I think that a lot of what we [as a political voting block] want as Asian-Americans are in fact a healthy wallet, a safe place to be, and a healthy system that tailors to our communities. Unfortunately, I think that Asians as a voting block are frustrated and that I am also in this camp of politics too. To begin to understand the typical Asian, you'd need to understand the recent history in Asia. Harris was literally shoehorned into the role of presidential candidate which did not sit well into the Asian community because as a geographic block, Asia tends to have their successor chosen by the state/party. For these examples, North Korea has the Kim Family that still holds onto power and is still running the Hermit Kingdom even after the war ended. The Chinese people that identify as mainlanders still have a state party election where only a select few are even in contention to be voted into power (Xi Jinping is a princeling of the CCP). South Korean frontrunners tend to have the son or daughter of a previously known corrupt official be a candidate for stand-in for election. Vietnam is literally defined as a leader elected by the party. The Philippines is a nation that is rife with father-son brand of politics. Thailand is literally ruled by a King (albeit modeled after the West) that doesn't take criticism or a joke. India literally had been fueled in the past by a member of the Gandhi family. Pakistan has recently shoehorned in a celebrity as a politician because the party found him overwhelmingly popular. The Saudi family in the middle east is a literal family running a nation. Russia and Türkiye (Formerly Turkey) have had one major politician to really rule their country since the 1990's. Central Asian leaders such as the one in Uzbekistan live in a dictatorship. Singapore had Lee Kwan Yew and a one party state. ROC/Taiwan had a military government for much of its early time as a modern state. Japan suffered from occupation by Americans until the 1950's (and the US still has a base in Okinawa). And these are just some of the diverse places in Asia that have the fundamental paradox. Lots of people from these groups definitely think about dictatorship as one of the reasons why they avoid the Harris Campaign. Trump was the type of person who wanted power with January 6, 2021 being a turning point in the political minds of most Americans. A lot of Asians do come from war-torn areas and this is just a cruel reminder of wartime to some people that I know personally. Vietnam (along with the neighbors Laos and Cambodia) is the most well-known demographic in this example, but there are several more. The Philippines came out from Rodrigo Duterte's war on drugs and the amount of blood on the streets clearly affected the public that moved out of the Philippines within the last 10-ish years. Korea has been in a stalemate since the 1950's though people have worked to try to peacefully settle the issue outright. China is technically at war (albeit politically) with the cross-straight relationship deteriorating and has had military incursions across the Himalayas. The whole Bharat (Formerly named India)/Pakistan conflict has been around since forever. Myanmar/Burma today is going through a power struggle. The majority of the middle east nations are at odds with another via proxy conflicts (and dragging some entire nations alongside it, not limited to Yemen, Iraq, and Syria). Kuwait suffered in the limited mission of the 1990's. Afghanistan suffered after the US straight-up went in and did a lot of damage to the infrastructure. The caucuses went through some military action (Some may even say war) with the displacement of people in South Ossetia. And to return back to Cambodia, there's the Khmer Rouge by Pol Pot. And this definitely does stir up some sort of emotion for people that went through the level of violence to get to where they are as people today. Many of these groups also dislike Trump's brand. To add complexity to the issue, there are people that have some single-issue opinions that would be juxtaposed into the patterns of which they vote. For example, someone who could normally be considered right-wing that has visited the motherland may find that air quality in many regions of Asia can be very subpar at best. The best practices in which the air quality improves is by having more stringent standards for environmental protections, which a lot of people in South Asia, Southeast Asia, and East Asia constantly are being reminded of. Or maybe you'd be the type of person that would normally be left-leaning and would like to clean up the streets with more enforcement officers on the street and a reformed, stricter criminal justice system. I also know that there are plenty of Asians who do vote and are politically opposed to other family members (IE Parent & Child, Siblings, Cousins, etc.) because they grew up in drastically different situations which call for more nuanced opinions.| So neither side really would fit the best mold of the stereotypical first generation of Asian-Americans. And the second generation is definitely more critical of what has happened because they latched onto some key policies that were fed to them in childhood, like in the instance of the 1980's Ronald Regan's Trickle-Down economic policy or Clinton's third way style of political branding of the 1990's or the post 9-11 environment of the later Bush (W's) years. Like it or not, communities all across America want to be represented by a "Person most like me" and not just Asians. In this instance, I think this is a failure among politicians to appear to be if not actually genuine to the people in their communities.
Voting for your self-interest is a lot of crap. You can't vote for "A" when you're poor and then vote against it when you become successful. How about you do the right thing and have some empathy? What's wrong with giving more when you have more? Asians against affirmative action in school admission? Oh please. Just suck it up already. New immigrants are a majority in their former countries. There's no civil rights. They don't understand the struggles of other people. They immigrated into America, took advantage of the infrastructure that lots of people sacrificed for, and proceeded to crap on others. What a bunch of ungrateful losers! They are just country shopping. If something else better comes along, they'll abandon the US in a heartbeat.
TLDR Both major brands of politics leave a very bitter aftertaste to many Asian-Americans. Politicians have failed Asian-Americans and need to check with the history of why Asian-Americans would potentially vote the way they do. Sometimes it comes down to a single issue and politicians need to recognize that.

I stopped voting for democrats a long time ago. I voted for Ron Paul in 2008 and 2012, then for Trump 3 times. Democratic policy is all identity politics and if you think about it, it's just a fancy word for racist policies. Most of the social injustice actually came from the Democrat side, the people attacking Asians were mostly black when democrats softened crime. Affirmative action is injustice aimed against Asians mostly and again a democratic policy. All these identity politics are just racist policies designed to divide not unite.

I'm Filipino American from Texas, and yes, I voted for President Trump three times. Im sick and tired of liberal idiots ruining America like they know everything that's wrong with this country.
Interesting! Every time a Republican President has been office since George Bush, they run the American economy into the ground and a Democratic President had to come in to clean their mess. If you think Trump is going to get rid of inflation and fix the economy, there’s a bridge in New York I’d like to sell ya.
Any normal citizen, Asian Americans especially, should not be beholden to any political party or candidate. They should see how the parties are operating and see what policies the candidates are offering and make an informed decision. I’m sorry but this is America and when the DNC obviously circumvented the primaries to nominate their own candidate, it was the last straw for me. I want an America first president and admin, and Trump obviously stands for that no matter his other shortcomings.
Most Americans voted to remove the current administration due to how terrible the last 4 years have been. Kamala has been vice president for the last 4 years has not done anything significant to stir America towards a better direction. And she has consistently failed to provide any answers on all of her interviews on how she would improve situations for American citizens and America as a country. Her entire campaign ran on shaming people into voting for her. Even now that she's lost the election, her side along with her supporters are once again playing the blame game. Pointing fingers at this person, that person, this group, and that group. Mature Americans are tired and just tired and done with this shit.
You nailed it. It's incredible how the left thinks Kamala is good politician while blaming the rest of us for voting right. Kamala has no skin in the game. Even some liberals like Bill Maher called her out. She says she supports 2nd Amendment and lies about Trump wanting to take away our guns. She clearly does not support 2nd Amendment even though she owns a gun herself. She says she supports no tax on tips which is the idea she stole from Trump because Trump had said it first. Crimes, inflation, socialism, affirmative action are the things most Asians despise. As for me, I just hate Democrats. 63 genders, preferred pronouns, and biological men in womens sports are not my thing.

Asian support for Trump can vary greatly depending on age and origin. If it is 1st generation Asian and they come from a communist country, they will likely vote Trump. This generation of Asians tend to value and prioritize economics (low inflation), education (anti--affirmative action), and crime reduction (pro-law enforcement), which are things that Biden/Harris are weak on. But for Asian groups that are born and raised in the US and went through the US education system in the 2000's, it becomes much more varied as many will latch onto ideas like intersectionality rather than take on the values of their parents.

Great insights as always. I would love to see a ranked choice voting system that Andrew Yang speaks of - it feels like having the option to vote for a more viable 3rd or 4th candidate would get us away from the existing parties who seem to be compromised by corporations and the military industrial complex.
Exactly! The Trump voters don’t realize that Trump is just a crony capitalist and tows the same line as the democrats. He is just more blatant and rude about it
I was very disappointed the Filipino people didn't vote enough for Manny Pacquiao and make him the president of the Phillipines. He would have fixed the problems in the Philippines. I travel to the Philippines often and always have a great time.
Good for you, in the meantime the kkk is now recruiting new members and spread pamflets saying people should look around looking for immigrants to be deported and to report them. Just look in the mirror if your facial characteristics would trigger a kkk member and see you as an immigrant.
4th gen Japanese and Korean mix here in Hawaii who voted for Donald Trump. Economy, safety, America first, getting rid of the whole woke agenda, are just some of the issues that were highlights of why I voted Trump. Multiple police departments throughout the country have been unable to reach their recruitment goals for the past decade in major cities. There are two choices we can go down to tackle this issue: 1. I understand the frustration of voters in the US. Despite the touting that the US is a democratic country, so much is happening to maneuver political everything there due to big money. This has curtailed political choices down to only two parties, and even between these two parties, much is bi-partisan. I wish all my Asian-American friends the best of luck.
Its not really about ''Do Asians support Trump ?''. But the questions should be what type of Asians in the US support Trump ? Because the Asian population is very diverse and some Asian groups in the US are re-classfied as Hwhte-Americans like Central Asians ( Kazachtan, Uzbekistan, Turkemistan etc.) But also many Western Asians ( Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, Turkey etc.) Then we have Eastern Asians who also have diverse political backgrounds and their relationship with either Democrats or Republicans. Vietnamese Americans who are anti-Communist wil most likely vote for Republicans then Democrats because the Democrats are so called considered a ''socialist'' party. Where as Chinese Americans wil most likely vote Democrat because the Republican party is very latent anti-Chinese and spews alot Sinophobic hate and rethoric. Fillipinos are also very religious and dont want to deal with the progressive-liberal LGBT+ elements in society and therefore more religious and culturally conservative.
Basically everyone means East or Southeast Asian when they say "Asian". It comes down to culture. No one is thinking Lebanon when someone mentions Asian
@@JJ-si4qh Actually people do. As an ABC I know a lot of Chinese people who vote republican for the same reason as the Vietnamese people. China is a communist country as well, and don’t want socialism either.
I think I'm one of the few Asians that voted for Trump on this main reason alone, I am anti-establishment. In 2004 I supported Bush because I believed in the propaganda Iraq War of the Republicans. In 2008 I liked Obama (didn't vote because I had just moved to Texas and didn't register to vote yet), but he expanded the war into Syria. In 2014 I didn't want to vote for Obama or Romney (because he's a war monger neo-con). In 2016 I supported Bernie, and the Dems screwed him over. Then I saw that Trump, although has problems, he was at least a populist and anti-establishment, so I began supporting him since then.
Pandemic opened my eyes to the gas-lighting and negligent Dem Party. Anti-Asian hate crimes weren't addressed and politically ignored. And that red-pilled me. AND the country is never worse I've seen in 50 years. Trump landslide was inevitable. Asians came out overwhelmingly for Trump!

I can’t help who people vote for, but I can certainly share with you the difference. Conservative Asians will still attend family functions and speak to family regardless of how they vote. Liberal family members won’t attend family gatherings where conservative family are present. Liberals are so divisive, it’s terrible. This is why I never discuss politics.
Can there be no valid reason that people are removing themselves from family gatherings? In a very real sense, a vote for Trump puts marginalized groups in harm's way, especially if you're not white, a woman, and/or a member of the LGBTQ community, or depend on the ACA for your healthcare. For many, this wasn't "just politics," it was a matter of literal survival or their ability to remain in the country (even if you're a naturalized citizen, but especially if you were a DACA child) and not have the specter of deportation constantly following them every day. You may count it as a virtue that conservatives can still remain in the presence of liberals, but people who step away no longer have the luxury to compartmentalize, and instead of judging them for it, I ask that you at least try to understand why.

Idealistic imaginary scenario would be 3, 4, 5, or more legit factions and would work together where not anybody gets everything they want.

Otherwise candidates can simply go to the biggest states and largest cities, and ignore the rural and suburban areas.

But while other PoCs are completely ok with living a "fast" life, Asian Americans never truly bought into it. Why? Asian cultures globally pretty much run on Delayed Gratification, always have. Asians value grit, hard work, discipline, competence. These things have been so far abandoned by the Left today, almost to a point of no return. Illegals flowing in, handouts, crime growing, police defunded, asian businesses looted, poor economy. Folks were fed up. Trump made the most sense. Lets hope folks made the right choice.
@paulie4450...Your point is very biased to be honest. Asian cultures are not similiar to each other aswell. Koreans operate very different to Pakistanis who operate very different to Filipinos who operate very dififerent to Indonesians or Malaysians. The point of Asian cultures being focused on Delayed Gratification, value grit, hard work, discipline, competence. Can be said for Africans aswell for example like Nigerians, Ghanians, Kenyans in the US and they most of the time don't vote at all. Those values dont make you a liberal or conservative per se. I see this values among Asians, Africans, Eastern Europeans. Politics is about policies and serving the interest of lobby groups and interest groups. Asians voting for Kamala or Trump wont make any real difference because the people who really make the big decisions are the policymakers, think thanks, institutions. The electorate is more a popularity contest and its clear that Hwhite American women and men love Donald Trump no matter what he says about Asians.
Voting for Trump without truly understanding what his values are and instead just listening to rhetoric will be your biggest mistake. The guy is a crook who is selling snake oil. He just tells each demographic what they want to hear. None of it consistent.
@@pheenix1976 That is a point many Asians in the US dont understand. They dont understand how American politicals is also about foreign policy. Trumps Republicanism is very concerned with the rise of Asia as a new geo-economic power block. Their focus is also to have more dominance in the Indo-Pacific, many in his camp have strong anti-Chinese sentimens and also anti-Asian sentiments but they know how to engage in politics which is business at the end of day. Use Japan, South Korea and the Philipeans as base to serve American interest in Asia. I notice alot Asian Americans have no deep understaning of politics, international relations and geopolitics in general. Alot of Asians in our respective communities are just thought to go school, study and be good employees and brag about degrees. At university here in the UK alot my friends are also Africans and many study STEM courses but outside of that almost all of them are so politically astute of foreign affairs, and with my fellow Asians its like just anime, manga, eating food, gaming but no understanding of reality around them whatso ever just one or two.
Depends on which Asians. There is a poll study on Asian demographic already and you guessed it: Koreans voted Trump and the only Asian that increase voting Trump from 2020 to 2024. If you don’t count India as Asians of course. Even Vietnamese vote Kamala increases from 2020 and voted her more than Trump.
@ nope, an Asian American association make a research report findings lead by a Korean professor. They essentially outed themselves. Most Asians actually despise China back home, that’s why Trump was an outlet in 2016. But even Vietnamese wouldn’t pay for Trump stupidity knowing what happen in 2019 and 2020 failing to stop Covid when Taiwan warned Trump in 2019. Vietnamese ppl also do not hate their women as much as Koreans do. Nowhere near.
You understand that within the Texas government, Kamala is labeled under "criminal organization" right? For participation in receiving free gas from Venezuela in exchange they allow thier dregs of society to come here & receive citizenship with free boarding & food? Over 360k migrant children here so far. & thousands of bodies found floating through the gap between Mexico & U.S right?
Yup, do you actually believe that everyone charged by the government is a felon…lots of Black and Brown people who have been railroaded and victimized by the system would disagree with your statement.
I also know that there are plenty of Asians who do vote and are politically opposed to other family members (IE Parent & Child, Siblings, Cousins, etc.) because they grew up in drastically different situations which call for more nuanced opinions.|
So neither side really would fit the best mold of the stereotypical first generation of Asian-Americans.
Damn tldr I don’t know
Voting for your self-interest is a lot of crap.

Kamala Harris was a complete joke of a candidate. Whether or not Asian Americans voted for Trump in mass numbers is a mute point IMHO.

@@JJ-si4qhthat’s facts
@@JJ-si4qh Actually people do. Or saying Turkey is not part of Europe but Armenia and Gorgia are but they are even more futher apart from Europe then Turkey. Get my point bro.
As an ABC I know a lot of Chinese people who vote republican for the same reason as the Vietnamese people. China is a communist country as well, and don’t want socialism either.
Korean vote Trump more than Kamala and the biggest increases from 2020 to 2024. How am I not surprised. 😂
Just take a stand, say what you are thinking dude. You'll win some and lose some. Don't peeve everyone off.
Don't need too much talking without saying anything
I’m not scared or gonna hide anymore, yes I’m a conservative & yes I voted for Trump.
The dems keep forgetting to advertise harris as half asian, so i think asians should vote republican.
You guys have to visit more places like Texas, Carolinas and Florida. Huge Asian-American population who vote red and republican
I would say the top three Asians to vote for Trump are 1. Vietnamese 2. Korean 3. Chinese
Asian American living in California, I didn’t vote but glad Trump won.
Sad.
Historically, the economy always did better under the Democrats . . . Just sayin
Yep. Ever since Bill Clinton was elected. We’re living in the United States of Amnesia.
Really.. Biden signed the anti-asian hate crime law....
But hate crimes went up with his first term. Also it was the Dems that put in the Anti-Asian hate laws. I understand voting for him on economics but hate crimes will go up
I’ve been encouraging Republicans to reach out to the Asian community. We have a lot of values in common.
What are those pray tell?
Im an Asian American from a religious family that escaped war. My family and I went through years of legalization and voted Trump due to the stupidity/racism that the Democratic party was going (and their unreasonable Woke mindset).

Conservative Asians will still attend family functions and speak to family regardless of how they vote.
Liberal family members won’t attend family gatherings where conservative family are present.
Liberals are so divisive, it’s terrible.
This is why I never discuss politics.
Facts
@@davelong4131 yup but most of my family and friends are traditional democrats. Unlike todays far leftist so we’re all cool 😂
@@MSE-X The liberals are usually the Asians who have a white mentality. Many Asian families will still get together and focus on families not politics. Some of the kids go to college and adopt white ideals, and are still accepted but it's the kids who think they must be listened to. The people who are doing the judging are the liberals. Everyone else just wants to eat and spend time together. Maybe when they listen to grandma and grandpa with respect, they will be listened to in return. If you are an Asian, and illegal, do something about it.

Chinese American here, did not vote for Trump. His emphasis on supporting authoritarianism and zero-sum game economic theory were not items I could overlook. They would make America weaker and poorer than it would be otherwise.
Funny America was not weaker and poorer last time he was in office but got significantly weaker and poorer the last 4 years. Only people really doing better than 4 years ago are the upper class and wealthy.
Actually it’s the opposite, his pro business and America first approach will help the country. Plus he was for freedom of speech, second amendment rights…how is that authoritarian? When the other side was censoring, demanding censorship, using lawfare on its political opponents, increasing the number of tax collectors for the IRS, expanding government into every facet of life. The democrats projected on to Trump, everything that they were doing.

As a Democrat we would stand up against Asian hate, want tougher borders, but don't make all immigrants criminals and hated to what's happening in Gaza. Now, it has been released how people voted. I don't care.

We need to fix the electoral college so it isn't winner take all and you end up with a more mixed election and the parties would have to learn how to deal with each other. Idealistic imaginary scenario would be 3, 4, 5, or more legit factions and would work together where not anybody gets everything they want.
Will never happen- it would require a constitutional amendment which would never pass.
The one reason for the electoral college, is that it forces the candidates to compete for every state. They may concentrate on swing states, but if you look at Trump, he went to almost every state to campaign. He campaigned in smaller towns and cities. The electoral process candidates to do that. Otherwise candidates can simply go to the biggest states and largest cities, and ignore the rural and suburban areas.
Imo, Asian Americans started out as Liberals,
coz of being people of color, racism, the whole baggage that comes with living in a Western world.
Let's not lose that aspect of our cultures. Competence, delayed gratification, grit, etc have made us so good at everything
