    A rack is souch a practical thing to have. It was the first thing I added to my scooter. Im too lazy to do it my self so I had the dealer put it on when I turned the bike in for the first service. I use it all the time and I also got a top box that is easy to put on and off wich also is very practical.😎

    I wanted to get back with you about my scooter. It's the Honda ADV 150
    I plan on keeping it because I use it for everything , back and forth for work in the rain , snow , etc. and it's very fun . However I plan on buying the ever so beautiful Vespa 300 .
    I think it will be the total package , so to speak , and just ride it on nice dry days. Thanks again

      Wow! I’m a fair weather rider. I do light rain, I will ride in cold, but I will never ride in both! 🤣
      (And I bought a GTS this weekend. More to come!)

    Way to go! You did a great job, Renee! Thanks for another video! I rode again in the parking lot we go to. A little skiddish to ride since I fell but just decided to take my own time with this. Hubby agrees. But it's so fun to watch your experiences you share. You are my inspiration to keep scootin' onward! :)

    Very cool. Nice job and addition with the new rack. It’s interesting seeing how much it changes the appearance of the scooter.

    Congrats on the install! Removing those Kymco seats can be a pain in the butt, but not impossible. If you have an under the seat light you have to disconnect that too.

    One thing you will notice after getting a vespa the huge and I mean HUGE after market gear that you can buy compared to anything built in the far east ,vespa do their own range but you`ll find a large market out there of aftermarket gear for vespas

    Why take the seat off? The seat doesn't interfere with trunk storage removal.
    I think you will find your Top Box a weak design - l do my own stainless welding so making it strong enough to carry 25 pounds weight in a GIVI over a rough road is no problem. The GIVI locking quick disconnect is a great feature. The GIVI Top Box comes in two sizes - 32 & 42 litre.
    As l use satellite communications, and l like truck size signal lights, wiring quick disconnect power connections matched the GIVI features.
    I used stainless steel bolts, with Allan key sockets, to improve security - harder to remove than with a wrench.

    First, thanks for this channel. It's been very informative. I bought a 2022 Kymco Like 150i about a week ago and have been looking for a rear rack. Shad indicated they couldn't guarantee their rack would fit - and wouldn't accept returns if it didn't. Prima sells a rack (SKU 0200-0203) that looks a lot like yours and one vendor was confident it would fit my 2022 model. The Givi importer in North Carolina was also confident that that the Givi rack you suggested would fit my scooter. Right now it's down to (what appears to be) the rack you installed or the Givi rack you suggested. Question - Do you think mounting a box to your rack was difficult enough that the Givi matching rack/box combo might have an edge?

    Thank you so much for your videos, I am from Puerto Rico and have always been interested in scooters, and these videos help me even more! In the future, I will get a scooter and use all your tips!! Your blog is amazing too, again, thank you!!
    One question, do you know if there is an online website that ships Kymco scooters? It'd help greatly since from what I know, there is no Kymco dealer here. Thank you in advance

      I’m so thrilled you are eager to hop on! I’m here just to help normalize scooter riding where it isn’t normal, so thank you for showing up & asking questions! ❤️
      I was under the impression that dealers aren’t supposed to ship directly, BUT scooter-stop.com says they do. I know nothing about that biz, but it is worth a shot!

    I love your videos! I'm from the DFW area of Texas, and I really want to get a scooter for my daily commute. I'm kinda nervous about starting out, because I fell off of a motorcycle once. I've been looking at a lot of different scooters and I'm really interested in a Kymco. But I'm really short (5'1) so trying to find the right one is challenging.

    • @ScooterNewbie

      Thanks for the kind words! I was terrified initially because I had seen horrendous aftermaths of accidents in the past. I realized all of those incidents could have been minimized with gear. So go to a class if you haven’t, practice & gear up! I’m rooting for you!
      As far as height, I’m going to get my sister (5’ even) on our scooters next time she comes down. She won’t ride, but the photos help. For height sitting at the dealer, I felt most comfortable on the Buddy, Buddy Kick & Lance Cali/Havana. I am flat footed and no adjustment on the seat at all needed.
      That said, when you ride, it’s not the same at all. I was weirded out by the Kymco at my height, but I ride it all the time now. My feet are not flat footed on the ground at a light, but I scootch forward a bit & push myself back when I get going. I barely even notice I do this now, but I thought I’d throw that out there in case you find yourself in love with the Kymco.

    I had a top box on my first scooter, about 10 years ago. It came with the scooter, so I put it on. I took it off a few days later when I found that it made the scooter extremely sensitive to cross winds on the highway. Scooters are light and most of their weight is on the rear to begin with, anything up high and hanging off the back in the wind can blow you all over the road in a gusty wind or being passed by big vehicles. I've had a pretty big top box on a motorcycle and never had that problem though.

    • @ScooterNewbie
      @ScooterNewbie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s good to know! I just put the top box on, so I’ll pay attention. I’m not on highways, but I don’t want to push my luck with crosswinds either!

      Yes! The flexibility of the rack has been handy so far!

  • @DivergentDroid
    @DivergentDroid 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Amazing that the "rack" itself is actually just a small extension on the side handles you already had but they had to sell you the whole unit as one piece. They could just put a rack on every scooter sold but of course that way they can charge more money. It's not like it sticks out or anything where it would actually be in the way if you didn't want to use the rack. Great Job !

    • @ScooterNewbie
      @ScooterNewbie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks, Droid! Or do you prefer Divergent? 😂
      You are so right. It hurt to spend that much for what it is. The whole scooter was what…3k? The rack was 5% of a form of transportation?! Crazy. 😆

      @@ScooterNewbie Call me anything you like, some call me DD, just don't call me late for dinner. Ah ha.. I hope you get some good use out of the rack.. perhaps get a top box for it.. I hope that won't cost you an arm and leg too.

    • @ScooterNewbie
      @ScooterNewbie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DivergentDroid Ha!! It did cost an arm but not a leg for the top box. I'm not gonna lie.... I'm intimidated to install it because I need to drill through the 'not-so-universal' bracket to get everything lined up. This weekend for sure....

    • @DivergentDroid
      @DivergentDroid 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ScooterNewbie I know it can be intimidating if you aren't used to doing it. Here are some tips that may help you. You may want to use some masking tape to keep the drill bit from "walking", moving out of place as you start the hole. Also, use a much smaller drill bit to make a pilot hole first then go up a bit size or two reaming out the holes until you can use the bit you are gonna finish with. You should use firm steady pressure while you drill but pulse the trigger on the drill to keep the bit from overheating and to make sure you are going slow enough and still on target. Be sure not to angle the drill bit and that you are going straight in. You may also want to be sure you have the right type of drill bit/s for the material you are drilling into as some can be better for certain metals. General purpose bits may work but if you have a lot of holes you may dull a bit and need to use another bit or two to finish the job. I hope this helps and wish you the best of luck on the project.
