    Wow. I’ve just bought a 3D printer and plan to use one of my now retired Armattan Rooster quads as a base. Planning to print some TPU wheels and get my head around cotrolling it

      Yeah it is a pretty fun build, unfortunately it's snow everywhere here now and it's too fast for the living-room so right now I do stuff for snow instead. Sort of the same idea with the steering, mmix stabilized on yaw. :)

    I just love how quiet it is ... I dream about ultra quiet crawler but i afride brushless motors have no inaf thrust at low rpm?! Im not in hobby so i dont know... Just started research how to make ninja crawler :D

      Funny you commented now, I haven't played with it for a long time, but I made a smaller upgrade just a couple of days ago, with a crossfire receiver and a lot more powerful video transmitter. I got quite far.
      But, yeah, it's not great at slow speeds, but it might work with lower kv motors. ☺️

    That's a great video! Do 4in1 ESCs like the one you are using have reverse and brake? And is it possible to control them with Arduino?

    • @MattiasKallio
      @MattiasKallio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sort of, it's blheli so it's possible to use reverse (like on a 3d quad) but I use "turtle mode" to like wiggle it backwards instead. And it breaks too, but it mostly does 360s or tumble so it better to slow down than just cut the throttle. It's sort of flying a drone, as long as it's moving and the motors are running it's going where you want to.
      You probably could, I have a tank-track-thingie too with an ESP32, and that sort of works. But the thing with a flight controller is that you have the gyro and you can use the stabilized yaw to drive the motors the right speed.

    This looks awesome! How did you configure it in betaflight? Are all the motors still wired separately? Or are they bridged together? AETR? RETA? Lots of questions!

      @MattiasKallio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Haha, thanks. :) It's "Custom" in config and then I've played around with mmix to get it to steer like that. Yep, at first I had the same signal for left and right, but now I just take everything from a drone and changes things in BF and Blheli. I have added some new files on thingiverse now, like 3 18650-holder (2s is a bit weak for vtx and camera even though it's more than fast enough) and a there's a newer video out too that is mostly me talking a lot, but there's some video from a skatepark. ;) And yep, RETA to get yaw on the right. :)

      @@MattiasKallio Will you ever make a video on your complete betaflight config? I just assembled my car, and it seems like it will need some serious help if it stands a chance at driving with any control!

    Hello, I'm from Brazil and I was looking for a video like this. I don't have a 3D printer to create the body parts, do you have any suggestions on what other material to use? Thanks!

    • @MattiasKallio
      @MattiasKallio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it's hard to make it durable... But the idea is quite simple, one motor in each corner, so you could take a plastic box and drill holes for the motor screws and place everything in the box. :)

    Can the rates of the motors be changed with beta flight ?

    • @MattiasKallio
      @MattiasKallio  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep. It only uses Yaw, but I have three different rate profiles and use a switch to change between them. Very usefull to have low rates when going fast straight forward, Fast and Furious stylie. :D

      The car is too small and have no suspension so it's not working well offroad, but I have sprayed it with some conformal coating and haven't had any problems.

    How does it steer sir?

    • @MattiasKallio
      @MattiasKallio  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sort of the same way "differential thrust" works on planes... When I steer right the two motors on the left goes faster, and it uses the "stabilized yaw". There are more info about how to set things up in BetaFlight if you follow the thingiverse-link. :)

      Very true. And also I'm so old that all we had to play with when I was a kid were prisms and rocks, and while rocks are fun, prisms are cooler.

    Bro I have a doubt.... How to convert rc drone to rc car ........ Possible????? Please explain....😢

    • @MattiasKallio
      @MattiasKallio  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! That is sort of what the video is about. But the basic idea is to use the FC to stabilize the motors on only yaw. The FC already does that for drones, so I the pseudo mmix is "if yaw is pointing right, run the left motors faster" and vice versa. And what I thought might be a problem was that the motors would just fry because they have to work harder than the props, but I think it works because lifting is heavier than moving forward, so it actually works. :) If you follow the link to thingiverse, there is a bit more on BetaFlight settings etc.
