difficult than Zelda 2, a game which I have beaten several times.
It's extremely difficult without a guide! The game was intended to be played with its manual, and I think that would have made the experience better for you
@@ser55555the manual hardly gives any useful information. It only helps for getting you started and finding the first 3 or so dungeons on the first quest
@@Rumblefan I agree it doesn't give a ton of info, but it gives an idea of what to expect for the later dungeons. It also gives a few hints to help find the later dungeons. It's definitely easier to play the game with the manual than without.
See, "Ocarina Of Time"'s original game "Ocarina Of Time Ura" had a final dungeon , 6 mini-dungeons and 23 dungeons , other from all the side-quests and all that , so could you imagine if they actually released it?
In my opinion, the biggest tragedy with the URA project was losing the stellar music it had; sure, Song of Healing was recycled from it, but it's still a damn shame...
You hadn't mentioned the difficulty in getting the Fierce Deity's Mask in Majora's Mask, which I think is one of the biggest "completion bonuses" of all time. In order to get it, you need to collect every other mask in the game. I don't think that part is too hard, but then there are the mini-dungeons in the moon which are very hard to get through. I believe the Goht dungeon is the hardest since you need to keep yourself from falling off those ramps. It has taken me tries and tries to get each time with only a few cases where I get it in one go. If you're trying to get the heart pieces in those mini-dungeons, that makes things even harder as I especially have to avoid falling off the ramps in the Goht dungeon. The Gyorg one is also difficult since you need to know which path to go, but it is especially hard in the 3DS remake as you need to activate the gates to get through and then jumped from the water at the right time.
Not to mention that with breath of the wild you have to visit literally every location on the map and after you get to 99.64% complete any small places you've missed are difficult to find. And the reason I said 99.64 is because that's where I'm at
Majora's Mask was difficult for me, but it was still a great game. Adventure of Link was brutal and unforgiving but without a lot of redeeming qualities. I died a ton in Breath of the Wild, but never considered it very difficult, because the controls were so fluid and the world was so pleasant and fun to jump around in that I never grew bored replaying a section after I'd die
I’m almost finished with skyward sword and haven’t had one game over. i’m playing link to the past now and i can’t go 30 minutes without a game over. Parrying makes games way easier imo
When it comes to Zelda I started with a link to the past on the SNES back in the 90s when I grew up. Link's Awakening which I had the original game boy version I could just not figure out how to get past certain dungeons. Just could not figure out where to go. I've beaten ocarina of Time and I've beaten four swords adventure but that's more of a spin-off. I've also beaten a link between worlds. However when I eventually played the original NES Zelda I found it really hard and it really had more to do with the controls. There's not anything wrong with the controls it's just that instead of links sword swinging from one side to the other so that you can hit enemies who are diagonal from you just pops up right in front of them so you have an incredibly limited range when you attack and because you can't move diagonally it was just so hard for me to adapt to it. Zelda 2 I've wanted to give chance after chance to but I just cannot enjoy that game for some reason
The hardest part of any Zelda game I did was the Goron Dance which I can't beat because the dance moves are random so remembering a set of moves in a specific order is useless as well there is a 2 second time limit to do a dance move which if you screw you once have to start from the beginning. Compare to the Water Temple the the Goron Dance makes the Water Temple difficulty like crossing the street which anyone can easily do.

I really want to play Majora's Mask on my 3DS (i have the game physical because of the Eshop closing down next year) but i can't figure out how the darn saving system works :(
One of the few things i figured out was to go deposit the rupees to the guy that looks like he's praying. That way you have them saved. Good luck with the rest ._.
Look there are 2. ways to save ur game.1)Save it at the 🦉 statue 2)Play the song of time,it will save ur progress (if you have completed any side quest or any dungeon then it will save that reward of the quest)& take u to the first day,u will lose all ur c button items like arrows, bombs, deku nuts etc..& all ur rupees if you haven't deposited them in the bank. Also if u complete any quest & exit the game without saving u will lose all ur progress till the point u have last saved ur game so make sure to save it before exiting the game,i have messed up this bcoz in OOT when exiting the menu they always gave you save game option but in Majora they changed it completely. So make sure to save before exiting 👀
Wheres minish cap? You have to collect a large set of things that you have to spend rupees for a chance to get a new one of the over 100 to just get a heart piece
Windwaker was the first console game (not including star fox 64) that I ever beat start to finish. Its still my favorite zelda game. Majoras mask is something I never beat but now I will since I can play on switch.
I remember when playing Majoras Mask on the N64. i had no internet, didn't have any friends to give me tips, nor have a guide book, i was stuck at woodfall deku palace. got the seed, but no means to grow. and somehow it never occurred to me after 12 years of not finishing it that i can store spring water in a bottle. played Ocarina of Time so much that i didn't notice it had a new feature. but one thing i don't remember if the N64 version did have a sign that says u can store spring water or the bottle says it. it been that long since i played in early 2000s until 2012 of my senior year high school that i finally got to beat it
WW and MM are far easier/less dull to 100% tha OOT or TP. I’ve never 100% either of those b/c going on never ending, tedious fetch quests isn’t fun. I’ve played OOT dozens of times and never thought about collecting all skultullas
I honestly found Breath Of The Wild to be a lot harder to beat than Zelda II. I'm not even talking 100% completion (I will NEVER be doing that) - just beating the main story of the game. Zelda II is pretty forgiving once you've memorized enemy attack patterns and learned how to use/manipulate the magic system. Breath of the Wild is the schoolyard bully who beats you up, steals your lunch money, stuffs you in a locker, and then takes your bike to add insult to injury.
Can you believe I didn't use no guide when I first played Majora's Mask it took me a long time to figure out everything but now I can do all of the side quests to get every single mask with my eyes closed Majora's Mask is my favorite Zelda game
That sounds really difficult. That game took a lot of explaining from guides before I even understood what was going on with the three day repeating time structure lol
@@jayvee5686 yeah it took me like a couple months to get everything down and how to get all of the masks it was hard and I figure out how to use the Ocarina of Time music note to slow down time and I figured out how to use the store tell her lady I forget her name I learned how to use her perfectly to get missions done when she speeds up the time she makes you fall asleep by telling stories if you don't have a certain mask
Breath of the Wild and Tears from the Kingdom win out. 900 and 1000 Koroks respectively? Come one. Hell, I still haven't 100% BOTW. Wind Waker is also high up there for me for the picture taking side quest which is time consuming with a couple of characters that are easy to miss (I think you only get one chance to snap Zelda's picture). And Majora's Mask, while short, is almost designed to be difficult to 100% by the very nature of its layout.
thing is: few kids I knew went into zelda 1 blind. We had nintendo power, or knew someone who did. we had basic hints about here and there. the rest was exploration. because at the time, what else did we have to do?
WHY won't they bring WW and TP to Switch? A simple port job of the Wii U versions would be so easy. Especially since we haven't gotten much Zelda in so long it would be more than adequate for a tide over.
Reading the comments makes it obvious that "difficult" is a loose term here. It's more about how frustrating things can get. I finished the Oracle games and beat their Ganon, but getting all rings seemed too random and pointless to me. Ocarina of time, Link's awakening and a Link to the past are a breeze to play through, their design is mostly timeless and there isn't any ridiculously random or unfair stuff in them. The original Legend of Zelda is tough to beat in both quests w/o a guide, but if you methodically and meticulously work yourself through the screens, you'll get there eventually(taking notes and drawing maps is highly recommended!). I think BotW killed me the most often just due to its sheer length and excellent fighting AI for enemies, but imagine trying to 100% blind that, what a nitemare! I'm playing Majora's mask on the switch for the first time currently, so far it's okay, but I hate the Goron rolling controls and camera (I know, it's the same as in OoT, but it just felt better there, can't explain why), that is some dated, bad design. I tried the Adventure of Link a long time ago, I didn't feel like it was that hard per se, but it just didn't seem fun enough to be worth it, so I never finished that one. Can't speak for the rest on this list, but I know WW has a ridiculous amount of sailing to get all chests.
How is Minish Cap not on here?? That game is waaaay more of a pain in the ass to 100% than any of the other 2D (and most 3D) Zeldas. The infamous figurines, as well as the Kinstones.
To the people who say that BOTW is harder than Zelda II: Please explain how. I can do strategy, but sometimes Zelda II just says "No, you're dying right here. No further." It's the only Zelda game where I have to "Nope" out of fights. Still on the final temple.
Wind Waker should be higher they forgot about the pictograph sculpture quest where you have to take a picture of EVERY ENEMY ITEM AND CHARACTER! with only 3 memory slots
I’ve 100% ocarina of time like 12 times and I’ve also done randomizer so I know where everything is lmao. The trading quests are a pain in the ass. I also did it under 11 hours. Only Zelda game I’ve 100%
Unless you have 2 GBA it is impossible to get 100% on the Seasons games because The 3DS Virtual Console is based as if you're playing on a Game Boy Color
Thanks to the password system, you only need 1 GBA. And someone made a password editor that you can use to get the GBA rings on Game Boy Color or Virtual Console. As long as that's ALL you use it for, I don't consider it cheating.
Lol. The only Zelda game I never beat was "The Adventures of Link"....pretty sure I busted a controller on half over that game lol. Brutally hard, there's no comparison. And this is back when it came out. No guides, no internet to save me lol. The only modern game that is even close to comparable of difficulty was Ninja-Gaiden Xbox. You know the one they fuxked up the difficulty setting on release 🤣 I died a lot, but still beat it....but not "AoL". No chance
I did BOTW in master mode a few months ago and that was a "one and done" thing for me. Interesting but VERY hard. The only Zelda game I've ever played and hated was MM. Had the worst time with that one. The worst part for me was the mini games. Had me in a rage most of the time 😡
For me Wind Waker was the easiest game in the franchise. Next hardest in terms of most difficult dungeons would be Majora's Mask. And then the overall difficulty is extreme in Breath of the Wild due to the massive amount of damage that's inflicted on you.
breath of the wild wasnt hard to beat. As a veteran Zelda player, it was easy for the first time. the main 4 dungeons were easy once you figure out what to do. The side shines were the same, either you fought an enemey or do a mini dungeon. If youre prepared and have everything with you, it should be a breeze. Majora's mask was more harder if im being honest. The water temple was a headache compared to ocarina of time

The first Zelda game was absolutely brutal without a walkthrough
The hardest Zelda games for me will always be Minish Cap and the Oracle games because of RNG.
Oddly enough I struggled so hard with Minish Cap as well. Most of the 3D ones have been challenging but not that difficult!
I've played Minish cap multiple times. What RNG are you talking about?
I'm currently on minish cap as we speak. It's pretty tough I'm not going to lie. Just best the second dungeon today. Now on to the third element
@@omorifan6011 I know this is a year late, but the figurines... the damn figurines...
@@ShawnF6FHellcat yeah I have recently watched a video about it
I really want to play Majora's Mask on my 3DS (i have the game physical because of the Eshop closing down next year) but i can't figure out how the darn saving system works :(
One of the few things i figured out was to go deposit the rupees to the guy that looks like he's praying. That way you have them saved. Good luck with the rest ._.
Play the song of time , it’ll save & reset to day 1
Look there are 2. ways to save ur game.1)Save it at the 🦉 statue
2)Play the song of time,it will save ur progress (if you have completed any side quest or any dungeon then it will save that reward of the quest)& take u to the first day,u will lose all ur c button items like arrows, bombs, deku nuts etc..& all ur rupees if you haven't deposited them in the bank.
Also one more thing in order to save ur game at the 🦉 statue u will need to activate it first by slashing it with ur sword, enjoy ur game 😀
@@AdityaKumar-li7sm and for dungeons, do i just need to do the bosses again when i go back to the first day?
Wheres minish cap? You have to collect a large set of things that you have to spend rupees for a chance to get a new one of the over 100 to just get a heart piece
Wind Waker is long, especially if you're going for every figurine for the Nintendo Gallery
Cool video.
Windwaker was the first console game (not including star fox 64) that I ever beat start to finish. Its still my favorite zelda game. Majoras mask is something I never beat but now I will since I can play on switch.
I remember when playing Majoras Mask on the N64. i had no internet, didn't have any friends to give me tips, nor have a guide book, i was stuck at woodfall deku palace. got the seed, but no means to grow. and somehow it never occurred to me after 12 years of not finishing it that i can store spring water in a bottle. played Ocarina of Time so much that i didn't notice it had a new feature. but one thing i don't remember if the N64 version did have a sign that says u can store spring water or the bottle says it. it been that long since i played in early 2000s until 2012 of my senior year high school that i finally got to beat it
Is a link to the past really THAT hard?
Thank you for respectfully not using Krow's Graveyard footage
WW and MM are far easier/less dull to 100% tha OOT or TP. I’ve never 100% either of those b/c going on never ending, tedious fetch quests isn’t fun. I’ve played OOT dozens of times and never thought about collecting all skultullas
Top 10 Kid Icarus Villains!
Hmm. Hades, Medusa, Viridi? Arlon? Phosphora? Not many villains exactly. Just enemies or bosses.
There’s only 2 Kid Icarus games that’s not much Villains in the series.
@@icefire2104 true. But they could do bosses
I still can't find all the korok seeds even with a guide
Good video MOJO plays a good channel
botw is the first game that you _NEED_ to go online to finish .... even then it's damn near impossible to figure out where all the side quests are.
Same here except I had to look up how to get 3 masks especially the one that took 3 days to get. Wil always be my favorite zelda game
@@alexandertaylor2761 I 100% agree with you that would always be my favorite Zelda game too
I'm a die-hard fan of Majora's Mask
Breath of the Wild and Tears from the Kingdom win out.
900 and 1000 Koroks respectively? Come one. Hell, I still haven't 100% BOTW.
Wind Waker is also high up there for me for the picture taking side quest which is time consuming with a couple of characters that are easy to miss (I think you only get one chance to snap Zelda's picture).
And Majora's Mask, while short, is almost designed to be difficult to 100% by the very nature of its layout.
Can you the 10 hardest Star Wars Game to complete?
For example Rouge Leader and Jedi Fallen Order.
thing is: few kids I knew went into zelda 1 blind.
I wish we would get a zelda 2 remake that isn't impossible to beat
Ocarina of Time was not hard if you're talking about 100% maybe yes but the game was not hard
Breath of the Wild and A Link to the Past. Were they hard? Yes, but I beat both of them.
I really enjoy watching this content. You can tell there was time and love put into this content. Thank you 😊
How is Minish Cap not on here?? That game is waaaay more of a pain in the ass to 100% than any of the other 2D (and most 3D) Zeldas. The infamous figurines, as well as the Kinstones.
I've only completed WW (GC) and to 100% - including the tedious figurine quest.
If you include the dlc in botw places 1&2 will have to swap, since trial of the sword is BY FAR more difficult and frustraiting than zelda 2
Are we just gonna forget how hard it is to 100% minish cap JUST because of its obnoxious and tedious mysterious shells side quest?! 😂😭
To the people who say that BOTW is harder than Zelda II:
Please explain how.
I can do strategy, but sometimes Zelda II just says "No, you're dying right here. No further." It's the only Zelda game where I have to "Nope" out of fights. Still on the final temple.
In what world is Link's Awakening considered harder than Lttp?
Majoras Mask will always be my favorite but I hate that damn stone temple
Wind Waker should be higher. Mainly because the figurine sidequest that requires you to do NG+ to finish it.
Majoras Mask was the hardest for me but if I didn’t have the tingle tuner for wind waker that would’ve been the hardest game for me 😭
Wind waker isn't hard to do 100% or play in general Ive done 100% wind waker randomizers and did a 100% of the hd version maybe it's just experience
I started ocarina of time almost a week ago and im in the shadow temple right now
i abhor the water temple in twilight princess. got stuck there too many times
“Intricate designs like the Shadow Temple”
May I refer you to GMTK about how linear and uninteresting that dungeon is?
I've 100% 4 zelda games. Ocarina of time, majora's mask, twilight princess, and skyward sword
The oroginal NES Zelda is HARDER Maior'as Mask, no way! At least there is no 3 day timer in that one.
The CDI games were the hardest games hand down. Hard to take seriously that is
What about skyward sword? It's one of 3 I could never get 100%
Unless you have 2 GBA it is impossible to get 100% on the Seasons games because The 3DS Virtual Console is based as if you're playing on a Game Boy Color
Thanks to the password system, you only need 1 GBA. And someone made a password editor that you can use to get the GBA rings on Game Boy Color or Virtual Console. As long as that's ALL you use it for, I don't consider it cheating.
Majoras Mask was brutal for me mostly because of the timer.
Legend of Zelda 2 gives me some serious Super Mario Bros 2 vibes
TP took me 60 hours just to beat lmao those dungeons were hard and I am bad at puzzles.
i only watched to see where skyward sword would end up..
No chance
Oh and plus I found Breath of the Wild incredibly easy. Ocarina of time was much tougher.
How is skyward sword not on this list ? These damn motion controls are driving me crazy !!! 😬
The cdi ones are the hardest to complete without the restauration pc Version that has an easymode.
They are dificult and have terrible controls.
Honorable mention goes to Hyrule warriors definitive edition, definitely way too much to do
Four Swords should be number one because you literally need 4 players to even play it.
A Link to the Past is a pretty easy going game by any definition and for any era. 🤨
The only zelda games I remember 100percenting are mm/tp/ss/albw/alttp/lw
All the other games it was either too difficult or not fun in anyway.
You forgot to mention the Gallery in Wind Waker.
I honestly expected to see Majora's mask higher
breath of the wild wasnt hard to beat. The water temple was a headache compared to ocarina of time
I see no one making this list completed the Museum
That pushes Wind Waker over the top for sure
