This incredible live footage of such an amazing song shows that there was so much more to Simple Minds than "Don't You Forget About Me" and "Alive and Kicking". The audio and video quality of this footage is near perfect, which is crazy when you consider when it was filmed.
I can't think of another band who were so incredibly inventive, original and prolific to begin with and lost it as quickly. Maybe The Verve? But after Sparkle in The Rain they went into rapid decline chasing the stadium rock dollars and never got it back. Even the return of Derek Forbes (surely one of the greatest bass players of all time) could not re-ignite that early inspiration that they had for their first half a dozen albums.
@@branger6395 I meant the band as a whole not those particular members at the time. The song Premonition has an excellent bass line lick/groove to it as do many Simple Minds songs. You are correct of course the drummer in '79 was Brian McGee who lasted 4.5 years. Were you referring to bass player Tony Donald as he lasted a year I think. In total there's been 5 bass players and drummers in Simple Minds.
A fantastic song, one bass astonishing sequence, all performers were superb, as like as the little smile on Derek's face at the beginning of his performer, Jim Kerr as like as a boy in semi trans state: a perfect actor
Amazing perfomance of my favorite Simple Minds song!

The wolrds coolest band 1979-1984
For those 5 years this band controlled my life... Then they left me and started doing some bubblegum pop crap, I was devastated.
@doddy11767 sparkle in the rain...Swan song album for an impressive and ill-appreciated run.
My all time favourite simple minds song brilliant
