  • Based around the testimony of a Cardiac Arrest survivor and their partner this production examines the physicological impact of Cardiac Arrest survivorship both on those affected and their close family.
The Cardiology team at the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre, part of the Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust outline the techniques employed in the successful rehabilitation of cardiac arrest patients and examine the psychological impact of survivorship.
The production is targeted to help members of the public who've experienced Cardiac Arrest, either direct or indirectly understand the treatment pathway and the likely consequences of suffering a Cardiac Arrest. The video contains information on the following areas of treatment and diagnosis:
    1. The immediate post arrest treatment pathway
    2. Transfer to ICU (intensive care unit)
    3. Delirium associated with post resuscitation induced coma
    4. The physiological and psychological impact of suffering a cardiac arrest
    5. Transferring to a normal ward and recovery
    6. Beginning rehabilitation
    7. Going home and adapting to new circumstances
The production demonstrates the successful implementation of a post Cardiac Arrest treatment pathway from pre hospital / emergency room treatment through to cardiology centre transfer and recovery care. This is an amazing insight into the NHS and the fantastic care that can now be provided by world-class health care providers.
