For me to get down the cliffs to the part of the beach where I would have access to him it is a 5 minute drive + search for parking (not gonna happen), 10 minute walk down to the beach + 10 minute walk to the south corner, then a scramble across the rocks... not really a timely warning. Also shouting from a cliff top with huge crashing waves around you doesnt really work either.
I heard he gets his extra hot with a side of ice cubes. They found a roo dead on the side of the road to use to skin graft what was left of his his feet. There's a new sheriff in town, goes by the name Rick Kane.
Heard he next went to Nazare, he said after a few mishaps lol, the northern beaches slab was basic beginner stuff, 50 foot Nazare was a suitable spot for a second surf.. 🤣😂
At least these sort of things usually only happen once… for the simple reason that you not likely to survive the second time if you didn’t learn the lesson

Agree that was hard to watch. Went from laughing to being really concerned as soon as I saw him hit the water. Lacked basic paddling skills. Friends or no friends involved, respect the ocean and know your limits!
I love this guy. Won't quit, way in over his head, and that's how you learn. But hey, everybody's an idiot sometimes. If you're a serious surfer you know you were there once there trying to give it a go at a certain spot and a certain swell when you no business there. Taking a few lumps are the best life lessons.

I’ve fucked up a few jumps in my life but after the third trouncing I usually take it as a sign. The worst experience was getting the leash caught on something and dangling upside down getting pounded, saving grace it was dawn and no one saw it.

I'm compelled to ask 2 questions: first, why would you want to paddle out into that slop show in the first place (even as an experienced surfer); second, how pissed is the guy who loaned him the board and suit?
My home break on med to big days is no place for anyone to just rock up and paddle out without watching where and how the locals do it. But I spent many years having a good old laugh watching them try. And it's not smooth rock like that, but razor sharp reef. A bum bounce 20 meters usually leaves lots of blood.
This is excruciating to watch. Someone needs to take that poor lad aside and teach him about physics and common sense. And then show him how to rock off.

On the other hand, by making it out successfully, not only do you partially redeoom yourself, you're able to suspend or avoid that dreaded "walk of shame". This isn't to say the dude made the right decision - obviously he made a mistake, but something like this happens to the best of us.

Just last week i witnessed a young surfer doing a similar thing. This guy here was TOTALLY out of his depth. His paddling showed an inexperienced surfer. Has youtube given people an inflated view of their capabilities ? People laughing at him in the video was slightly disturbing. What if he'd suffered serious injury or even worse? How would your laughter be explained? I spent decades jumping off rocks , mostly successfully .

WTH???? How many times? HAAHAAHAA!!!! So cleaned he squeaks - in pain from all the rock cuts. Nothing worse than that helpless feeling of scudding backwards over reef with no way of stopping other than slamming your flesh into the rock shelf.
