I also experience painful breastfeeding (actually bleeding). I can still remember the tension and pain as she would latch on etc (and my daughter will be 19 April 6th). Enjoy both your girls!
Oh gosh. I can totally relate... I remember dealing with the cycle of bleeding- then scabbing- then worrying about not being able to heal.. ugh! Sucks some of the fun out of those early days. (no pun intended!)
beautyvlogcast You made a good decision going with the induction, group B positive strep babies are typically very very ill! Don't let anyone (especially yourself) take "natural" childbirth away from you just because you had an epidural! You did it naturally and looked like your epidural was on its last legs. Congratulations!
I really appreciate that you're not afraid to be totally explicit about this. So many women just say how great it is and never mention the gritty details that prepare you for birth. Thank you!
I've been a labor and delivery nurse for 23 years and I still tear up when I hear a good birth story. I am so glad things went smoothly for you. I think sharing your breastfeeding tips will be awesome. Too many women come in believing it is a natural easy process and end up frustrated and upset because, in reality, it is usually a learning experience for both mom and baby. Thanks for the shout to nurses. It's nice to hear! Although being blessed with the opportunity to share in welcoming a new life into the world is thanks enough.
What an amazing career you've got! I wanted to change over from adult nursing to Midwifery here in the UK but, I was born with a disability which had deteriorated over the years so I had to retire from my career early. Our labour and delivery care over here is so different to the U.S. Because our health care is free - we have the most basic (but excellent) care. We're not really allowed to go into hospital unless we're nearly fully dilated (due to bed shortages) and we're allowed a partner and one other person in the room (mum or sister). By this time, as the birth is imminent, pain relief is gas and air or pethidine injection. If the anaesthetist is in theatre, there's no way of having an epidural. If it's our first baby - we're allowed to stay in one night (if the midwife is worried) or it's home after 6 hours - so not a lot of time to rest. We're encouraged to make our own birth plans but, nothing ever comes of it. I can't help but feel how lucky women are in the U.S xxx
I wish I had been told to come in as soon as I felt myself going into labor. I also had group B strep. Unfortunately, I delivered too fast to get antibiotics. I labored 3 hours at home and only 2 hours at the hospital. My son developed sepsis from not being treated with antibiotics during delivery and passed at 4 days old. I am so grateful your doctor discussed this with you and baby Eve was born healthy and happy. Congratulations!
Thank you, but I didn't want this to be about me. Just wanted to let everyone know it can be very serious. I certainly didn't want to detract from Emily's beautiful birth story! I was fortunate enough to have another son 14 months later who is now 15 and the light of my life.
trina barber I am gbs + 2nd time around and my doc this time emphasized how important it is to be treated . almost scared me Bcus 1st time I was gbs and it was not explained this way but I will definitely make sure I am in asap. sorry for your loss
hawkeyegirl2003 praise the Lord for neonatal and OB nurses! I gave birth in January and LOVED all of my nurses. I actually just sent my delivery nurse a gift last week because she was so amazing.
Would love to see one big video updating us on how both you and baby Eve are doing. She's absolutely beautiful, and congratulations to you, Tyler, and big sister Belle!
You are so blessed to have your family present during labor and delivery. I had my mom and mother in law in the room with me. Unfortunately, my husband was in Iraq. When I see people share their stories, it's so bitter sweet. Bless you and your beautiful family, Emily!! 😘
Thank you for your homage to nurses, Emily! I'm a registered nurse and definitely feel we don't get thanked enough (even though I don't work in labor and delivery)! Xx
The ending was so touching. Thank you so much, Em, for appreciating what we do. True, we rarely receive a simple "thank you" from our patients. My respect for you definitely doubled for what you've said. I'm so happy for you and your family! Hi baby Eve and Belle! I pray that you two lovely girls grow to be as loving and kind as your mom
Your story made me a bit teary. You made me miss those first few hours with a new baby, but also so happy for you. I love hearing stories of women experiencing that. It's so amazing; nothing compares. Congratulations to you, Tyler, and Belle. Eve is adorable.
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing such a wonderful story! Had me in tears thinking of when my son was born, he is now 16 and in high school. Sometimes it seems like just yesterday that he came into our lives. I am on this earth to be his mom. Nothing more precious than your child. He will always be my #1.
I love when you do pregnancy/labor/post delivery videos. I so wish I had an outlet like this with my boys. They are 18 & 13. I remember feeling so isolated, especially with breast feeding. All we had were books and they always painted breastfeeding as this glorious and wonderful experience and for me it was not. I struggled and felt incredibly guilty about it. You telling your story...all the good, all the not so good, will undoubtably help many new moms. Pregnancy, birth and after the baby is born isn't all sunshine and roses and you know what, that's ok. I absolutely adore you and your gorgeous family.
This is a wonderful story! I too, elected to be induced for baby #2 and #3 due to my fears surrounding group b strep. I will also be induced with baby #4 coming up here in two weeks. So excited!!! And my inductions went very smoothly, thank God! I had an epidural with one and no epidural with the other one. :) planning to forego epidural this time as well.
I'm so happy for you. I've watched your videos for 5 (maybe 6?) years and I feel like you are truly one of the sweetest, most genuine people on TH-cam. Your babies are beautiful and your genuine love of your family is so warm and I teared up so many times. Much love to you and yours. ❤
Thank you for sharing your story, Emily! And I have to say, I really appreciate your shout out to nurses. Of course, great patients and families like yours make our job so much more enjoyable. God bless your family!
thanks for sharing your beautiful story and thankful that everything went smoothly! HUGE thanks for the nurse shout out!! I am a Neonatal ICU nurse and also attend high risk deliveries and I absolutely love and feel privileged to do what I do!
Why would anyone thumbs down this video? This is a beautiful story about new life, family and love. Thank you for sharing such an important moment in your life with all of us, Emily!
Thank you so much for this!! This video really calm my nerves for what I have in store for me next week! I'll be delivering my first baby!! I'll also have to get an induction and was super nervous about everything! I'm so glad everything turned out wonderful for you! I pray for the same quick delivery for myself!
I HAVE BEEN WAITING SO LONG AND NOW I'M CRYING 😂😍😭 I love how real and straightforward you are. I look forward to all of your videos and just hearing you talk. I'm so happy baby Eve and you are both healthy and I love seeing your snaps of Eve and Belle ❤️
I don't have any children nor do I plan to, but I love any life update you post. I've been watching your videos for many years and I just get so filled with joy that you now have two little blessings! Thanks for sharing Emily❤
Emily, thank you so much for sharing your wonderful family and such precious, private moments with us. I've always felt like you are my bff from next door, but times like this make me feel like you're my sister, a part of my family. So thank you so much again for sharing your life with me!
Isn't it crazy how one minute, life is amazing with one little girl, and then the next minute, there's ANOTHER GIRL, and you wonder how you even existed without her?!
I had strep b with my last birth too, with her though from feeling the first faint contraction to holding her was under 45minutes so the nurse was trying to put a line in my hand to administer the antibiotics while i was pushing her out! Big congrats on your growing family xx
Thank you, Emily, for sharing your heart with us!❤ This is a very sweet birth story, I'm so happy Baby Eve (and Belle) are healthy and whole!👑 God bless you and your precious family!💎🌹
I am so happy for you and your family! There is nothing like having a baby. My first had to be rushed out of the room and then to another hospital due to some breathing issues and a couple other problems she was having. The second time (about 7 months ago) was a lot better. I got to hold my baby right away and it was the best feeling in the world. There's nothing better than being a mother. Thank you for sharing your story! God bless you and your beautiful family!
Congratulations, Emily! You have a beautiful family. Belle and Eve are so fortunate to have you and Tyler for parents! Thanks so much for sharing your birth story.
Love that you shared your birth story with us. Two of my grandchildren were born at the same hospital, and could not have had better care. I've never met anyone who does not love Dr. Gates. Also I am happy you will be doing a video on breastfeeding. You have such a beautiful family, Emily. I could not he happier for you. Blessings..MaryEllen
Thank you for sharing your birthing story. Eve is beautiful! My daughter had torn my areola during breastfeeding at first. After a few months of pain it got better as well and I continued to nurse for 18months. Enjoy every minute!!
I had a HUGE ice cold root beer after being in labor for 30 hours. it was the best tasting drink of my life. there's no hunger or thirst like after being induced and giving birth lol.
That's exactly what I always tell people about tearing. I pushed for a really long time and when I started to feel the tearing feeling I was actually grateful because I knew it meant I was almost done. Ultimately it doesn't matter. I have a needle phobia and I was terrified of being stitched up and it was really not a big deal. My midwives convinced me to hold my son while I was being stitched (I faint sometimes due to the phobia and I was afraid of dropping him) and he was the best distraction in the world. Congratulations and I'm glad pushing was so quick!
You are so sweet and you were born to do this. To mother. As a former OB nurse I gotta say, you know your stuff and you sound like a bonafide nurse yourself! 😂😂😂 I am right with you on having family around you in the delivery room. It's not everyday you all get to witness the miracle of bringing life into this world. And a miracle it is. Love you, Emily and I am so happy to see you so blessed in this life, because if anyone deserves it it is you my sweet friend 🙏🏻🤗
Nice to hear about your story! I had my daughter (my first) on November 8th and only pushed for 15 minutes or so! My labor was very smooth, except for my epidural popping out at 9 cm and experiencing full labor for an hour until they were able to get a new epidural in me!!! You never appreciate that epidural as much until you lose it. OMG!!!
Thank you for sharing this! I am pregnant with my first and I love your honesty that gives the reality but also in a reassuring way. I cringed at the tear parts (I'm soooo scared!) but you also make a great point that you do what you gotta do to get baby out!
Thanks for sharing the arrival of Eve. She's just beautiful and I'm just so glad that everything went well. Continued prayers for your and your family!
I myself am a survivor of Group B strep. I contracted it from my mother when I was born; got very, very sick; and didn't respond to until the 3rd and final option for medication. I was Group B+ with my first two pregnancies, but not my 3rd. I got in there with plenty of time for the medication and all of my babies were born totally healthy. I pushed for an hour with my first, but only pushed 5x with my second, and for maybe 5min with my 3rd. It definitely gets easier each time. Every pregnancy is different. So glad you and Eve are both healthy, she's beautiful!
Loved watching your story. I'm tearing up remember my second baby and the moment that my daughter met her baby brother. I did it all natural though. No epidural! By the time I asked for it with my 1st it was too late, with the 2nd I just braved through. Talk about PAIN!! Holy Cow! Congratulations again on your beautiful girls!
Your a champ Emily, so glad you had another great experience. I too loved all the attention you get after child birth, the reassurance is calming, no matter if it's your first or third.
Get those videos up quick!!!! I'm 38 weeks with my first and need the breastfeeding tips!! I've been watching you for years and have loved seeing both of your pregnancies. Thanks for sharing! xx
I'd really love a breast feeding tips video. My third is due in sept and I've always had such a hard time breast feeding and I really want to go into this knowing as much as possible this time! Thank you for sharing your birth story! It sounds like a birth we all could hope for! Loving and relaxing (somewhat) haha!! Eve is beautiful!!!
You're such an inspiration Emily! I have been watching your videos for years and you're such a good mom! I aspire to be like you once I have my own kids ❤ thank you for being you!
What a beautiful story! It's truly amazing what a woman's body can do. The miracle of life is something so special and I'm like you, the more the merrier! I would have wanted my entire family with me, unfortunately all my girls were C-section babies. I can remember wanting my mom with me so badly but of course I couldn't neglect my husband. I love that you don't hold anything back with your birth stories. Yes, it's wonderful and precious but yes, it's also painful and exhausting. Somehow our bodies and minds forget that horrible part and allow us to go on and have more. Thank you Emily for sharing your life with us! Congratulations on sweet baby Eve to you and Tyler, Belle must be beside herself with her baby sister.
Beautiful! Emily you brought me to happy tears again! SO thankful everything worked out so wonderfully....God is SO good! Eve is beautiful just like her big sister Belle! xoxo Dianne
I have been looking forward to this video. Thank you for sharing. Can I make a request please, the next time you are with your mom and Emily please post a ladies of the family (Your mom, Emily, You, Belle, Eve...) family photo to your social media.
I was looking forward to hearing your birth story. I delivered my baby boy Colin on January 16th. He was 11 days early. Thankfully a very easy delivery. And my nurses were amazing as well. Can't wait to see more updated videos on how you are making out. Your family is so adorable. 👨👩👧👧
My Daughter also had to have the antibiotics etc and baby was perfectly fine as well. I just love how you give us your birth stories. Thank you for sharing you life and beautiful family with us.
Love your story! 😍 it's such a miracle. I had my own fast labor 1 week ago today. Very similar to your story, but a 2nd degree episiotomy :( it was tough! But one week out, I'm feeling much better and healing very well. You're right- it doesn't matter when it comes time. You just want the baby to be here!
Also, YES to the nursing video. Currently nursing my son right now and yes, it's been pretty painful! Visited a lactation consultant yesterday which was so helpful. Would love to hear your experiences/advice!
Emily, you are so sweet. You have such a beautiful family. Such a miracle!!!!!! Made me cry. I am 58 and we have one child. She is 36. Children are such a blessing. You look beautiful as always. Blessings!!!! 🌺
You looked gorgeous giving birth! And your husband looked SO HAPPY when he was holding Eve. I'm so glad that you had an incredible birth and that your family was there to welcome Eve to the world.
Congratulations again on your beautiful family! I'm just sitting here with my coffee, 16 weeks pregnant, totally crying lol. I'm so nervous but so SO excited to experience my first birth! Thank you for sharing your story and I look forward to your breastfeeding and update videos!
Scarlett, How are you now, after posting about looking forward to giving birth one week from now? ( a couple maybe 3, 4 years ago) Hope you and your baby are doing well🌹❣
25 years ago this past January, our first baby boywas born. This was before testing for Group B and to make a long, terrible story short, our baby almost 10 pound, strong perfect baby was in the NiCU for 2 weeks before passing away. Moms like me were part of the push for testing for Group B, and I am so so very happy that it is done regularly now. We had three beautiful wonderful children after Jamie. Our first daughter will graduate grad school in May and be an architect, the second daughter will get married a few weeks later, and our 'baby' son will graduate high school at the end of May. God is good, everything does happens for a reason, for His will, and according to His plan. I've followed you channels for a long time, and this video has really touched me. :) Lots of love, Tamatha
I really loved this video. You are such an inspiration to me. My babygirl is 7 months old and during my pregnancy I watched your preg. vlogs over and over again. Eve is so adorable and Belle is the cutest little princess ever. XO from Austria
My mam and I always have a little moment when you post pictures of your beautiful girls! It's so interesting to hear about your experiences, I really appreciate learning from you. Thank you!
Really looking forward to your breastfeeding tips video! I'm still nursing my 9 month old and man, it's the most rewarding and also one of the very hardest things to do. Nobody really tells you how hard it can be!
You and Tyler are adorable! How cute was it when he came in and told you that you looked lovely! So sweet! Best wishes to you both and your two gorgeous girls! xx
I'm super happy for you and your whole family. Congratulations! I've been watching your videos for so long but never commented before. I gave birth to my baby girl 10 days after you. I'm happy to go through the same experience as you at the same time 😊 God bless you and your family always.
Ahh, loved this. My husband and I are hoping to get pregnant this year and I really enjoyed hearing your story. Looking forward to more videos like this where I can learn something. You can never be too prepared!
Shout out to all of the nurses at memorial hospital of Carbondale for sure!! Dr Bishop delivered both of my boys there and the nurses were amazing both times♡ best experiences of my live!! Eve is absolutely gorgeous, thanks so much for sharing her birth story!!!
I wasn't going to click on this. Another birth story I thought. But i love your videos and you are such a good communicator so I clicked on it and I am glad I did. It was beautiful and I cried. Your husband is precious and your girls are blessed to have you as a mother. Xoxo
I am very interested in the breastfeeding tips video! I am having my second child soon (due May 31) and breastfeeding with my first child was a nightmare, so I am not looking forward to breastfeeding this one. I am, at least, gonna try.
megdalena01 I agree ☝️ I am very interested in the breastfeeding video I am due June 21 with my 3rd. I couldn't nurse my first baby. The second I will admit I quit in the 4th month. it was so painful the crack nipples were just unbearable I tried so hard to be a good soldier but I was miserable it was taking away from me enjoying my lil angel so I stopped. I will be waiting for any tips Emily or anyone has.
megdalena01 The same thing happened with me. One thing I learned is the whole thing about the upper palette of the mouth. As soon as they open their mouth to latch on you are supposed to swiftly stick your nipple further into their mouth. There is a hard palette everyone has on the roof of their mouths that make it impossible to breast feed comfortably. By doing that movement you push your nipple past that palette to a softer area of the mouth. I didn't know this with my son so when he breastfed it would hurt like hell. My nipple would get very flat and red.
Really loved this video & how honest you are there's still so much i dont know about this topic but as a newlywed who would like to start a family soon this was so helpful!
I love your channels, thank you for sharing Eve's birth story. I'm currently 33 weeks with twin boys and plan to at least try breastfeeding- I would appreciate the tips video above anything but that's just me being a nervous FTM 🙂
I pushed for 3 hours. Glad yours go quicker! I'm all for the "stork" bringing them ;)
lol seriously! Where's the stork?! :D
I also experience painful breastfeeding (actually bleeding). I can still remember the tension and pain as she would latch on etc (and my daughter will be 19 April 6th). Enjoy both your girls!

I had a HUGE ice cold root beer after being in labor for 30 hours. it was the best tasting drink of my life. there's no hunger or thirst like after being induced and giving birth lol.
Wow, 30 hours! That must have been exhausting. Were you awake and involved for 30 hours? Still, you were in the prime of your life, though, I hope.
OMG!!!
Aww this made me so emotional! I've been watching your videos for years and it's so nice to watch your family grow! Congrats on baby Eve! ❤️
I'm so glad everything was so calm and went according to plan. This was a great story. Congrats on your two girls!
Thanks so much for this video. One of only a few "real" birth stories I've herd.
I love the thumb nail photo of both of you. Congratulations
I'm so glad Belle was there for her little sister's arrival into the world! My love and best wishes to you all.
Thank you for being so open about child birth. I wish there had been something like this when I had my children.
I can't even express how happy I am for you.. We love you so much!!❤️
Get those videos up quick!!!! I'm 38 weeks with my first and need the breastfeeding tips!! I've been watching you for years and have loved seeing both of your pregnancies. Thanks for sharing! xx

I'm a nursing student and I just learned about all this so this was very interesting to me! Thank you for sharing, I'm so glad Eve was born healthy!

I love it when Tyler comes into the room to say hi or good-bye. You guys are so cute ❤ congratulations on your beautiful family.
Beautiful story. I have seen couple of child birds from close friends. I know how magical it is. ❤

Belle and Eve's birth stories are my fave videos. 😢 I cry every time!!!
Congratulations on sweet baby Eve to you and Tyler, Belle must be beside herself with her baby sister.
what a beautiful story thank you for sharing I know the births of my 3 children are my favorite memories having a baby is a true blessing from God😊
Your hair and makeup look terrific! A huge congratulations on the birth of your 2nd beautiful daughter.
( a couple maybe 3, 4 years ago) Hope you and your baby are doing well🌹❣
This is such a beautiful story, and you seem so happy and put together. Congrats on your girls!
Thank you for sharing, Emily. I love birth stories.
By the way, usually I comment/like under my other account Choux Cake Studio. Just so you might recognize me from previous comments! :)
I'm so happy for you Emily! An amazing birth story!
It's out of subject here but i need to say your makeup is stunning. It flatters your eyes so much wow!

I will be waiting for any tips Emily or anyone has.
megdalena01 breastfeeding was a lot smoother with my second baby!
megdalena01 The same thing happened with me. My nipple would get very flat and red.
megdalena01 Another tip I learned is to lightly rub the nipple on their lip or mouth to let them know to open their mouth.
Ditto! I'm due with #2 in September! I'm terrified of trying to nurse again!
