Yasmyn I know exactly how you feel .I have a son who has almost lost his life twice to alcohol and drugs. He was on lifesupport twice and pull thought it. He is living with me right now which isn't easy. We lost his father and my husband seven years ago . So it's just me ,his sister which has a big family and a brother which just got marry. I told him he could stay with me but the first time he screw up he is out o. The streets . As I can't and will not go through his alcohol and drug addiction. He has been clean 5 months and I pray he keeps it up. I will put you ,your Mom and family on my pray list. I know prayers work as the Doctors told us that my son would be in a nurse home in diapers and a trait the rest of his life that was 4 years ago . He is doing great . Just like he was when he was younger before he started with his addiction. I love you and your little family .

While I think people are being genuine with their comments let’s be honest that people are seeking snippets of someone’s life. While Yasmin is trying to change the course of her life which is great at the end of the day Yasmin is still very young to be handling the amount of everyday life can be stressful. It’s wonderful to tell someone how great they are on TH-cam but at the end of the day I’ve noticed that Yasmin doesn’t take constructive criticism at all. Her way of dealing with any type of a difference of opinion is to delete or block the person. While we all make mistakes & no one is perfect learning from other’s mistakes are a great way to improve our lives.
Sorry but Yasmin seems to go from one thing to another. She herself can’t fix everything. Yasmin is right that her GMA isn’t helping Yasmin’s mom that’s for sure.
This baby of her moms has the best chance to be placed for adoption. Having 3 kids of her own needs to paramount.
It’s hard to believe that the state hasn’t stepped in. The story told about Yasmin’s mom nodding off & holding a newborn is proof the poor baby needs a better home.
It would be tragic if somehow something happened to the little guy. It would be horrific if Yasmin got wrapped up in this mess & her own kids were comprised because Yasmin was trying to do the right thing.
In other words Yasmin you not be careful here. CPS could very well get involved here & there’s a lot of kind genuine people like Yasmin that could end up losing her own kids. Of course it’s okay to get mad at me for making this comment BUT Yasmin you have every right to be afraid of not only for that poor baby but for your own family.
Yasmin don’t let your heart ( even though it is in the right place)
Sounds like what’s going on with the baby!!! Just be careful because as you say things could happen that you are trying to prevent.
It’s great that you’re trying to do the right thing but at the end of the day your kids & Logan are your first priority.
You don’t tell a little kid about issues they don’t understand or can’t control. This baby after all can’t understand as a child what is going on.
He should be placed with a stable family member or for adoption.

I have been a social worker in the child welfare system for 8.5 years now. First, I am so sorry for your brother and the seriously unfortunate circumstances that he came into the world. Addiction is terrible in every way but I always find a silver lining when I see family members step up, intervene and do the right thing for the vulnerable infants who have been negatively impacted. Thank you for posting this and sharing your story. He is going to have such a better future because of what you and your family members have done.

I encourage you guys to look into the Early Intervention program in the state and county that your brother will be living in. I'm adopted and my birthmother was an addict. I grew up with what they call FAS (Fetal Alcohol Syndrome) and yes it does affect me mentally and physically, but you just have to show your little brother as he grows up that nothing can stop him no matter what. I'm 21 and 4'8 I'm so short because of my developmental issues that are no fault of my own. Just stay strong and make sure you just remind him all his life that he is loved, and nothing can stop him.

I’m so proud of you! Even when you know it’s in your brother’s best interest, I’m sure upsetting your mom/hurting her feelings isn’t easy. However, you ARE doing the right thing, and this tedious court process will be worth it to change his life! He is going to see how loved he is when he gets older. As a foster mom to a non-relative baby, it’s heartwarming to see such a loving and sacrificial sister like yourself, and your family, rallying around him! Keep fighting for his best interest! People like your grandma or a caseworker might tell you to step back. If something doesn’t sit right in your soul, don’t listen to them! Follow your gut. It can be easy to tell yourself, “These are the experts. What do I know?” But like you said yourself, people can be manipulated. The state also doesn’t know your mom like you do. They might care, but they also have tons of other cases. Make your voice heard! You’ve got this!! ❤️

Your babies, siblings, mom and entire extended family are so lucky to have such a sensible, emotionally-mature, beautifully-supportive beacon of hope. I cannot even begin to imagine how difficult this situation is for you, please make sure you’re taking care of yourself in these times - you won’t be able to keep fighting if you’re running on empty.

When you did the pregnancy test it said ‘boy’ and then when you did the second one it said ‘girl’. I think its your destiny to have the baby boy in your family. You did so much (more than his mom) and i think we are not call our moms ‘mom’ because of biogical bond, we are call them ‘mom’ because they are acting like a mom. You are the mom for your brother. You are so strong and Logan is so understanding. You are the best!🤍

I had a very similar situation. It was my cousin's twin babies. We ended up fighting for custody and won. But it took almost 3 years.
The court let us know that if she started doing well, she could very easily get them back. They told us that she could be doing good for 6 or 9 months and then relapse and we would start the whole thing over again.
We finally talked her into signing over her rights. Our lawyer told us that if she had not done that, we could be fighting for the full 18 years.
The courts are all about reunification. And it can be a good thing. But it can also be a really bad one.
They're 7 now. And they are so precious to me and my husband. We weren't wanting more children but I really feel they completed our family.
I am praying for you guys. I know what it's like to have a mom that's a drug addict and a dysfunctional family. I don't know you but you look like you're doing a pretty good job. I know am a stranger but I am so proud of you.

Your grandmother needs to kick her out of the house. She is enabling your mom & will love her to death - period. It’s incredibly hard but addicts need boundaries & consequences. There is no amount of love or “help” from loved ones that will convince her to change. I’m so sorry that you have to deal with this. Everyone will tell you that you are “so strong” & that they “don’t know how you do it”. Just know it’s ok to not feel strong. To be angry, overwhelmed & to not be ok ❤️

It’s refreshing to see people say it’s okay to not be strong, not feel okay, etc. In my own personal circumstances, it’s been triggering to have my friends tell me “you’re so strong”.

    • @samd.2207
      @samd.2207 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

I was going to say exactly that. As long as she’s around (the mom) and allowed to participate the drama is never-ending. You will always worry about her but the worry is limited to her and not the siblings. Even though the grandma is taking care of the older siblings they are not unscathed by the moms problem because she is still there.

    • @tonyag69

100% agree. We had to finally kick out our youngest daughter that is an addict. We have tried helping her for the last 7 yrs. After she had a son and kept leaving and coming back home we filed for custody of her son when he was 2 yrs old. He's always lived with us since the day he was born. Fortunately she didn't use drug's during her pregnancy and He's a happy well adjusted smart 7yr old who know we are his grandparents and who is mom is but he chooses to call us mom and dad and her by her first name. She's not allowed to live with us and we only let her she him if she's sober which isn't often. Some people have said I have a cold heart for not helping her. I tried for many year's and she stole over 60,000. Dollars from us and doesn't care or get better. I'm done contributing to her killing herself and my Grandson comes first.

My next door neighbors daughter has an addiction to drugs and had a baby a year ago. Her mother took her son into her home and is in the process of adopting him since the father just got sent back to prison for 10 years for theft and his mother lives on other people's couches all the time. This little boy is the most precious thing. He's such a good kid despite all the drugs that were in his system when he was born. I will pray for your little brother and hope that he gets to live in a drug free home.
